Beyond SSS-Rank After Getting The God System

Chapter 107: Carl's Absence Part 2

Klaire took a good while to recover, the feeling of losing a baby indescribable beyond "worse than anything she could have imagined", yet she also felt the fever eating away at her body and mind at the same time.

Faylorna continued to stroke her hair. "You should be more careful Klaire. I have suffered every pain a woman can suffer, most of which are pains no one should experience."

"Is that what will happen if I get pregnant right now, because I don't have the necessary divinity?"

Faylorna answered with a tilted head, confused as to why Klaire was speaking in the old tongue. "No dear, the baby would drain your entire supply daily and have their limits determined by that, they only require that level of divinity to mature."

"Good, I don't know if I could let Carl touch me if that was the danger."

"Well, I'm glad you're feeling better, but why are you speaking the old tongue? I thought you hated speaking it?"

Klaire tripped over her own tongue replying, not having realised she was. "Sorry, I know you hate my annunciation. I didn't even realise I was speaking it."

"Actually, your annunciation was perfect... I see, you were using my memories to learn, that's why you were choosing to feel everything."

"Yeah... I wasn't expecting to taste Lillim's tongue... I'm going to have to drink that memory away when I get the chance."

"Wait... You didn't?"

"No, I was detached enough to barely even see what was happening... Luckily he approached you as carefully as a dangerous animal, so I always had plenty of warning."

"True, I guess we both have a thing for frigid boys... Never realised that Kyubi shared that taste though."

Klaire chuckled and wiped her eyes. "Can I continue?"

"No. You're foolish to wish to, you lack the control. Did you forget the spell that Lillim used to show you the past? I can just use that if you wish to see it all."

"No. I need to feel it, I learn best by doing. If I experience it once, I can do it."

"Oh, so that's it. There is more than one spell, though that talent is hard to believe."

"Try me, use whatever spell you want. How do you think I recalled the feeling of my soul being overlaid? As long as I know what I'm feeling and it's clear enough, I can recreate it with ease. Carl taught me how to do a back flip just flipping me as I jumped."

"Well, why didn't you say?"

"I didn't think it would work with this stuff, then I ate Dracula's soul and from that I got a glimpse of his memory using aura and laws and remembered how it felt to control aura and channel laws."

"Let's not waste time then..."

Faylorna set about preparing the spells, then gestured to them when she was done. "Stand in the middle when you're ready. I'll have programmed it not to show you everything I experience in other people's memories, but I will still expect you to prove yourself when you're done."

Klaire stepped into the middle of the large and intricate circle that Faylorna had drawn.

She found herself once again in Faylorna's memories, starting from the moment Nergal and Lillim welcomed her back to the living.

"How are you doing, little bec?"

"Lillim? Where am I? Is that the devil?"

"Ha! No, I am far older than little Samael... Is it Bec or Faylorna? I'm confused."

The conversation was long and painful, they explained to Faylorna that Nergal had pieced her soul back together and changed her, but Faylorna's only concern was her child.

When they explained that they couldn't restore the fragile life's soul, Faylorna demanded to know, a thousand questions they had no answers for. It was then the law of Soul first flowed into her, revealing to her all the answers she so desperately sought.

Klaire watched days, weeks, months, years, decades and centuries all roll by. In that time, Faylorna resided in Nergal's black city and practiced, learning what it meant to be immortal.

He taught her all he could, she painstakingly taught herself what he couldn't. Lillim came to visit every so often, talking to her about what was transpiring in Samael's realms.

"My daughters are rather rambunctious, but I think you would enjoy it..." She said as Faylorna ignored her in favour of her work, she was stitching a soul that Nergal had told her was about to fall apart. "...Faylorna, you have eternity to work on your stitching, don't forget to live."

Suddenly Faylorna shrieked with excitement, which was followed by the howl of the newborn banshee. "She'll be my daughter..." Faylorna squealed as she embraced the howling black rags.

Nergal suddenly stormed in, eyes burning with fury. "What did you do!? You stitched that child's soul back together!"

Lillim gasped, realising that she had kidnapped the soul from the black city. "Faylorna, you didn't... How could you?"

"No child deserves to d-"

Nergal batted her into a wall and held her there with his aura as he pulled the newborn banshee close. "Sorry little one... I have failed you... Be at peace..." Nergal pulled the stitches aparts and let the soul fall apart as it was supposed to.

"Ner-"

"Silence Lillim, I can no longer house your friend... I will prepare a realm for her, but it will cost her greatly. I will send her souls that deserve to suffer this mutilation. She will never be free to leave that place. Now take her to your realm and strip her of her madness by any means necessary."

She spent several more centuries being tortured, but then Lillim had a stroke of inspiration and she asked Samael to pull out her soul.

"Why Lillim? Why have you taken such an interest in her?"

"When we first met, she reminded me of me, being forced into marriage and robbed of freewill."

"Fine then, I will help this friend of yours, but if this doesn't work. would it not be kinder to end her madness?"

"I don't think so... Something tells me she needs to exist. I had never seen a soul as bright and strong as her's..."

"Fine then... It is rare to see a human with such ties to a law, even the variants struggle to reach them so intimately. Don't let your efforts go to waste."

Samael fulfilled Lillim's request and pulled Faylorna's soul out, then looked at Faylorna.

Lillim held the fragmenting soul out towards her, hoping she would start stitching by reflex.

When it didn't work, she grumbled, then had an epiphany and changed her voice to that of Faylorna's mother. "Bec, if you don't stitch then you're no good to the raff and I'll have to send you to the fomori."

Faylorna's arms shot out and started stitching her own soul.

"Stop! Look what you're doing! Be fast, but do it right Faylorna!" Faylorna stopped, pulled the hastily done stitches out restarted with far greater care.

When the process was done, Lillim pushed her fully stitched soul back into her and whilst she seemed far more balanced she was still occasionally erratic and prone to breakdowns where children were concerned.

It was later that Nergal summoned Lillim, impressed that she had got Faylorna's condition to improve so much in so little time.

"She is better, but not perfect, her soul is whole, but her mind is fractured."

Nergal grunted. "I may know a creature that can help... I will have to speak to one of my sister's friends though, Tsukiyomi and he still hasn't forgiven me for seducing his mother..."

Lillim chuckled. "It's impressive to know everyone and have so few friends..."

"An achievement I find most unflattering Lillim..."

Time ticked on and Klaire watched as Kyubi eventually came with Lillim to meet her. Clicking her tongue as she gazed at the mess before her, Kyubi grumbled about being told to help.

As she worked and studied the countless shards Faylorna's mind had been broken into, disgust turned to pity and she eventually came to empathise.

By the time she was finished Faylorna was whole again, Lillim thanked her and tried to send her on her way, but Kyubi just huffed and insisted on helping her teaching Faylorna to use her own abilities, spells and working with divinity.

Klaire felt it all, memorising the sensations of every skill, ability and action until the recollection spell reached its end.

"Wow, so that's how you first met Kyubi. You never mentioned that she helped you so much."

"Well we fell out after the humans killed her kind, she was never able to see past my origins... Well, until Carl that is. Rebuilding that bridge for us is why I truly want to help you two. Speaking of which, let's see how much you remember."

Faylorna howled, but Klaire stretched out her aura to form a barrier, then created a gun and shot several sunlight rounds, each aimed at an arm or the trailing rags where her legs should have been.

Klaire then coated the bullets in aura, which not only rendered Faylorna's attempt to erase them void, but punched through Faylorna's barrier ahead of the bullets to let them through.

As Faylorna then reeled from the pain as Klaire's divinity infused sunlight rounds disintegrated what they connected with. Klaire closed the distance and jumped before swapping her right hand out with her soul-form and driving Faylorna back and into the ground by her face.

She then swapped out completely and howled...

Faylorna braced, ready to have her soul ripped from her, but the howl was strangely soothing. As the rhythmic vocalisation moved through her, Faylorna likened it in her mind to being sung a lullaby and wondered if this was some kind of howl designed to rob the one who heard it of their ability to resist as it stripped their soul.

By the time it ended, Faylorna was practically asleep. "Faylorna? You okay? Pretty sure I healed everything
