Beyond SSS-Rank After Getting The God System

Chapter 191: Away From Home Part 10

"You have an interesting perspective. Ask you're question, Gillian."

"I want to know why so many immortals have some kind of arch nemesis. I don't expect you to speak on everyone's behalf, but I want to get as many perspectives as I can, maybe if I put the ones I get in writing it will open their eyes."

"You are a good person, one with a noble goal and ideas so simple they are easily attainable. My reason is simple, I was born to control the seas, Tsukuyomi's dominion over the moon made me redundant. I saw it as my duty to challenge him."

"Right, thank you."

"That's it? Are you unimpressed, or doubt my honesty?"

"No, I actually think it's a good reason and completely understand how you felt. You had a purpose, someone else made you redundant, at that point you really didn't have many choices left and you chose what came naturally."

"That's very diplomatic of you." Bakunawa laughed.

"Follow up. Why didn't you talk? You could have asked Tsukuyomi to diminish the moon's sway over the seas. You could have done what he did and asked someone with more power to mediate. Also, why did he ask for you to be imprisoned, why do you think he didn't simply ask Ishtar to mediate for the two of you?"

"I didn't talk, because I was ignorant, anything else would be an excuse. Thank you, Gillian. I'm glad I met you before the end."

"Hey, don't speak like that, you ain't done yet. I promise I'll be your friend when Carl remakes you, I'm glad I met you too Baku." Gillian held out his hand for a handshake, making the others shake their heads.

"Friends..." Bakunawa looked back at the spot where he could feel Carl running, then back again. "...I wish I had met you a few thousand years ago, if you had been around then..."

"...Then absolutely nothing would have happened, humans weren't able to perceive the supernatural around them en masse back then. It was only a few sporadic individuals and the occasional group with a specific being. I won't regret the past, I'm glad you all had enough of humans and broke creation, if you hadn't I'd never have met you, Kyubi, Lillim, Faylorna, Grenda and all the others."

"Gillian, you should stop talking, don't forget that a lot of people and other species were wiped out or became endangered." Scylla reminded him.

"Yeah, it sucks... We would have got there eventually though, the variants popping up and breeding, it was all just a matter of time. All any of this really did, was speed up the process in my opinion and thanks to that we got Carl, Sis, hell we even got Kyubi, Lillim, Faylorna."

"Gillian's got a point, if you look at what we know, Incursion day happened an entire century before Margo got involved. We already reached that point, I want to crack the system code and figure out what made it go haywire, give him them some closure."

"If you want my opinion it's a lost cause, do you have any idea how many immortals have tried?" Grenda shrugged, Bakunawa nodding in agreement with her.

"No and considering they can't figure out that being immortal gives you time to think about things, I don't really have faith in their reasoning skills. No offence." Blanc answered as he shrugged his shoulders.

As that conversation finished, Klaire and Kyubi returned and told everyone that prying or interfering wasn't allowed, then they got caught up with what they had missed.

"Oh wow, so not much happened?"

"No, it's been like nine minutes, how long were you guys coming to terms with it?"

"About four days, we would have been back sooner, but we had an argument about who gets called Granny and who gets Nan." Kyubi said unashamedly, which led to a similar scenario between the others on their behalf with it split firmly down the middle, between Sophie and Gillian on one side and Blanc and Scylla on the other.

Listening to them debating it however made Klaire and Kyubi rethink the importance of the matter.

"Can I ask one thing, that might cause another argument?" Grenda asked with a bit of discomfort.

"What?" Kyubi asked, a little surprised with Grenda's interest.

"Which of you will be the first to carry a child? From what I understand, raising divine children is no easy feat due to the divinity requirements. Doesn't it take an absurd amount of compatible divinity to be able to nourish them?"

"We have actually discussed that quite a bit and decided Kyubi would, after we found out that becoming immortal doesn't halt your body's development, it made sense to let Kyubi carry first." Klaire explained, surprising some of them quite a bit.

"We all wanted Klaire to, that would have been fairer, but at the same time it was too long. We want to have a born baby before the others have time to worry about it, the sooner we show them we'll love them all the same, the better."

"Wow, is Carl really thinking about kids already?" Gillian asked with a whistle.

"His exact phrasing when we asked was, "What do you mean? We're already parents, it's a bit late to say I'm not ready, you two feeling alright?" Then we started to feel like idiot and we ended up speaking about it more thoroughly." Klaire shrugged.

"As for the divinity requirements, Grenda. Yes, it is absurdly difficult, four million units of divinity is an insane amount. On top of that, we realised only the three of us will be compatible due to the paradox of Carl's mortal divinity creates, in truth I might not be able to contribute at all and we need to make sure we all have enough left after to fulfill our duties." Kyubi continued, holding her stomach with visible longing.

"Do Carl's creations not have similar divinity?" Bakunawa asked, genuine curious about the matter of a unique divinity.

"We don't know, only Ishtar was able to observe it and unless we can find out or figure out how she did, we can't go for it and home for the best. Though if we could, it would be amazing handy between Equinox, Aegis and the kids."

"Who are this Equinox and Aegis? I think I would like to hear more about my future counterparts." Bukanawa asked in an attempt to kill the time, but he was surprised when they gave Gillian the stage so he could add the usual sense of theater to it.

The whole show was entertaining for all, but went on for so long, those that new it took the opportunity to take turns sleeping.

"...So there we were, Carl in tears, crying over the imminent sacrifice of his pets. Light and dark, coming together to comfort him and through the absurdity of it all, the dragon of balance was born!"

The performance stole a deep guttural laugh from Bakunawa that made his whole body undulate.

[ GROUP MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM CARL : I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON OVER THERE, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF ALL WE CARE ABOUT, STOP! I JUST GOT FLUNG LIKE A HUNDRED FEET IN THE AIR AND NEARLY GOT CRUSHED! ]

[ GROUP MESSAGE SENT FROM GILLIAN : COME ON MATE, HE'S GONNA DIE WHEN YOU GET HERE, AT LEAST LET HIM ENJOY A LAUGH IN THE MEAN TIME. ]

[ GROUP MESSAGE SENT FROM KLAIRE : HATE TO SAY IT, GIL'S GOTTA POINT, LET THE BIG GUY ENJOY HIMSELF. ]

[ GROUP MESSAGE SENT FROM KYUBI : SORRY, BUT I DO KIND OF OWE HIM FOR A THOUSAND YEARS OF ISOLATION. CAN I ASK YOU TO HELP ME MAKE AMENDS. ]

[ GROUP MESSAGE RECEIVED FROM CARL : FINE, BUT MAKE SURE TO TELL HIM THE STORY ABOUT GILLIAN AND DARREN'S ACCIDENTAL KISS AT THE TEAM MATCH THREE YEARS AGO. IF I'M GONNA GET KILLED BY LAUGHTER, THAT STORY DESERVES THE CREDIT. ]

Suddenly everyone but Klaire's eyes found him and Gillian weighed up the deal before shrugging and deciding that it was out of his hands now anyway.

He started by finishing the current story, then told the story of how Squidge and Klaire had them on the run and focused on their opponent, resulting in the accidental kiss incident, then finished with the story of Aegis, which was embellished considerably since he didn't know the actual story.

When he was done, Klaire was actually able to drift off to sleep for a while and all of them decided to find a corner to get some as well.

As they all slept a bit more comfortable on the bedrolls they had packed, rather than a quick nap around Gillian's performance, only Kyubi remained awake.

"These creatures put our kind to shame, don't they?"

"I know, it's a bit humbling at times, they are totally random and overthink things, they act rashly and overly cautious and they are both ignorant and beautifully wise. They are self-contradicting in almost every way and hate and love themselves and everything else in equal measure. They are everything we despise and everything we wish we could be and I love them, especially the two who love me in turn."

"If you ever get the chance Kyubi... Tell Tsukuyomi, I'm sorry."
