Beyond SSS-Rank After Getting The God System

Chapter 204: Family Feud Part 2

When Carl reached her and dispelled the icy prison, she turned to face him and almost dropped to her knees on instinct, a half-formed word catching in her throat. "Sam-..." The word deteriorated into a savage growl. "...Carl, you're crossing a line taking that form."

"Oh? Grandma didn't seem to mind, but judging by your reaction, can I assume this is similar to Samael's true form?"

"If by similar you mean an insulting caricature."

"I don't care, it's fitting since I technically have demons to control, now stop stalling Aunt Clarisse."

The moment he said it, she went into a wild fury and lunged at him, her claws missing by millimetres, with every slice and infuriating her even more.

The exchange was happening in sight of Klaire and Kyubi who didn't look away as Lillim appeared next to the and created an aura platform so the three of them could join the others.

"Lillim, are you mad about Carl copying your divinity?"

"About the reckless decision, but not about the act, though since he's in control I'm not overly angry." Lillim crouched down as though to look closer, her old self had completely disappeared and she was looking more like the her they had come to know.

"Still, does he really look like a lesser form of Samael?" Klaire asked as Lillim, Kyubi and Gaia nodded.

"No wings or cloven hoofs, but the body is quite similar. Like a younger version I'd say. It wouldn't surprise me if he grew those later, but it seems his affinity with dragons caused a bit of mutation."

"How is he staying perfectly out of reach and controlling the boost so instinctively?" Gillian asked, a bit deflated after his and Blanc's poor showing.

"He's predicting the future and sticking to micro-movements and adjustments. He's not attacked yet because he doesn't want to kill her accidentally or even hurt her too badly. She knows it too, that's why she's getting so mad, but Carl's using that to make her sloppy... except."

As Lillim said the final word, Carl caught a wild attack and Kyubi shook her head with frustration. "When creatures are that mad, their emotions warp their actions and can even change which future is the one that happens."

"Yes. By the way Kyubi, have you three started trying for a baby? It isn't like the three of you to go for casual midday hook-ups."

"No, we were just clearing our heads and trying to distract Klaire during her first feed, her cravings grow more intense whilst she's feeding so we thought we'd show her there are other things to do."

"Fine, When you do start making babies, try it in these different forms of his. The results would be intriguing and if we can't bring the king back to his senses, this one could produce a good heir to the throne..."

Carl didn't need to pick himself up after the hit, he had been sent flying, but caught himself in midair and used his draconic feet to catch himself and deplete his momentum. Seeing Carl completely neutralise her attack so effortlessly made her even angrier than watching him dodge repeatedly.

"Carl, stop standing there and attack already. You are seriously such a disappointing brat, all that power and potential and you refuse to actually use it against your enemies."

"You're my aunt, not my enemy. I'm not going to hurt you in the slightest, Aunt Clarisse." His words were effective a bell to begin the next exchange as she flew into another wrathful volley of slashes.

This time however, Carl blocked as well as dodged, accepting that his decision not to do so previously was a bit of a bad decision and probably brought on by the inflated ego he was feeling.

The volley only lasted a couple of seconds, but hundreds of slashes had been made by Clarisse and blocked and then she reared back with all six arms to slash from both sides with all six arms at once, but Carl stepped in and pinned her arms and hugged her.

"For what it's worth, I do respect the real Samael quite a bit, he doesn't fight unless he has to either. Is it too much to ask that I just want us to be family, if you can't accept me as a human, I'll look like a demon when you're around."

"Carl, you're an idiot. None of us refuse to accept you, we just think you're too soft and this is proving it."

"I wasn't lying, I met Eckro, the son Samael betrayed. He told me what happened and I could see he was telling the truth, so why is it okay for the crowns to only take action when necessary, but not me?"

"They earned that right after proving their strength and leading the infernal realms in the war against god."

"Really? You weren't there for that though, didn't you only know him as the relaxed king of the demons?"

"Maybe I wasn't, but my older sisters were."

"So? Just because they saw it, doesn't change the fact that you didn't. You all love Gillian because he treats you like individuals, so why do you insist on presenting yourself as the very thing that robbed you of your identity? If you want to be more than just one of the daughters of Lillim, then throw the title away and just be Lillim's daughter Clarisse. The one who saved London from Jack The Ripper."

"How do you know him?"

"Jupiterran educated me on my hometown's history a little bit, told me he was one of the few things this place was known for, so I can guess how bad he was and the fact you felt so ashamed you ended him yourself proves you're a good person too."

"Ugh..." Clarisse was initially sickened by the sentimentality and considered teaching him a lesson. "...Tch. Whatever, I can't win without killing you, you won't fight. I surrender. Sorry Mum, I have brought defeat to the daughters."

Lillim had a subtle and very soft smile on her face, accompanied by a warmth in her chest that was a mix of pride and joy. "You did no such thing. You are no longer a daughter of Lillim. You are now, as your new leader commanded, Lillim's daughter Clarisse."

"Carl, do you know why she looks so happy?"

"I'd rather not think about what makes Grandma happy, I'll probably need therapy even more."

Clarisse hugged her nephew back. "Okay, well you better show me how to be a good person again, I think I've forgotten over the last couple of thousand years."

"The first step might be apologising to Kyubi and Klaire, we were doing it to distract her from the rush of feeding, for her at least it's a bit addictive and we wanted to distract her with something."

"So that's why Kyubi got so mad..." Clarisse backed up and looked up to their audience. "...I Surrendered already! Why are you still up there?"

"I asked you two to clear the area." Gaia stated her answer with a slight gesture to the remaining ruins as though it was obvious.

"Sure, just give me temporary ownership, I'll do your gardening for you. Not like you're an elder-god that could do it yourself or anything."

"Did I ask for cheek, or a hand?" The words were accompanied with a notification of ownership and Carl got to work, unexpectedly receiving micromanagement the whole time.

While that was happening, Clarisse made her apology and she and Lillim got to work on the transfer of command contract, then they all discussed the developments with Gillian, Blanc and Sophie.

Of course Lillim burst into laughter when she heard the story of Sophie's, even Gaia found the preposterous series of events amusing, but they also had some concerns. "I have to ask, is it blood you crave, or something more unique like Klaire's craving for divinity?"

"Not really sure, I was born full."

"Lucky, I'm always hungry and it's addictive and now I have to go bit by bit to find a balance between a satisfying meal and a gluttonous one. To make it even worse, I sleep next to two who are delicious, it's like sleeping in a cookie jar while you're on a diet."

"For what it's worth Klaire, you're doing great keeping the cravings under control. You went without any for a long time and then you still stopped quickly after a meal that was mostly blood."

"Yeah, don't remind me, blood is gross."

That in turn led to a discussion between all those who had tasted it, but strangely enough, the only two that agreed even a little bit were Lillim and Klaire after she said it was "copperish and unpleasant, but strangely arousing."

Which made Carl wretch a little bit as he arrived in time to hear. "Grandma, I really don't want to hear about your tastes and no offence, I really don't want to hear that you and my wife share them."

"Grow up, Boy. We aren't even related by blood. We-"

"Don't finish that sentence Mum!" It was at that point Carl returned ownership and officially welcomed Clarisse to the faction, then Lillim and Gaia dropped everyone back on the ground and asked Tiamutael to pick them up.

"Now, let's head back and let the mortals who need it get some rest. Kyubi said earlier that she wants to tell us her whole story."
