When I entered, I could feel the intense pressure weighing down on everybody, so in order to ease the tension, I activated [Aurora Borealis].
Soon, everybody began to calm down, and we could finally think straight with our heads, not trying to rip themselves off of our own bodies.
"Now, everyone. It has begun. This is just a single battle out of the entire war. This may be the first battle, in fact, but that doesn't mean we can slack around and lose. This is the most important battle. A battle for morale and a battle for hope. Are you ready?" I asked, and everybody cried out with their hearts practically spilling into their voices.
I smiled gently before taking a seat, and my maids brought out the large map that we would use to our advantage.
"We shall start here. The mindless fire giants will continue down to the dukedom while we attack the leader and dark elves from behind…." I muttered, and the discussion continued for at least an hour more before everybody was ready.
The plan was simple. Wait for the fire giants to lock onto their targets within the dukedom and allow them to rampage for a few seconds before sneak attacking the army from behind.
Each undead was something we hadn't taken into account but with the help of my maid… I was sure I could freeze for even just a little bit.
"I will freeze the undead in their place, but I will do no more. I am just a humble servant of my Mistress, but also a disciple of my king and queen," She muttered and her tone of voice was so serious that nobody dared to refute her statement.
I knew she could've done more but releasing her full power once more would definitely take too much out of me and I needed to be the key center stone of this fight.
If I wasn't here, then everything would go to shit… well, Cora can still cover for me if I'm out for just a bit.
And so, we soon set off upon seeing the army travel further and further into the forest, on the track of reaching the dukedom within a single day.
The fire giants were already sniffing out the rocky houses that were built within the dukedom, hungry for destruction.
Fire giants were things that gave into their instincts as sacrificing their intelligence gave them nearly indestructible bodies.
But then, how would we kill them if they were indestructible? Well, it's quite simple, but nobody besides me was up for the task.
Just like regular golems, they had a core that was naturally made, and by destroying that core, you would instantly shut down their weak nervous system, thus cutting off the signal to their feeble brain and ridding them of their last bits of processing power.
The thing is, I had to shut them down strategically in order to minimize the amount of damage done to the city while maximizing the amount of damage done to the opposing armies… so that was a task I had to really think about.
For the next day or so, we made sure to stay way far behind, and our hiding tactics were perfect as the armor we had made kind of served as a blanket of camouflage for us in the shadows.
It would spread out into a large dark shield, and as we covered it with snow, we were practically undetectable.
"Just be careful of that armor. It might do more harm than good if we let it have free reigns, so make sure to control it. Also, never give in to any demonic instincts it might implant within you; otherwise, I'll kill you myself," I announced to the army after just narrowly escaping the eyes of a scout sent out by the army we were following.
They must've already realized somebody or something was following them as their scouts were merciless and would sometimes even manage to track one of our stray members down… at that point, we were forced to let them go and see them get slaughtered.
There was no time for torture as the tension of war continuously grew, and they needed to keep up the morale on their side.
"Speaking of morale… we aren't doing good," I muttered to myself as I saw the tension within my army slowly rise into an almost impenetrable force, just like the fire giants.
If it was somehow cut, the entire plan would go to shit as my army would most likely scatter and run from fear.
Plus, my little pep talk on the black armor didn't help out my case in the slightest… so it was kind of my fault.
"What should I do?" I asked my maids for advice, and their ears kind of perked up as they knew me asking something from them was a special occasion that came only once every blue moon.
"I would recommend handing out a single beer to everybody present. That would help ease some of the tension without completely snapping it," My maid of flames suggested, but I had already thought of this.
"I would've done that, but we're completely out of alcohol. The dark elves knew where our storage was and used that to try and inferno the entire storage house. Thankfully, it only burned through our alcohol and nothing else… but that means we're completely out," I muttered, but my maid of ice had a good suggestion.
"Use [Aurora Borealis] but control it. Try not to reveal a presence within the skill… This is a good time to improve and hone your skills before battle, so test it out. Under the pressure of potentially revealing your entire army, you'll definitely improve,"
Cora, who rode next to me on her own separate unicorn, looked at my maid as if she was insane, but I kind of wanted to test it out.
I've never made such a move like that on such a large scale before, so pushing me past my limits was a good form of training.
"If it ever does grow out of control, then I'll be there to stop it. Your skill is quite weak, in fact," My maid of ice said with a straight face.
