Harem Quest: From Trash to King

Chapter 78: We Will Star Day After Tomorrow.

She glanced at Leon and Arthur as she spoke about the next part. "From that point on, Leon and Arthur's strength would be our trump card, we'll use it to our best. They're the strongest in direct hand-to-hand fights, basically monsters. And me and Ryan..."

She took a small pause as her gaze shifted towards Ryan for a second before continuing once again. "We also have our share of strengths too. So we'll support you both and fight alongside you."

Ryan felt something shift inside of his chest, it was not pride, but it was something warm—something grounding. He nodded slowly without saying anything to them.

Arthur didn't show any emotions, he was unreadable as ever. Just simply stared at the board, his expressions still remained neutral, arms were still crossed next to his chest.

But Ryan could tell that he was paying full attention to the current meeting. Arthur never looked away from the board when something important was being discussed.

Leon nodded too. He looked confident, maybe even more excited now, a smile was curled up on his lips.

Maya lowered her hand a bit and then clicked the marker closed with a slow click, slowly took it next to the marker stand which was under the whiteboard, and put it inside of it. She took one step forward from the board and crossed her arms slightly.

She let out a small sigh as her voice came low, steady. "Anyone got any kind of doubts?" she asked, scanning all three of them one-by-one.

Leon raised his hand up in the air casually, like he was attending some sort of class. "Yeah, I got one doubt."

Maya tilted her head slightly, her voice came. "Yeah, go ahead."

Leon leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "In how many minutes do we have to clear our targets? Like… do we need to sync it, or just go as fast as we can?"

Maya nodded as if she was expecting that question from one of them. "It would be best if you can do it as soon as possible," she replied, looking straight into Leon's eyes. "Speed is important because if you'll complete your task first, it'll reduce their chances of calling for the backup."

Leon nodded, a bit serious now.

"And," Maya continued. "Whichever one of you—either you or Arthur, finishes their area first and enters the main building, you'll go directly towards me and Ryan. Don't wait for us to come there, just move fast and accordingly."

"So whoever completes their part first goes to support," Leon repeated.

"Exactly." Maya said, looking at Leon.

Leon cracked his knuckles once as his voice came firm, a pinch of excitement buried inside of it. "Got it, Crew's Brain."

Maya then turned her gaze towards Arthur, her eyes narrowed down slightly. "Arthur," she said slowly, looking Arthur straight into his eyes. "Don't you think that you should conserve your energy a bit? The leader of the West High Crew might be too strong?"

Before Arthur could even answer back to Maya, Ryan jumped into the conversation instinctively.

"Maya," he said, looking at her, "he's Arthur. He can do it all day."

She looked at Ryan for a moment—her face looked like she was trying to assess if he was trying to joke or if he was serious—and then let out a small soft sigh which then got followed by a smirk.

"Yeah..." she said, shaking her head a little. "He's Arthur, I forgot about that."

Arthur didn't react or respond at all. He didn't smirk, didn't look annoyed by it. He just blinked once, slow and calm, just like his usual self.

As if he didn't care about the compliment which Maya just gave him or the concern which she showed earlier, but the quiet confidence of his was gleaming in his gaze.

Maya finally dropped her arms down, and leaned as she kept one of her hands on the desk beside her. "We have only four members in our crew..."

she said, looking a bit worried but serious. "And our enemies might even have a whole unit of guys with them. A real unit. Maybe fifty, maybe sixty or maybe more. We can't assume."

No one spoke, they all patiently listened to her, paying complete attention to her.

"It would be better if we attack them first," she continued talking. "If we do that, they'll definitely get caught off guard. If we wait for them to come at us... we're just giving them the chance to strike first and we can't afford that, we'll lose miserably."

Ryan gave a small nod, looking straight at Maya with seriousness in his eyes. Leon nodded, a yawn escaped his mouth. Arthur nodded once, calm and confident.

"She's correct in this," Arthur said quietly.

His voice wasn't too loud, but it carried the weight in it. When Arthur had agreed with something, this room got still for a second—like his words were heavier than any kind of speech.

Ryan took a small breath. "Hmm… okay then." He looked around at all of them. "We'll begin our mission the day after tomorrow. Let's regroup in front of the school."

Maya just nodded once. "That's totally fine with me. That would be perfect timing, no delay."

Arthur didn't look at Ryan, eyes still closed, arms still crossed next to his chest, but he spoke clearly. "You're the leader, Ryan. So we'll do whatever you decide, it's fine with me too."

For a few seconds, the room stayed quiet, there was no kind of movement in the air, just the stillness.

Just… focused. Stable. Like the calm right before people walk into a storm they've already accepted.

Ryan exhaled softly. "Alright," he said. "Meeting over."

And just like that, the chapter closed, the air was still thick, the plan was completely made and drawn out, the war was almost at their doorstep.

They stood there as four students in a quiet classroom… but they walked out as a crew preparing to fight a unit.
