The Invincible Doctor of the Female Village Chief

Chapter 13: Don't Eat the Bunny

The little girl giggled a few times, making the slightly worried Liu Zixuan laugh.

This 1.2 million could help the village with its urgent needs for now.

Although 1.2 million was just a drop in the bucket for the extensive village renovation project, for Liu Ruyan, who could only pay Liu Zixuan 500 bucks, it was quite a hefty sum.

After chatting briefly in the office, the three of them headed to Doudou's house. Sister Lian had already prepared dinner: braised rabbit. As soon as they stepped in, they could smell the aroma of meat.

The little girl, Doudou, shouted joyfully that she could finally eat some meat. But when she saw the remaining five little bunnies, she pouted.

Liu Ruyan asked, "You were just happy a moment ago. Why the sudden change?"

"The big bunny got eaten, and the little bunnies are still so small. It's so pitiful. I don't want to eat bunnies anymore!" Doudou said, aggrieved.

Her words made everyone helplessly smile. She was the one eating the meat, and also the one feeling sorry for the little bunnies. They really didn't know what to say.

In the end, Liu Zixuan promised to help raise the five little bunnies with her, barely making her happy again.

After dinner, Liu Zixuan took a stroll alone in the village.

It was a rural village, with the setting sun casting its golden light on everything. Every household had smoke rising from their chimneys, creating a very idyllic scene.

Nowadays, many city people flock to the countryside. Liu Zixuan couldn't understand why the wild vegetables used to feed pigs in the village were considered such a delicacy by city folks…

In the evening, Sister Lian had already prepared a room for Liu Zixuan.

But before he could fall asleep, he was drawn over by Liu Ruyan's excited laughter.

Liu Ruyan, holding her phone with a smile, said, "Who says good things don't come in pairs? The village men just recovered, and now there's a call from the town saying a wealthy businessman wants to visit for an inspection. Maybe he'll invest here!"

Upon hearing this good news, Sister Lian also showed a look of delight, murmuring, "Lingxiu Village's tough days are finally coming to an end!"

"Yes, things are getting better and better," Liu Ruyan said happily.

"We should thank Brother Zixuan for this."

The little girl Doudou hugged Liu Zixuan's arm, telling her mother and Liu Ruyan, "Since Brother Zixuan came to Lingxiu Village, he cured the men's illness, drove away the hooligans, and now an investor is here. He must be our lucky star sent from heaven to save us!!"

Liu Zixuan grinned at this and said, "Lucky star, I'm afraid I don't quite deserve that title."

"But Doudou isn't wrong, though."

Sister Lian chimed in, "Phoenixes choose sycamores to rest on, and cyan dragons find water to dive in. Zixuan coming here really has changed the village for the better!"

Seeing both Doudou and Sister Lian praise Liu Zixuan, Liu Ruyan was somewhat upset. Clearly, she, the village head, contributed too!

Watching Sister Lian and Doudou return to their rooms, Liu Zixuan approached Liu Ruyan and asked, "Sister Lian seems quite knowledgeable."

"Sister Lian is not originally from this village; I don't know the specifics, but her mannerisms aren't that of an ordinary person," replied Liu Ruyan, giving Liu Zixuan a sidelong glance. "It's all your fault, stealing my thunder after you arrived!"

Liu Zixuan spread his hands, smiling cheekily, "No need to bicker over this between us, dear partners."

"Who's a partner with you?" Liu Ruyan stomped angrily and went straight back to her room.

Liu Zixuan shrugged his shoulders and murmured, "One day, you'll be my wife."

...

The night passed quickly, and soon it was the next day.

The weather was sunny, with white clouds and the sun high in the sky, promising another good day.

Liu Zixuan woke up at five and went for a run in the mountains. When he came back, he saw Sister Lian and the others had already prepared breakfast.

"Do you still have the habit of morning exercise?" Sister Lian asked.

"I'm used to it; I feel uneasy if I don't exercise," Liu Zixuan said with a smile as he sat at the dining table.

Just as everyone finished eating, Liu Ruyan's phone rang. She looked at the number and smiled, "It must be someone from above. I'll go to the village entrance to greet them."

She didn't wait for everyone's reaction before running off.

Liu Zixuan also got up, "I'll go take a look with her; you all eat first."

"Take care of Ruyan; she's still new to society and could easily be taken advantage of," Sister Lian advised.

"No worries,"

With that, Liu Zixuan headed towards the village entrance.

When Liu Zixuan arrived at the entrance, he saw a Mercedes-Benz G-Class car parked there, with two men and a woman standing beside it.

The woman was naturally Liu Ruyan, and the two men, one slightly bald and appearing to be about fifty years old, had small eyes and an odd smile. The other was in a uniform, likely someone from the town.

Liu Ruyan stood beside them, introducing the surroundings, while the two men responded sporadically.

"Director, you and Mr. Huang should go to the village hall for a rest first," Liu Ruyan said after a while.

"Alright. You go ahead and prepare; Mr. Huang and I will stroll over slowly," the director replied.

Liu Ruyan nodded excitedly and headed towards the village hall.

Mr. Huang, slightly bald, watched Liu Ruyan's departing figure, patted the director's shoulder, and said with a smile, "Director Lu, this little village head isn't bad looking at all. Doesn't seem like someone from the village."

"Mr. Huang, she's one of those college students sent to the countryside, originally a student from a city university, and her name is Liu Ruyan," Director Lu replied.

Mr. Huang squinted and smiled, "Liu Ruyan…quite a nice name. With her figure and looks, it's a waste for her to stay in the village. I happen to be short of a secretary…"

As Mr. Huang spoke, a look of greed crossed his eyes. Apparently, he had another meaning for the word "secretary."

Director Lu frowned at this, a look of disgust flashing in his eyes, but he still forced a smile and said, "That still depends on her personal decision, though I think she might agree. After all, Mr. Huang's company is pretty big, much better than staying here."

Mr. Huang gave Director Lu an appreciative look, implying that "Director Lu could help persuade Liu Ruyan, and if she indeed follows me, the investment here wouldn't be an issue. Plus, you'd benefit too."

Hearing Mr. Huang, Director Lu chuckled awkwardly and led Mr. Huang towards the village hall without responding.

Little did they know, Liu Zixuan, hiding nearby, had seen this entire scene.

Watching their backs, Liu Zixuan smirked and cursed, "Old bald-head, daring to hit on my woman, seems you're looking for trouble!"
