Ella took a few steps back from the door, scanning it with her eyes once again, and she looked at Emily. "We have to hit each point with pinpoint precision. That's the only way to crack the formation."
Emily looked at the door and then back at Ella. "How are we going to do that?" she asked. Casting magic was already a very difficult and intricate activity. It would take a very controlled and fine-tuned spell to hit all 20 points at the same time.
"You're a light mage. Your entire magic takes a higher level of precision than mine. Shouldn't you be capable of something?" Ella asked Emily.
Emily looked at the door and then slowly shook her head. "That would be impossible. I could cast 20 light swords instantly, but having them all move to the exact same point, down to the smallest detail, and hitting the points at exactly the same time… it's not something I think is possible," Emily said.
Ella looked at the door again. The weak points were all spread out and had no uniform pattern, so it made it even harder. Now that they were asymmetrical, "If Raze was here, he would surely be able to hit it with pinpoint accuracy," Ella said.
Emily looked at her and raised her brow. "That can't be true.
"Actually, it is. He has a higher level of precision with magic, one that I can only hope to reach one day," Ella said.
"Hmmm, so what about Gavin? Could he do it?" Emily asked.
"Gavin is more of a battle mage than a normal mage. His spells are meant to destroy and push back enemies, not for fine-tuned things like this," Ella said.
"Then what are we going to do?" Emily asked. "I'm pretty sure Raze and Gavin are still handling that man downstairs."
Ella took a deep breath and then calmed herself. "You're going to have to do it," she said. "You have to find a way to attack them at the same time."
Emily shook her head. "I can't. Twenty is too much for me. If it was half, ten, then I would surely be able to do it if I put in enough effort," Emily stated.
When Ella heard that, an idea sprung into her head. "How about we both take on ten? I take ten on the left and you take ten on the right, attacking at the same time and with as much precision as we can. It should be able to work."
Emily looked at her, confused. "Wouldn't that make it a lot harder? We're having to work with two separate minds. Yours might reach before mine or mine before yours. There's no way for us to get it perfect," Emily said.
"It's worth a try. We can't sit down and outshine. If they're lucky they had such a serious formation over the door, then something is definitely inside that they don't want us to see," Ella said.
Here is the cleaned, corrected version of the final part, in your tone, with no added concepts and all repetition removed:
"What happens if we try to break the formation at its weak points and we don't hit them perfectly?" Emily asked.
"Two things," Ella replied. "One, we suffer a backlash like what happened to me earlier. Or two, nothing happens and the formation stays intact, and we won't be able to get inside."
"I see…" Emily murmured. "Then how about we brute-force it?"
Ella blinked at her. "Even with both of our magic combined, cracking this formation head-on would take too much time and mana."
"I might have a way," Emily said.
She placed a hand over her ring, then pulled something out: a dagger, curved, made of silver with black edging, a brown hilt, and a clear crystal embedded at the end.
"This is something my mom gave to me," Emily said. "It can absorb magic and then discharge it."
Ella stared at the blade as Emily continued, "If we cast spells normally, they'll just scatter like a stream hitting a wall. But if we pour our mana into the dagger and stab it into the right point, it'll release everything at once. That explosion might be enough to brute-force the formation."
She handed the dagger to Ella, who took a closer look at it. "Your mother must love you to give you such gifts," Ella said.
"No, not really. She just had a habit of giving gifts to cover for when she did something to hurt us," Emily said. There was a heavy feeling behind her eyes, but it faded away after a few seconds — though not fast enough for Ella to miss it.
She could tell that Emily had things that she was battling, but she couldn't ask about it as it wasn't her place; they barely knew each other.
"Pour your mana in, but don't deplete yourself. A bit over half should be more than enough," Emily said.
Ella held out the dagger and closed her eyes. She began channeling her mana into it; the crystal at the bottom began absorbing the mana and turning blue slowly before their eyes. She kept pouring it in until she had almost depleted her mana, then she stopped, handing the dagger to Emily.
She also took it and poured her mana into it. The crystal glowed even more, and then she walked toward the door.
"Are you going to touch it? That's dangerous, remember?" Ella said.
"I know. The dagger should be able to stab through the formation. It's part of what it's built for… I think," Emily said.
"You think? And if it's not?" Ella asked.
"Well, we'll find out," Emily said, and then thrust the dagger forward. It penetrated through the formation. She could feel the dagger vibrating heavily in her hands; she tightened her grip on it. One wrong move and it would be an issue.
Finally, the dagger embedded into the door. She placed her finger on the back of the crystal, activating it. She let go and moved back fast.
BOOOM!
An explosion rang out with wood and debris flying in all directions.
