Inside the Library, Raze sat at a table, he pulled out the sword that he bought and threw it on the table, scanning it with his eyes first. There was nothing genuinely special about the sword itself, it was a nice blade, but that was where it ended.
He looked at the handle, grabbing the pommel and twisting it. Click. He heard the sound, followed by the pommel unscrewing until it was completely off and he could access what was inside.
Placing his finger inside the hollow handle, his finger touched something soft. He lifted the blade and allowed it to slide out. It was a small metal container. Raze used God's Eye on it and he could instantly tell what was inside.
"So they had plans to infect the major cities as well. No wonder the infection spread so much in the story."
"I'll need to prepare something before I deal with whatever is inside, but it is probable that they have already made their moves. If that's the case, I should inform Lady Rose at least." Raze said. He placed it back into his ring, left the library, and went to sleep for the day.
[...]
Two days passed by, Raze and Ella went back to the academy. Ella went back to her classes, catching up on whatever she had missed, and so did Raze. He kept attending different classes for first years, with no fixed plan in mind, just attending classes.
Until finally, they had their first General Taming class for the first years. The class was held at the grass field behind the academy, it was a large space that all the participating students could come to.
Not every first year wanted to take this course, they were only about fifty in total and the class was split into two sets of twenty-five. The higher your score on the entrance exam, the more chance you stood to be in the first set.
When Raze arrived at the field, he spotted Riker and Gavin. The moment he laid eyes on Gavin, he could sense a far stronger aura around him.
"Tsk, only been a few weeks and he is already stronger. I guess that's why he is the hero." Raze muttered.
He decided to meet up with Gavin, but then he saw the white-haired girl walk up to Gavin. She began speaking to Gavin in a normal tone like they had become friends.
But that wasn't what worried Raze, it was the fact that she possessed a similar energy to the person that had been trailing them before they went into the auction house that day. He had pretty much forgotten about the stalker because he was dealing with the attackers.
'Why would she stalk us? Does she want something from me or Ella?' Raze wondered.
As if feeling that someone was looking at her, she turned around and looked right at Raze with a blank expression. Gavin looked as well and saw Raze.
Since the both of them had seen him, Raze walked over there.
"Hey Gavin." He greeted.
"It's been a while." Gavin said, stretching out his hand for a shake. Raze took the hand and Gavin frowned slightly when he held Raze's hand. It wasn't the same, it carried a new strength.
'He is still ahead. I've been training myself to death for weeks and he is still growing, tsk.' Gavin thought.
'Gavin's grip is intense, and his callouses are as hard as steel. He's been training a lot. Well, he should, considering the state of things now.' Raze thought.
They let go of each other's hand and Raze looked at the white-haired girl. She had a blank expression on her face. She stayed quiet for a bit and then spoke.
"I'm Emily Grendole." Introducing herself short and quick, but her name carried weight. Grendole, the Duke to the South of the kingdom, the main port of the kingdom. All major seas are connected to the South, and the ruler of the South was the Grendole family.
"You are the daughter of the Duke." Raze said. "Forgive my manners then," he said, stretching out his hands and bowing his head slightly, trying to quickly ascertain her character.
"I don't have interest in things like that." She stated.
Raze lifted his head, a slight smile on his face. "Is that so? That's the first I've seen of a noble that doesn't care about nobility." He said.
"You don't seem to care about it much yourself."
"Hmm, well, considering I am from a barony, there is really nothing much to show off." Raze stated. "Sorry if I interrupted you two, I'll leave you to your talking." He said before turning to leave.
"You should stay." Emily said. "I was speaking to Gavin about something." Her voice carried a certain authoritative weight to it, probably due to living around powerful and influential people.
Raze paused and then looked back at her. "What is it?" He asked.
"Abominations. The three of us seemingly have the right to leave the academy whenever we really want, so I wanted us to join the people that will be hunting down abominations. I alone, and my brother would not allow it, but if I had a reliable team with me, I'll be able to." She explained.
"Uhm, that's a lot to take in, but first, your brother?" Raze asked.
"Yes, my father's third son. He is currently the captain of the sixth knight chapters, and one of the people that will be taking down abominations. And I want to be a part of it. I need the learning experience." She said.
'Hmmm, hunting down abominations, I actually need to get my hands on some, and despite the fact that this is unprecedented, it is an opportunity for me to take.'
Raze looked at Gavin. "What do you say?" He asked.
"I'm down for it. Also, I'd feel more safe if Ella could come along." Gavin said.
"Who is Ella?" Emily asked.
"A friend of mine from the second year, she is quite the powerful mage to add."
