The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 210: Tundra Snake Gladiator (5)

Dammit… I wish I had them as my teachers.

After complaining and working on a new plan within my head, a few hours of staying as this little rat had passed, and we were finally at a massive palace of ice.

I could only think of one thing, and that was:

Beautiful.

Everything about it was beautiful. From the few domed roofs with sparkling spikes coming out the top and amazing crystal-like gate that surrounded the entire place.

But, it seems I couldn't explore anymore as I suddenly felt somebody from outside my cell so I returned to my own vision and opened my eyes.

"What do you want?" I asked the man with black hair.

"I just wanted to see how you were doing after that fight. You've become a prized fighter and it would be a shame if you died of an internal wound you weren't aware of," He smirked and his statement made me question a few things.

Was there something special about that mammoth besides its big, bulky body and its terrifying use of magic at such a high level that no normal person could even have a chance at surviving?

"Was there something else to that mammoth?" I asked the man's face before I crumpled like paper as he was expecting me to beg for an answer.

"There was… But it seems it didn't even affect you… Well, that's that. Can't do anything about it," He shrugged before walking off with a scent of bloodlust lingering from him.

He was clearly trying to hide his anger, but he wasn't doing a good job at it as I could practically smell, see, taste, and feel it from a mile away.

A few days have passed and I had another match, but it was sadly with some small fry so I just wanted to get it over with quickly.

The announcer did his announcer thing and the audience did their audience thing and the opponent charged up a massive attack which I just watched.

Before this match, I was given special instructions to drag this match out as the colosseum is all about entertainment, not a tournament for the fighters to improve their skills.

While that is part of the equation, colosseums are mostly used as a type of betting sport like gambling or maybe horse racing.

You bet on the gladiator who you think is going to win and then hope to god that they actually follow through and win you some big bucks.

I mean, it's a pretty good sport to bet on seeing as there are only two fighters, but most of the time these two fighters are actually going to be at the same level… but for some reason, nine times out of ten, I keep getting this small fry.

Then there is the audience aspect which is basically how every other business works. They come for what you provide and if they enjoy it, they come back.

But if they keep seeing matches that end too quickly, then they probably won't come back unless there is a lot of hype between one of the matches.

"Hoh!" The man before me shouted, his white hair and glistening white eyes shining brightly as his katana was then coated in a blast of white light.

To be honest, it was a bit threatening but nothing I couldn't dodge, as…

"It's too linear," I muttered as I then side stepped out of the way of the massive white blade and the man struggled to lift the blade up again after trying to finish me with this one move.

Today, I was going to practice my swordplay on this guy as he had a sword so he must be good with it, right? Right? Right?

"Hoh!" He shouted as he deactivated the bright white light from his blade, allowing his regular long katana to be swung at me with such force that you could hear it ripping through the air.

I deflected it by just placing the side of my sword under the blade and letting it slide upwards, before ducking down and then going for a piercing motion.

My predictions were correct as he then redirected his sword downward, but I had already disappeared and closed the gap between us.

My sword tore through his brown tattered clothes and then pierced his heart… ending the entire thing in an instant.

"You were pretty good, but clearly not good enough," I smirked as he dropped to the ground and I held his katana in my other hand.

Nah… Feels weird using such a long sword with only one hand… Plus I think I do better when I'm gripping my sword with both hands.

A quick decision made me put down the katana and then let the attendees chain me before taking me back to my cell where I proceeded to talk with my maid while enjoying the juicy and delicious steak.

"Damn, is it really that good?" My maid asked and I gave her a vigorous nod which conifmred her question.

"Alright… my rats have infiltrated the castle so that's good. My rats have also been spread out through about a quarter of the kingdom. It's taking a while, but I should be able to finish taking over the entire sewer system in… two to three months," I muttered.

A few awkward seconds passed as I had just finished my steak and it seems my maid was mulling over something.

But eventually, she worked up the courage to tell me.

"Aren't you worried about the other girls? Don't you miss them?" My maid asked with a few drops of sweat sliding down her cheek.

It was a question I had been avoiding because it made me really miss the other girls and especially Mia since I kind of had an attachment issue with her.

But, this was good practice since I can't always be clinging to her and eventually, there will be a year or two where we might not see each other.

Whether that be because of war, or we are split up to do a few different assignments… Though, I do really want to see her and the rest of the girls.

"Okay, I understand," My maid said after seeing my facial expression.

It was more than enough for her to understand that I wasn't feeling so good about the subject and I of course miss the other girls.

"But, I'm not worried about them. I haven't felt any life changing injuries on my body, so I'm assuming all of them are fine. We might not be able to communicate with each other, but our bodies sure can," I added and my maid just nodded.

We continued to talk about the strong glaidators I had saw for about half an hour before my maid brought up yet another question.

"When was the last time you took a bath, Mistress?" My maid asked and judging from her face, I assumed I smelled terrible.

"Before I left to go inspect the mountain and later up kill the yeti," I said and a drop of sweat ran down the back of my head.

My maid was super keen on hygiene and even though I get to brush my teeth here, I couldn't bathe as there were no baths.

"Can't you get your rats to bring some wet towels or something?"

"Oh, that's a good idea,"

And so, I used my rats to bring some hot water towels which I used to wipe myself down and I then just incenerated them because putting them back would just be too troublesome.

It was nice, refreshing, and relaxing as my maid wiped the dirt and grime off my blood stained body.

"I'm glad I remembered I had a damn inventory otherwise I would've died from that dry ass food," I muttered.

That's right, I was eating that dry ass food while forgetting I actually had an invetory to help me store things.

This bathing session continued and my maid brought up a new topic after feeling another wave of awkward silence come forward.

"You really look like a gladiator now," She chuckled and I giggled as well.

"How are my muscles looking? Do I look strong?" I asked while flexing my back and my maid just chuckled again before saying,

"Well, you have some ways to go, but you're more muscular than most woman… Do you want to get lean muscular because this right now is the perfect chance to build your body. You have no other responsibilities besides fighting, so training your body is the perfect idea," My maid suggested… but it's not like I hadn't thought about it.

Judging from my reaction, my maid just glared at me and continued to wipe down my body.

"So you were too lazy huh… You know what, we'll be training together," My maid suggested and I had no idea about the hellish training she was about to put me through.

And so, three months had passed by and boy was I different.
