The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 232: Evolution

"You need my permission?"

"I-I guess. That's one of the notifications I received upon hitting a max level and… I think our relationship is good enough, so I thought maybe you could let me evolve,"

"Honey, of course. Though, come here first. I want to help you with something," The empress said with a stupid expression as she gestured for me to go under the sheets with her.

"Ew… No, thank you,"

"No, no, no, I didn't mean it like that. I just wanted to help you adjust your body to ice magic," The empress said, but then she suddenly muttered something under her breath. "Because you suck ass at it."

"Do you want to die?"

"Ahahahaha! No, I do not! Anyway, let me actually help you. You're my little sister after all,"

"What kind of big sister tortures their little sister into doing something? Huh? Tell me. Yeah, that's right… but I won't decline your offer,"

"Look, I have reflected on my mistakes and now trust you very much,"

"I know that's not true, and I'll never accept you as my big sister. I already have a few anyway, and bonding with somebody like you would just be outright betrayal," I muttered before sitting down on the bed next to the empress.

Suddenly, she placed her cold hand on my shoulder, and I felt a rush of adrenaline coarse through my veins.

I felt my fingers strain against one another as strange energy flowed through my body, and then… my body glowed a strange white light that permeated through the entire castle.

[You are evolving]

Huh? What happened to the options? The selections? Wasn't I able to evolve into what I wanted before? What changed?

But before I could even begin to brainstorm, my mind was shut down, like somebody had pressed the power button on my brain.

Everything went black, but when I opened my eyes again, I saw something that would've made me drop to my knees.

"M-Mom?" I muttered as a glowing white figure in the distance smiled at me.

But she didn't say anything as my metaphysical body slowly drifted away from her, my consciousness within the unconsciousness slowly merging with my real body.

I could feel a hard surface encapsulating me, and a slimy and sticky substance coated me like the ooze of a slug.

Everything had gone dark, but this didn't leave me hopeless.

I felt an instinctive feeling to push against the hard surface around me, so I pressed with both of my hands until I could no longer press anymore.

I felt so weak despite me feeling so strong not even a few minutes ago.

"Urgh… Come on…" I muttered through gritted teeth, and finally, after about an hour of repeating this process, I finally managed to crack the hard surface.

I pressed on it again, and somehow, my arm pushed straight through, entering a cold atmosphere of white mist.

The frigid mist slowly entered my egg, so I continued to press forward until I finally managed to break out… and I had finally evolved.

"H-Huh? O-Oh, hey, she's awake! She's awake! Get the empress!" A maid in front of me shouted before calling over a few other maids inside this cold and loosely decorated room.

Is this my room? What happened to all the furniture? Why is it all shoved to the side?

Though, the answer to my question rested right behind me.

As I swiveled my head, I saw a broken green egg with patches of blue and white spots dotted all around it, emitting a frigid and almost siberian mist.

I then glanced at the mirror beside me as the maids ran around, getting things prepared for the empress' arrival.

My white hair continuously shone with a rainbow tint, I grew at least an inch taller, and I still kept my thug look… which I had already gotten used to, but besides that, there was a change much more important.

My wings had fully sprouted, but they were now just bones, without a single feather on them.

"What's the point of giving me wings if I can't even fucking use them… geez… Alright, well, at least I feel much stronger than before," I smiled as a woman soon entered the room.

"Hmmmm… That's pretty good," I muttered with my smile only growing wider, but information soon flooded my mind about what would come next.

"Now that you've evolved… give me my crown," The empress said, and instead of her usual spoiler tone where she attempted to be my big sister, she now looked like a desperate villain clinging onto a last bit of hope.

"Are you really that desperate for the crown?" I asked, and the empress swallowed a large gulp of saliva.

"Come on. I helped you out. Now you have to help me out,"

"Nope~... I know what will happen next. You'll ascend into some type of spirit, and you won't give a shit about this kingdom. I've been with you for a long time now, so I now realize how truly fucked you are in the head…. You had a good attempt at trying to manipulate me… and I almost fell for it,"

"Lucy, help me out. Please, I helped you out, so help me out now,"

"I heard you the first time… It seems you manipulated yourself into a bad position. You see, I'm not the best at manipulation, and Clio would've already dug you into the dirt… but this is quite fun,"

I didn't know why, but a rush of euphoria coursed through my body after seeing the empress look so desperate.

This was… really fun.

"Kekekeke… Okay, then let's win this war first," I smiled, and the woman glared at me with a sweaty expression.

She was clearly stressed, miserable, and overall rageful at her situation. Still, now she couldn't do anything because her one chance of ascending into godhood or spirithood was placed on me.

"Did you think you manipulated me enough?"

"Tch… what do you want?" She asked, and I could now see the reason as to how she stupidly manipulated herself into putting me into the favorable position… she was more stressed than I anticipated.

When I first saw her, it was obvious she was stressed, but now that I see her with that expression, all I see is somebody trying to meet a deadline.

"Did you make a bet with somebody?" I asked, and the empress began to sweat even more.

"No… What do you want?!" She requested again, and my smile grew even wider to the point where my lips began to crack.

"Ah, this room is pretty stuffy…."

[Servant of Flames] [Servant of Ice] [Servant of Death]

These new variant skills that I acquired seemed like a branch from the feather servant I had last time, and just like I thought… they were my new maids.

"We humbly greet the princess," They all announced while kneeling on the ground in front of me.

The servant of flames had full white skin and long fiery red hair with the ends blossoming into actual little flames that didn't create any heat but were very beautiful. Her eyes were bright orange, and she had an ecstatic face, unlike the others who were more serious than ever.

The servant of ice had pale skin and shorter icy blue hair with the tips blossoming into beautiful icicles that didn't seem to weigh on the maid's head. She also had beautiful baby blue eyes, which sort of contrasted nicely with her serious expression.

Finally, there was my servant of death, who had tanned skin and shorter black hair that blossomed into deathly bones. They were very cool, just like her almost soulless pitch-black eyes. On top of that, her expression was the most serious, to the point that you would think she might be annoyed at serving me.

"Do you not like me?" I asked the deathly servant and her eyes suddenly widened, actually showing some decent emotion.

"I-I wouldn't dare to," She immediately replied, and now I could tell she was just very serious.

"Okay, clean up this room…." I ordered, and just as the icy and deathly servant followed my orders, the fiery one asked a question that made me blush.

"Would you like me to help you change into some clothes?" She asked with a fully serious expression.

Ah… what a bad first impression I've made upon my new maids.
