SSS Class Mythic Beast Master

Chapter 332: Reflection (2)

"About Angra Mainyu." Mimir's voice interrupted internal contemplation. "Did you check to see if all the tide has been swept away?"

Reinhard blinked, realizing that he'd been assuming rather than confirming. He switched to Angra Mainyu immediately.

Odin's symbol vanished from his right hand, the horned helmet and crossed swords fading from visibility.

Angra Mainyu's mark appeared in its place. The crown atop, split sun covered by a mask, serpent looped around, chains wrapped throughout, wings spreading outward.

Two crimson-black wings erupted from his back. They extended to the full span before folding slightly, positioned for sensing rather than flight. Reinhard closed his eyes, consciousness expanding through connection to corruption.

He began trying to sense that previous feeling he had when the tide was around. But no matter how much he tried, he couldn't feel his awareness spreading out like it could before. His one almost omniscient perception was reduced to being only a sense around the area, and a town area.

But he continued this for a bit longer, and then he released a sigh of relief. His eyes opened, expression showing satisfaction mixed with exhaustion.

"There is none."

Mimir nodded, visible tension bleeding from posture. "That's one less worry." His tone shifted, becoming more analytical. "Now the other issue is you having three Beast Spirits... I will be honest, I didn't expect you could access more pieces of them without taking their trials."

Reinhard nodded slowly. "I am guessing it's because I became a Second Class Beast Master, and that was enough?"

Mimir hummed in consideration. "Then the other challenge you need to deal with is Beast Sigils for all three."

Reinhard's lips twitched.

The prospect of hunting Phantasm Beasts to create Sigils for Odin, Fenrir, and Angra Mainyu simultaneously was overwhelming. He sighed, nodding acceptance despite reluctance.

"I don't want to think about that right now."

Mimir chuckled, sound carrying sympathy mixed with amusement. "It isn't so bad. It means you have a lot more options to further improve your powers."

"But it also means I need to think about what powers I should get."

"That's true. Are there any Beast Spirits you want to use here? I know you had most of their souls-"

"None of them seems like a fit for my current spirits. I will just ask for help and maybe head to Colin forest to hunt." Reinhard says softly.

"That's good."

Reinhard nodded before shifting topics. "You mentioned I would get dreams about Fenrir, but I haven't."

"Don't worry, it will come soon." Mimir's response came immediately, carrying certainty. "It's possible you're just fully experiencing Odin's origins before moving on. Or it might be that control freak meddling again."

Reinhard fell silent before his gaze shifted towards the sky as a peculiar look appeared. "I didn't notice it at first, but I see a lot of similarities with the dream and some things that happened here..."

Mimir looked up toward the blue sky, eye tracking distant cloud formation. "You're talking about the Frost Giants' inability to change being similar to the Seekers and Precursor people's unwillingness to change and clinging to the past?"

Reinhard nodded slowly. "It felt like the dreams were trying to help me gain experience with how frustrating and troubling it is."

Mimir hummed acknowledgment. "There is a saying that a Beast Spirit's dreams sometimes come when we most need them."

Reinhard blinked and quickly asked. "Are you saying the dream frequently appeared because it sensed my situation?"

Mimir laughed. "Maybe. We will find out once you reach the peak."

Reinhard fell silent before saying. "The Black Crimson tide… Did you really not sense that Angrya Mainyu was the flower?"

Mimir shakes his head and says. "I knew it was some type of curse, but I didn't think it would be… Because that isn't how things should be. That thing was just a fragment of Angra Mainyu, which again shouldn't have been possible to be here."

"Because they should be in the Throne of Myth?"

Mimir nodded and said. "If it were possible to leave a fragment of oneself here directly, then all those Beast Spirits would have done it by now."

Reinhard could see where Mimir was coming from. If this were possible, Fenrir would have simply placed a fragment of himself in the world and have it do the work of summoning him. This would allow it to not rely on others and have many chances to appear in the world through the summoning ritual.

Reinhard nodded before glancing at the wings. "Could you guys tell us or help us understand how you came to be here?"

The wings paused before transforming into arms, which waved their hands, leading Reinhard to sigh and Mimir to nod his head.

Mimir says. "Well, that's expected, but this is also worrying. If it can be found here, then what other Beast Spirit fragment could as well?"

Reinhard held his chin before saying. "Maybe previous incidents in history were the cause of these fragments? Or maybe this is unique to just Angra Mainyu?"

Mimir sighed and said. "I hope it's just unique… The issue is we don't know how it came to be here."

"Maybe Angra Mainyu was summoned here before, and a piece of it was left behind and got sent back to the Throne?"

Mimir fell silent before muttering. "What insane bastard would summon that thing…"

"Well, we people tend to be very crazy." Reinhard says, leading Mimir to sigh.

"Regardless of how the fragment of Angra Mainyu came. Based on the story we heard, the fragment attached itself to a flower which began growing during the Forerunner age. Then it used the negative emotions, conflict, and killing to grow itself."

"Yeah… The tide itself isn't just magic but the accumulation of the misery and curses of the people living in Eastern Hesod." Reinhard muttered.

"It isn't just the people but the Phantasm Beasts they fought and killed. The plants and nature they had to cut down to create their civilizations… Angra Mainyu absorbed all of that negative energy and used it to grow before launching its attack."

"Which further helped its growth after plunging the Forerunners' people into despair." Reinhard slightly frowned.

"That thing really made the entire Eastern Hesod its cultivation ground. The act of attacking people, taking away others, inciting hatred between others, all of it was to generate more negativity. Not too much that forces the people to give up, but enough to help it continue growing… Are you sure you want to keep a spirit like that?"

"I already promised I would show it a good and positive life. Besides, it's because of it that I could save Eastern Hesod and defeat Charles." Reinhard then stretched his arms and said with a grin. "Besides, why would I give up on such a good spirit? I have learned I should use everything around me, so I will."

Mimir's lips twitched before saying. "You're sounding a lot like that bastard Odin… But I agree with your words, having Angra Mainyu would help you. Especially its emotional and intent reading powers."

Reinhard smiled faintly before his gaze returned to the sky.

He was tracking the clouds drifting in patterns suggesting randomness, but perhaps hiding design. His mind wandered between past experiences and future possibilities, exhaustion mixing with contemplation.

Evening light continued shining down, painting the restored landscape in golden hues.
