As Carl was about to begin, he suddenly got a message from Gillian.
[ PRIVATE MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM GILLIAN : IF YOUR TRYING TO PUT ON A SHOW MATE, MIGHT HELP IF PEOPLE CAN SEE. GOT SOME GIRLS IN SKIRTS, SO LEAVE THE FLOORS, BUT MAKE THE WALLS TRANSPARENT. ]
Carl sighed, then honoured his request and to his surprise, he didn't lose any divinity at all and with a smile sent another message and began.
---Back on Mirage---
"What just happened? The outer walls just went see through."
"What's going on!?"
"Are we supposed to be looking at something?"
Suddenly, three tapping sounds came over the speakers.
"Testing, Testing 1, 2, 3... Hello everyone it's me, Gillian. If you would kindly look to the right of the rising sun. Carl has just informed me that is where the display will be taking place, so sit back and enjoy the show... For all you animal lovers out there, please don't panic Majesty and her kids scared all the critters off to keep them safe."
As he finished they looked to the sun rise, then down to the right, wondering what Carl was going to do with the sparse trees and other flora.
What happened, was the last thing they expected. The trees suddenly dematerialised and the land became a barren wasteland, which had it ended there would have been the most harrowing display they'd seen.
Seeing how unnerved they were, Carl narrated the steps to Gillian and asked him to then narrate the steps to everyone over the transmitters, a request that Gillian was practically born to fulfill.
"Sorry for the fright ladies and gentlemen, but before things can be built, space must first be made. The next step is to mark out the construction zone..."
As he spoke Carl carved out a square ten kilometers by ten kilometers, he then carved that into two-hundred by two-hundred metre squares.
"The next step is to compact the ground to create a solid foundation to build upon..."
The crowd watched as the square in the corner closest to them was compacted down to a depth of about fifty metres and filled it with the necessary piles and other foundation materials.
With all that done in less than a minute, Carl then continued to do the same with the rest, with every square adjacent to the ones filled with foundations left untouched.
In just a minute, every square that was going to be the site of whatever Carl was building was completed. The speed left everyone in awe and completely distracted from their confusion, fear, and anxiety.
The only ones still not entirely distracted, were those who were separated from their families, but that was the kind of heartbreak that Carl couldn't hope to ease so soon and doubted they would ever entirely put behind them until they could be reunited.
"Well, I think we can all agree that it was... Well I think we can all agree we don't have a clue what that was..." He said as he trailed into a laughter that the audience found contagious. "...Whatever it was, it was preeety cool to see, but next up, we have the buildings themselves."
In an instant a fifty-story building appeared instantly and everyone's spirits were furthered raise by the one-sided argument Gillian pantomimed with Carl.
"Dammit Carl! How the hell can I narrate and get my daily dose of attention with you showing off like that..." Gillian paused, acting like Carl was speaking to him. "...Oh yeah right, like I can just pull a damn city out my arse, some of us are still slightly normal, you immortal pain in the arse."
Everyone watching and listening to the staged argument were more or less aware Gillian was faking it, but they couldn't help but find comfort in the lengths they were going to.
They had seen their hosts work tirelessly to process the new arrivals that outnumbered them by the thousands, they'd watched someone many of them knew make a fool of himself to entertain them and they'd watched their new host build a city in instant to keep them comfortable.
When he was ready, Gillian continued. "Well everyone, room is no longer an issue. Everyone of those buildings has fifty-floors. Every floor has four suites, each of which are replicas in the layout of the former Madam Director's suite on SATS..."
As Gillian spoke, Carl created a shuttle system to the residential towers, which ran automatically around the perimeter.
[ GROUP MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM CARL : HOUSEHOLDERS HAVE THE ABILITY TO ASSIGN SUITES TO TEMPORARY RESIDENTS. IF ALYSSE AND GILLIAN COULD START WITH ASSIGNING SUITES TO OVER FIFTEEN YEAR OLDS, I WANT ISOLATED UNDER FIFTEEN YEAR OLDS IN DEDICATED BUILDINGS WITH ROUND THE CLOCK SUPERVISION. IF POSSIBLE, SUPERVISORS SHOULD BE EX-SATS STAFF. ]
[ GROUP MESSAGE SENT FROM GILLIAN : CHEERS FOR THE HELP... THIS IS TOO MUCH THOUGH MATE, WE CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH. ]
[ GROUP MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM CARL : I KNOW, I'M GETTING REINFORCEMENTS AS WE SPEAK. TELL ALYSSE I'M SORRY, I'M STEALING ONE OF THOSE TRANSMITTERS, I WON'T BE ABLE TO RETURN IT. ]
--- Back on Haven---
"Right Tiamutael, you're doing great buddy, just say if you need a break. You girls are being amazing sisters too, I'm so proud of all of you."
"Thanks dad, but taking care of each other is what siblings do. You owe us all cookies though." Kitsunoko replied with her usual tone of mischief.
"Yeah Dad, I'm good for now, but only because I've mostly been watching and not teleporting. I agree with the cookies thing though."
"Kids, after this, you can have all the cookies you can eat in one sitting without being sick. For now though, Tiamutael, could you get Illim and Eldorlora's attention, I have no idea where to look.
"Okay, you have it Dad."
"Hello, I'm sorry for this, truly. I need you to bring all the manpower to a world called Mirage that you can. We are evacuating thousands from the committee station orbiting Earth."
"Dad, they told me to say that you should go to the world and pulse your aura to help them find you."
"Thank you both, I can't thank you enough. You too kids, Dad loves you lots."
Carl turned and created a portal to Mirage, stepping through it immediately and finding himself face to face with gillian.
He grabbed the transmitter and began pulsing his aura. "Hello everyone, just a friendly warning so you aren't startled, our elven allies will be arriving soon to help speed up the process. I will make this clear, they are our allies, not my subordinates, acting disrespectfully will find you returned to SATS. I won't let one individual endanger everyone else."
Carl passed the transmitter back and with a wordless begging gesture, asked Alysse for the sacrificial speaker.
When she handed it over and he was done thanking her, he synthesised it into nothing, solely attempting to bank it and having a private celebration when it succeeded. He then went over to where Majesty and the army of The Carrion-hunters were waiting.
"Sorry Majesty, I don't ask this lightly, but I need to sacrifice one of your offspring."
'It is their honour.'
"Do you have any children capable of flight to any extent?"
'One, though they are simple sensory organs that are used to scout tunnel networks and spaces too small for the others to easily access.'
"Perfect..." Majesty produced one that had an accelerated maturation rate and as soon as it was fully formed and just waiting to hatch, Carl mixed it with the transmitter and one of the vocal species he had banked and finally the slime. "...I'll name your species, Her Majesty's Voice and you are Larynx Help Majesty communicate with non-faction members please. replicate as many times as you need to fulfill her orders."
The creature was smally, surprisingly similar to a sprite, or other kind of fairy, but it nodded happily and was a lot less intimidating that floating organ that Majesty described.
"I thank you Master, to have a voice is a gracious gift, I look forward to conversing with Mistress Kyubi."
"No need, Larynx has the ability to clone itself, so I want you focused on pulling strings and keeping things moving as efficiently as possible."
"It shall be done, Master."
As he finished with Larynx and Majesty, a portal larger than any he had seen outside of the recollection they had been shown by Lillim. apperd. Roughly twenty-five metres in diameter.
The moment the elves started marching through, with both manpower and resources, people were once again awe-struck.
The military training that Eldorlora had mentioned was on full display, as was the matter of the generational empowerment they were experiencing.
"Carl! I won't ask for an explanation now, but know your lands and charges are in good hands."
"Illum, I really want us to be friends, can we drop the pomp and ceremony?"
Illum laughed and Eldorlora rolled her eyes. "He was saying the same thing all night, but wasn't sure how to ask."
"Pretty sure the best way to ask is with words, but taking a chance is valid too.
