The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 240: The Treck (2)

They were now becoming fearful and were less motivated to defend their den… eventually leading to their downfall as they escaped this snow and blood-ridden battlefield.

"ALRIGHT, MEN! CHARGEEEEE! SPLIT UP FROM YOUR GROUP AND CHARGEEEEE!" I shouted as I had already killed the dire wolf king, meaning this wasn't some type of run-away tactic where they could sneak attack us.

Without a leader, none of them could come up with this on the spot.

Snow soon began to fall.

"Foooo… That was a nice battle. How many casualties?" I asked the new recruit, and she immediately came up to me with information I honestly wasn't expecting from her.

"About a hundred. Forgive me, I could've protected more, but I was too busy trying to restrain the flow of the wolves,"

"Don't blame yourself, and the casualty number is still pretty good. We probably have about four thousand men now… so… let's pack it up for today. EVERYONE SET UP CAMP!" I shouted across the entire forest, and as my voice echoed through the trees and through the ears of my soldiers, a rumbling came from the distance.

"Cora, can you go check it out?" I made a sincere request with puppy dog eyes as I wasn't really feeling like checking it out right now.

"Just get your maids to do it or something," She groaned before hopping off her horse and helping to give instructions to everybody present.

Setting up tents and distributing rations was a tedious task, and with some directions, it was sped up by quite a lot.

"*sigh*... All three of you check out that rumbling. Do not take any action without my permission. Just gather information and come right back," I ordered, and my maids followed these instructions faithfully.

"As you wish," They all responded before disappearing into the snow storm, slowly beginning to swirl around us.

After a few hours, the maids had finally come back when the snow storm really began to pick up steam, though everybody had already secured their tents to the ground and just enjoyed their own little meals within their own squads.

It was a nice atmosphere, and as the commanders, we only had a better experience than everybody else.

Our tent was enough to walk around in a figure of eight, and for example, the normal squadron tent was like a single square while ours were like four squads turned into a bigger square.

We made our own hot meals within it, which were alright, but we weren't going to complain as we needed the energy.

We even had two large windows made with a clear version of the tent material on each side where the door wasn't placed.

This allowed us to not only monitor outside but also gaze out at the beautiful falling snow… though I think I was the only one doing that.

"Shut up and stop making out!" I shouted at the top of my lungs, but the two right next to me continued their lip lock without any regard for me.

"Tch… Alright, what'd you see?" I asked as the maids beside me neatly lined up and lowered their heads before my presence.

"It was a yeti and a strong one at that. I believe Mistress would have a nice challenge if you both fought," The servant of death explained.

"Hmmm… I see. Okay… I'll just deal with it now, then. I got nothing else to do anyway,"

As soon as I stepped out into the blizzard, I felt absolutely nothing. No cold. No warmth. No fear. No sadness. No happiness…. Just a strange amount of bloodlust radiating from deep within my soul.

"I'm hungry,"

As soon as I appeared in front of the yeti, my eyes lit with a small green flame, spreading to the rest of my body but then being extinguished by the falling snow.

"Is this snowstorm your work?" I asked the giant thing, which suddenly felt my presence from behind it.

Clear it was smart enough to get offended by me giving up the chance to sneak attack it as if it was disappointed or mad that it seemed like I was underestimating it.

Its white hair, massive ten-meter tall body, horrendously ugly face, and strong muscles all worked in tandem to create this horrific monster.

"You're quite interesting," I chuckled before creating a test spear made of ice.

I chucked it at the yeti's face, and just as I had anticipated, it blocked it with its hand, not leaving even a scratch on the palm of its hand.

"*sigh*... [Snow Magic]," I muttered as the Yeti charged toward me, cracking any trees in its path.

The snow around us suddenly froze in place as if somebody had stopped time itself, preventing it from falling any further.

The snow then slowly formed into massive spears that were sent flying at the yeti's eyes, and just as his attention shifted to these things, I made a spear of bright white flames sparkling with hints of a rainbow.

My spear swirled like a vortex of flaming winds, slowly folding into itself to try and create the most powerful weapon in existence.

FWOOSH… SHING

The yeti just barely managed to dodge the spear from hitting a fatal spot on its body, but the chunk of flesh ripped from its torso wasn't pretty either.

Soon, it would bleed to death, and it knew that… so it miserably charged in, hoping to kill me or possibly even lay a finger on me.

As its massive fist came flying towards me, I ducked down, causing it to brush right across the top of my head, just barely knicking a few hairs.

"You're gonna make me go bald," I smiled before twirling around and then running up the yeti's arm.

It tried to shake me off, but all attempts were hopeless as I just jumped onto its neck and then set alight with burning white flames that engulfed not only the yeti but the forest around me.

Ssssssss

Steam soon arose from the ground, and the watching eyes of my maids were ready to collect the nice parts of the monster.

"Is this thing edible?!" I asked my maids as they soon ran up to the corpse and summoned blades of their own respective element, cutting away at the already decaying flesh of this monster.

"Yes. We can harvest its meat and eat it, but that is, of course, up to your decision… Shall we collect it?"  My servant of flames asked, and as I nodded and sat on the new white-covered ground, a single question slipped into my head.

"Hey! What happened to my previous maid!? I liked her a lot, and she was very useful to me!" I shouted as my maids proceeded to work their asses off.

"She has returned to the almighty Master and Mistress. If you evolve once more, I'm sure you'll be able to see her," My servant of ice replied, and I just sighed a bit disappointingly.

"Is there something wrong with our service?" The servant of death asked earnestly, and I could tell if I said something even so much as a bit negative, she would immediately punish herself very harshly.

"No, there is not… I was just wondering,"

After we had gathered all the edible flesh, I cooked it and distributed it amongst the soldiers, though I didn't tell them where it came from.

They didn't seem to have a probably with it, though, so I just smiled happily as I watched them all have some fun in this dark and a bit depressing time.
