"Tiamutael, send Scylla to my location. Keep an eye on Illerion too."
'You mean Mums' and Dad's new friend? Why would I spy on her, that seems like a bad idea, I think she might kidnap me.'
"Good boy, just making sure you know not to do as your told if you know it's a bad idea."
Then Scylla appeared next to her and she laid Gillian down on the ground. "Good, you should be here for this. Now, stay by my side whilst I contain him."
"What is all this about containing them?" Scylla asked as she backed up alongside Gillian.
"Ascensions are similar to evolutions, for example, Alysse is no longer a gnome. We don't know much about them to be honest, Carl's whimsical ideas on the subject are likely going to be more accurate. The point of containing them, is that they can be unruly, we don't want unwelcome observers seeing what they become."
"Wait, but what about Lycaon and Illerion?"
Lillim sighed, then looked at Scylla as she contained Gillian. "Not many could stop Illerion, she is a nine-star and one of the most powerful of them. She once flayed a thousand demons because one flayed an elf, I'd rather have her as a friend than an enemy. If letting her be a part of this works to that end, then I have no arguments."
"Wait! You're telling me Lycaon wasn't just being dramatic?"
"Yes. She is known as the Queen Of Chaos-Elves and even Samael avoided her at all costs. Don't be fooled by that appearance of hers, she is ten thousand years old and has killed a thousand for every year. She is why the elves haven't panicked too greatly over their diminishing numbers."
Scylla began to sweat with the certainty of her newfound fear of her. "She and Kyubi seemed close though, so why is everyone so scared of her?"
"Ah yes, their time together..." Lillim trailed off. "...All I'll say is, don't think of time too linearly. I'm sure Kyubi would rather tell you about her past herself."
"One last thing. How do I become immortal?"
"Effort girl, if you wish to become immortal, you must perform feats that mortals can't. To become divine, you must do things that the average immortal can't and to become queen of your species you must prove to be the pinnacle of it."
After that, Scylla stood and watched and then screamed as Gillian seemed to explode into a legion of ferocious animals all clawing and snarling at the cage Lillim had erected.
"Don't threat girl, how would you feel if he screamed in terror at you?"
Scylla gulped, then looked again and realised that they all seemed to be focused on something... Lillim, as though they were reacting to the naturally cold presence that she carried herself with.
Scylla moved closer and put her hand on the invisible barrier, then began talking to them and sure enough, the beasts all settled. Wolves began to howl, tigers began pur and birds began to sing.
She took her lycan form and howled and then all the bests returned and reformed into Gillian. "Thanks for that, don't know why but Lillim was freaking me out there..."
"What is it? You don't look very happy."
"Oh, it's nothing, I guess..." Gillian was looking at the notifications in front of him, but despite the gains, he couldn't help but focus on what he saw as a loss.
[ IMMORTALITY GAINED ]
[ RACE CHANGED FROM HUMAN/LYCAN TO WERE-CHIMERA ]
"...Sorry, I just don't know how to feel. I'm not a lycan anymore, kinda feels like I lost who I am, or was."
"Hey, you still have me and everybody else. What are you?"
"A were-chimera. I guess it's my fault, I told Ishtar I wouldn't sacrifice my summons, so I guess she had to download Carl's gene-bank into me..."
"Ishtar? You mean the one that might be Carl's mum?"
"Yeah, her but please don't say she might be his mum, she doesn't deserve to be called "Mum" by anyone."
Scylla was curious about what happened, but more interested in cheering Gillian up.
"Children. I know you have much to discuss, but maybe you should reconvene with Blanc and Sophie. Offer Illerion my best wishes and tell Lycaon I told him he's wasted the last five-hundred years. Whatever you do, don't go back to the settlement until you're sure he's dropped the barrier."
"What wh- Actually, never mind, I think I know." Gillian said as he shook his head.
"What? What's going on back at the settlement?"
"Girl, you're far too pure for one soon to be wed." Lillim laughed before asking Tiamutael to take her back, leaving Scylla frustrated and blushing at the implication she was pure, even though the fact she hadn't twigged proved it.
"You know she can see if someone's a virgin by their soul right? Klaire told me she kissed Faylorna just to put a mark on how pure she was."
"Whose fault is it that I'm pure!..." Scylla shouted, leaving the words to echo across and throughout the ruins, enough alone to make her blush and then magnified when she heard Illerion's cackling in the distance. "...Queen Of Chaos-Elves or not, I'm slapping her..."
---Blanc's Ascension---
"So, anymore questions son?"
"One. Why the hell did you do what Ishtar said?"
"Well, faith I guess, there's no rule that says only humans can pick a god to worship. I love Lady Ishtar, she was kind, wise, creative and always loved whatever she made."
"Yeah, so much she put the weight of all creation on her "masterpiece's" shoulders, real loving. She didn't love them enough to kill her psychopathic husband before he could ruin everything."
"Wow! Loving the creations enough to kill her husband of almost seventeen thousand years..." Bluecap's fire flared with his laughter. "...Your standards for love are pretty high for someone who doesn't even love the woman he brought along."
"Just because someone has no food, doesn't mean they don't know it's value."
"Touché my boy. Look, for what it's worth, in my own way at least I love you son."
"Yeah and I sincerely hope that someday I'm able to regret not caring about that."
"Nah, don't regret it, just consider it my punishment for not being there. Any ideas what you'll do when you become the king of bluecaps?"
"Yeah, advocate."
Bluecap laughed hysterically, then in an instant turned into an inferno that filled the room and let itself be drained by Blanc.
"Here you go son, if you ever become a dad, show us how it's done!"
Those were the last words spoken between them and Blanc's mortal body burned away as he saw a notification appear.
[ FIFTH STAR ACHIEVED ]
[ ASCENSION WILL NOW BEGIN ]
Blanc's consciousness stretched into every ember of the inferno and then began to fade, the last thing he saw being the arrival of Illerion, Lycaon and Sophie.
"Wow, what a show!"
"Illerion, please show some reverence, Carl and the others wouldn't like you belittling the occasion."
"Yeah, I guess it is pretty special. He's still conscious Sophie, anything to say before he goes to sleep?"
"No, I'll have all the time in the world when he wakes up. Sweet dreams, Blanc."
"So romantic! Now let's get this place sealed up, it's about to get interesting."
Illerion and Lycaon bottled the flames in a barrier, then they expanded to fill the entire enclosure, remaining silent for over a minute.
"Impressive. I'm actually feeling a strain."
"Not too surprising, he's actually using our aura as fuel for his fire. "
"Is that special?" Sophie asked not out of excitement that her obsession might actually be as special as she thought him to be, but genuine interest as to the standards of special in the realm that was beyond her.
"I wouldn't say unique, but certainly impressive for a newly..." Illerion turned back to look at him, then back to Lycaon who was sweating. "...Scratch that, the rate he's burning it away is special indeed. I wonder."
Illerion got a wicked grin spread across her face, then split her barrier from Lycaon's so he took the full brunt of Blanc's burning.
Lycaon immediately began to tremble, then dropped to one knee. His annoyance began to bubble, but he knew he just had to endure the flash test Illerion had thrown at him, so he transformed into a half-lycan state more like that of Gillian and Scylla.
"Wow! Lycaon's showing such respect! This man of yours really is interesting! That cold dead heart, burning so passionately! Can I please share him, Sophie?"
"I'd rather not, but as long as I get him too, the choice is his."
"Can you two ple-" As Lycaon was about to ask them to stop distracting him, he faded and dropped.
"Seriously! Wow! Oh I can't wait to ask him, I hope he says yes, I want to feel those flames burning inside and out!"
"No offence Illerion, but you aren't all there yourself, are you?"
"Hmm..." Illerion sat down cross-legged, a playful finger pushing her head up for her to stare into Sophie's eyes as she thought about it. "...I guess not, I want what I want, but I'm not going to limit myself. I guess I'm a bit of a hoarder, I keep everything I ever loved, even if I don't love it anymore."
"When you say everything..."
"All my old lovers, territory, even trinkets... I guess the corpses and flayed skin is a bit much, but I just can't help it, you know?"
"Hey, I won't judge, I'm eighteen. I might develop a few quirks by the time I'm your age."
"Hahaha! You're pretty interesting yourself... Want me to send the wolf away so we can kill some time?"
"No. I'm not interested in anyone but Blanc. Even if he does take you, you can just sit in a corner and watch while I own him."
"Big talk for a virgin." Illerion grinned, before they both burst into laughter.
It was a strange mutual respect they developed, both were using the word love, but both knew it was simply a mask for word obsession. They both acknowledged the fact it wasn't what anyone would call healthy, but they were both utterly content in their own fractured minds.
Lycaon, who had regained consciousness, was slowly starting to see Sophie as a human reflection of the Chaos-Elf.
"Apologies, I think I'll be going." He said as he pushed himself to his feet.
"Okie-dokie, take care little pup!" Illerion cooed.
"Illerion, Queen Of Chaos-Elves. Sophie. It has been a pleasure, please bid Blanc my congratulations..." Lycaon had been about to say he was going to say farewell to Scylla, but sensed she was no longer around. "...Where did Scylla go? I didn't sense her leave."
"Probably that sweet little dragon-god of Carl's, I felt his eyes glance over us a moment ago. If, Carl doesn't mind, I might take him when he's mature... Maybe I need to change my ways though, his eyes seemed so nervous."
Lycaon nearly choked on his own tongue at the suggestion of her changing her ways, but simply bowed and left when she nodded.
"What did he mean by chaos-elf?"
"Oh, you didn't know? I'm not a normal elf, most are attuned to Life, Infinity and Order like Illum. I am what is known as Chaos-Elf, attuned To Life, Chos and Nothingness."
"So what about Dark-Elves?"
"Death, Chaos and Mind, mostly but they do have my counterparts known as Order-Elves. They are Death, Infinity and Order."
"I see, so life and death are the foundation of the distinction, then the other two decide sub-species?"
"Perfect! Say what you like about us who are a little "off" as you say, but we are far more logical and quick on the uptake. As a treat, you may ravish me if you wish." Illerion followed with a chuckle.
"Could I bite you instead?"
"Aww, bless. Sorry little Sophie, you don't have enough vampire in you to gain anything from it."
"I know, I just wanted to know and thought you might let me do it."
Illerion gestured for Sophie to stand in front of her then parted her legs as she laid back against the wall of the staircase and exposed her neck.
"I'll warn you, blood is dangerous to drink for something without vampiric nature, so I'm not sure what will happen.
Sophie knelt down without hesitation and bit gently. "Hmm, it's tough to judge the right pressure, I don't want to rip a chunk out accidentally."
"Don't worry about that, I cut my hand off once to get out of school."
"How did that work?"
"I learned to write with my other hand..." Illerion pouted as Sophie tried again, when she was still too gentle, Illerion rolled her eyes then grinned again and grabbed pinched Sophie's bottom hard enough to make clench her jaw and make the blood start to flow. "...Sorry, you were being a tease."
[ NATURAL EVOLUTION BEGINNING ]
Sophie reared back as the notification startled her and covered her bloody mouth. "I'm evolving?"
"Evolving!? You guys really are the greatest! A human has never naturally evolved into something supernatural, all were made or remade."
[ RACIAL VARIATION BEGINNING ]
Sophie suddenly fell back onto Illerion, who decided to just stroke the hair of her interesting new friend and at the same time inspect the body of her new potential paramour, until she had a better idea anyway and reposition Sophie to continue feeding as she evolved.
"There we go! Now I just have to wait until they both settle down..." She looked over to the flames in the barrier, then back to Sophie. "...Where did that she-pup go? I'm bored."
