The teacher stared at the board for a good minute; everyone held their breath, waiting for him to speak.

"How? How did you do this?" he asked. As someone who had lived for many years and had also studied a good amount of runes, he knew when something was better than before.

He turned to the table, tore out a piece of paper, and, taking up his quill, drew fluidly, replicating what Raze did while infusing mana into it.

A part of him wished that the structure crumbled and he would be able to call the kid out, but another part of him wished for it to work. The moment he made the last dash, he could already feel the paper absorbing mana from the surroundings.

His eyes widened; he lifted it up, his gaze shaking. "This can't be, it can't," he muttered. He eagerly cast a fireball spell and the talisman absorbed it.

Then he pointed it at the wall, and with a simple infusion of mana the talisman activated. A fireball came rushing out and slammed into the wall; the talisman crumbled. The entire class was stunned.

"It worked."

"You have to be joking, right?"

"Did he just actually make something that works?"

"Maybe he isn't actually a spoiled kid."

"Tsk, he got lucky."

Different discussions erupted, eyes pinned on Raze and his nonchalant smile.

"The runic structure that you all used in the past had two issues. The first was a stabilizer rune; it lacked that," Raze said.

"A stabilizer? That had been tried a million times over the years, but it never worked and only caused more issues," the man said.

Right now, Raze was working with the limited knowledge that he had gotten in an instant, but that knowledge would be enough to handle this situation.

"That's because you keep using this center rune, which is meant to be the core of your structure, but for this rune to give stability, it has to let go of energy and also puts a lot of strain on the material that it is written on.

Now, the reason why the stabilizers never work is because the core rune is already trying to act as a stabilizer, and when the two clash there is an issue.

So there is only one rune that will simply work as the core and also only output energy when the top and bottom runes are activated. It has no other function, and that's the rune that I used. But now, there is no more balance with this rune, and so the stabilizer is needed and it now works.

No more strain and no more need for expensive material." Raze gave his explanation without a single stop; like he knew what he was saying extremely well. His confidence oozed from him, and his words sounded convincing.

The man stared at the rune structure; he still couldn't believe it was that easy, and they had never been able to find it.

He, a peak four-star mage who had also gained the title of Wizard, had never been able to find this.

"Class is dismissed for now. Everyone can go; I have to speak with the headmistress," he said. He looked at Raze. "You and I will speak later," he said before leaving in a rush, leaving the entire class stunned.

"Was it that great of a discovery?"

"Shut up, what do you know, that could revolutionize magic casting."

"Tsk, geniuses piss me off. I'm here struggling to fit a mark and they get it all easy."

The class was in turmoil, while Raze stood there, his mind already drifting off to something else.

"Maybe I should learn runes better; it seems it has some crazy possibilities," he muttered under his breath.

The sun shone hot in the sky, its rays visible to the naked eye. A group of five could be seen standing under its burning sun inside town, all clad in armor from head to toe, knightly, gallant, and strong. All stood outside a small house in the town.

The leader of the knights, their captain, a young man with white hair and a glorious face, took the front; his hand rested on his sword.

People from around the town watched from a distance, wary of what was about to happen.

Inside the house, scratching and clawing could be heard, as well as slamming, and blood seeping under the cracks of the door, touching the captain's metal boots. He looked at the blood, then looked up and pulled out his sword.

"Ready yourselves, men; here it comes," he spoke in a commanding tone, but before the men or he could focus and be on guard, the doors were blown apart.

"Roarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" Its voice responded through the town — a massive seven-foot-tall creature, black with one purple eye, long limbs, and an extremely thin body. An abomination, and from the form it took, it was evident that it had been human.

Instantly, it lashed, its arms slamming into the captain and throwing him back so hard that he slammed through the walls of a house and broke through. It continued to slam all the knights away, tossing them several meters.

From the rubble the captain burst out, running at top speed. The abomination saw him and instantly attacked with both hands; he gritted his teeth and blocked the attack. The ground beneath him instantly cracked, but he stopped it.

"You'll be dying here, you vermin," he roared, pushing both hands to the side and lunging forward. The abomination attacked again, this time more ferociously, but before its arms could reach, two knights blocked it, parrying it to their sides.

"The path is clear, Captain! Go!" they yelled, and the captain sped up.

The other knights immediately joined in; they began attacking it from the side, ensuring that it would keep its attention on the captain.

The captain leaped into the fray, sword raised; it glowed bright and white, and he slashed down.

"Arghhhhhhh!" He dashed his sword through the abomination, splitting it in half and destroying the core. Both sides of the body fell to the ground amid battle.

The captain landed on the ground and took a deep breath.

"Captain, that has been the fourth one in two days, humans turning to abominations all of a sudden, and we have no information," one of the knights said.

"It's suspicious and concerning, but our task remains to kill them without question. Whatever is happening is not our concern; we are done here."
