"I have no intention of harming your child," Ye Tianfan spoke, "I came here only for two pieces of Holy Light Ore. Once I leave safely, your child will be placed back in its position unharmed."
But the Holy Evil Lion did not move from its spot, instead pacing back and forth while emanating endless evil thoughts.
"Your child can't afford to waste time, can it? Although I've placed the Holy Light Ore and Evil Light Ore pieces next to your child, these ores won't last long — at most half an hour — so please don't waste any more time!" Ye Tianfan looked at the Holy Evil Lion radiating infinite evil thoughts and, rather than being afraid, maintained his calm demeanor and spoke.
The Holy Evil Lion glared fiercely at Ye Tianfan, neither leaving its spot nor ceasing to ponder.
Seeing the Holy Evil Lion appeared to be contemplating the situation, Ye Tianfan did not rush but simply waited. Nonetheless, the Fire Lotus Sword in his hand was still poised, drawing ever closer to the egg laid by the Holy Evil Lion.
Witnessing this, the Holy Evil Lion roared thunderously, a roar laden with murderous intent, as if threatening to tear Ye Tianfan apart if he dared touch the egg.
Though Ye Tianfan appeared indifferent and unworried, the truth was beads of cold sweat had gathered on his back, and he felt more anxious than anyone. Despite knowing the Holy Evil Lion would sacrifice its own life to protect its child, Ye Tianfan still feared that the lion might ignore its child's safety and shred him to pieces.
The reason the Holy Evil Lion prized its child so highly, even willing to give its life to protect it, is that a female Holy Evil Lion can produce only five eggs in its lifetime, with a survival rate of less than half. Furthermore, any mishap during incubation would turn them into dead eggs.
Take for example the pile of ores Ye Tianfan noticed used to incubate the Holy Evil Lion eggs; adding or removing even one could cause incubation failure. Even if nothing goes awry during the process, removing the egg from the ore pile would result in failure within five minutes. Ye Tianfan's method of sustaining it for half an hour was only possible because he placed the ores next to the egg, allowing it to absorb the energies.
Moreover, the egg was the fourth Holy Evil Lion egg for this mating pair, with the previous three all failing to hatch. Thus, this Holy Evil Lion cherishes the egg deeply.
Beyond angry roars, the Holy Evil Lion found itself at a loss, fearing Ye Tianfan might truly harm the egg.
In resignation, the Holy Evil Lion stepped aside to let Ye Tianfan pass.
Relieved to see the Holy Evil Lion step aside, Ye Tianfan breathed a sigh of relief — had it not, he'd have no other recourse, but as fortune would have it, a path was opened.
With a solid step beneath him, Ye Tianfan swiftly leaped towards the outside, easily bypassing the Holy Evil Lion, casting it a glance — still visibly seething with murderous intent — though Ye Tianfan harbored no desire to harm the Holy Evil Lion egg.
What Ye Tianfan didn't know was that as he vaulted over the Holy Evil Lion, the lion hesitated, contemplating whether to strike. However, upon considering the child in Ye Tianfan's care, it refrained.
Ye Tianfan began sprinting towards the cave's exit; once outside, everything would be negotiable. No matter what, escape remained feasible, provided he didn't get caught.
Yet as Ye Tianfan made his escape, another, slightly smaller Holy Evil Lion appeared blocking his path.
Damn it, how did another Holy Evil Lion come here?
Upon noticing Ye Tianfan, the new Holy Evil Lion froze momentarily, then let out a furious roar and charged towards him.
Just as Ye Tianfan was about to raise the Holy Evil Lion egg to threaten it, a roar sounded from behind him. He then saw the lion in front of him halt and began pacing, occasionally letting out a roar full of Evil Qi.
Ye Tianfan observed the Holy Evil Lion pacing in front before glancing back at the lion behind — watching him coldly, poised to shred him apart at any given opportunity.
Suddenly, Ye Tianfan felt a wave of panic; with lions blocking both his rear and front, resisting an attack seemed impossible for him.
Helpless, Ye Tianfan clutched the Holy Evil Lion egg with one hand whilst wielding the Fire Lotus Sword with the other, its tip aimed squarely at the egg.
"Clear the path, or else your child will be in danger."
After issuing his warning, Ye Tianfan forged ahead directly.
But as he proceeded, he noticed the lion in front hadn't moved, thus continuing, he spoke again: "We wasted some time inside just now, leaving your child with only twenty minutes before its incubation fails."
Upon finishing, Ye Tianfan raised the two pieces of ores on his arm higher for the lion in front to see them more clearly.
The Holy Evil Lion ahead let out a low growl in reluctant acquiescence and stepped aside, allowing Ye Tianfan to pass.
Ye Tianfan eagerly rushed forward upon seeing the lion clear the way.
Before long, Ye Tianfan emerged from the Holy Evil Lions' cave.
Staring at the familiar sky outside, Ye Tianfan heaved a sigh of relief — how much better it felt outside.
He glanced at the two pieces of ores on his arm, noting they retained about a third of their original color. This would only last for another ten minutes or so, meaning he couldn't delay returning the Holy Evil Lion egg any longer, or they wouldn't have time to incubate it.
However, after Ye Tianfan exited, the two Holy Evil Lions followed suit.
With the Holy Evil Lions currently in a slaughter mode — or evil mode — their venomous gazes in Ye Tianfan's direction were chilling enough to make him shiver.
Ye Tianfan began contemplating how best to return the Holy Evil Lion egg without incurring harm to himself.
