"S-Several S-rank dungeons? L-Like actually S-rank dungeons? And we have control over several of them?" I muttered just as Celestine helped shut my jaw.
"Actually, it's nine, to be exact. And I already told you we practically hold the world in the palm of our hands. Our objective has been completed, and we can now just bask in the fruits of our efforts… though, just for a bit. The monster paradise is expanding at an exponential rate. We'll have to deal with them eventually, but I believe it is time to take a vacation, right?" Amanda explained, and her suggestion was definitely appealing.
I looked at all of the other girls and saw how they were practically about to explode with excitement, as if they had all already planned this. I couldn't just turn them down now.
"Fine… but, lemme relax here for the rest of the day. It's been a while," I sighed, and my sisters all immediately nodded their heads before dragging me around the base, showing some drastic changes to the decorations.
I feel truly happy and blessed right now.
…
A day of staying in this base soon turned into a week before we left for our vacation as there were tons of things I wanted to talk about and tons of things my sisters wanted to show me.
But, soon, we caught up on pretty much everything there was to talk about, and as we left our amazing base to the surface of Iceland, a thought came to mind.
"Hm… I wonder where Cora went,"
We then proceeded to head out on our beautiful and untouched vacation that would last for about a month or so.
…
(Cora POV)
"*gasp*... Huff… huff… huff… huff…."
I awoke in a foreign place, in the middle of what seemed to be a hall fit for a throne, allowing me to stand up and scan the area.
Sweat dripped from practically every orifice on my body, and my nerves skyrocketed as I saw a man in a black suit of armor sitting at the very top of the throne, looking down on me.
"W-Where am I?" I stuttered out, but the man's cold eyes were the only response I was given.
Suddenly, the clanging of armor came into my room, and taking advantage of my shock and concussive state, a few knights dragged me out of the throne room and dragged me down into what seemed to be a dungeon.
I was swiftly thrown into it and was forced to eat the scraps that they tossed immediately through the cell bars.
"Can't anybody talk to me!" I shouted, but there was absolutely no response.
Okay… let's calm down and think this through… I was on the battlefield, and then the massive tree started to spew lava.
Eventually, I was killed, but then it seems I reawoke somewhere else. Maybe I was kidnapped just as the event started to happen?
"Cora… is that you?" A voice sent chills down my spine, and when I turned around, I saw somebody that nearly made me cry tears of joy, but then a sudden explosion of anger flooded through me as I saw the state she was in.
"Babe… have they not been feeding you?!" I exclaimed as I held her frail and extremely thin body.
I could wrap my entire palm around her wrist probably twice if I actually had the flexibility to do that.
"I-I thought I would never see you again," She muttered, tears flowing from her eyes as she quickly wrapped her frail arms around me.
She was shaking like a scared puppy, but as she dug her face into my collarbone and took a whiff of my familiar scent, she began to calm down.
I immediately used my only healing skill on her; a small red flame appeared in the center of my hand and fixed her malnourished body into her previously elegant and thin but healthy physique.
The color and flesh returned to her face, and I almost cried as she hugged me even more, pouring out all of the built up sadness and fear that had washed through her over these… wait, how much time has passed since she's come here.
Seeing how malnourished and thin she was, she must've been here at least a few months… and I just came here today, so…
"Babe, what happened here? Where are we? Who were those guys and that king sitting up there arrogantly?" I asked her, but she was still too entranced in my scent to let go, so I continued to comfort her until she finally calmed down.
But, she soon fell asleep in my arms, and as a knight passed by, I shielded her vulnerable state from his roaming eyes.
As he passed by the cell, I caught a glimpse of another prisoner who had seemingly gone insane in the cell just parallel to ours.
"How brutal," I cringed as he attempted to eat his own flesh, but under the quick reprimand of the guard, he was kicked against the wall, nearly bleeding to death as blood leaked from his fragile torso.
I quickly snapped my gaze away and made sure to shield my dark elven girlfriend, who had just woken up from the horrible sight.
"It's okay… I'm already used to it," She calmly muttered, and as her swollen eyes prevented her from getting a good look at me, I just held her hands before asking once again,
"Can you tell me what happened here?"
"We're in a different plane, but it's filled with all kinds of nasties. Also, humans are the main attraction of this plane… and… well, we are all souls from another plane who were summoned here by the king of this domain. I think it was called… The Monster's Paradise?"
"What a strange name… wait, how do you know all of this? Were you able to initially escape this place first?"
"Nah… there was somebody else down here in this cell who told me everything before she ended up passing away from getting whipped too much by the guards,"
It seems I brought back some bad memories, so I quickly took my girlfriend into my grasp yet again and comforted her until she felt comfortable continuing her explanation.
"There isn't much I know, but from what I do know, we're in a horrible situation… and I didn't have the courage to leave. I can most likely escape, but in a world of humans, I doubt we can live peacefully. That's basically why this monster sanctuary exists… and the peace is about to be ruined by the humans… We should run away. Somewhere far where both monsters and humans won't touch us,"
"Then… shall we leave now?" I smiled down at my dark elven girlfriend, and as a piece of hot-red ice spread from my feet, the wall behind us cracked open, revealing just how far up a mountain we were.
At the bottom of the mountain was a massive and expansive city that seemingly spread on forever.
"It's beautiful," We both muttered, and upon hearing the loud stomping and voices of the guards swiftly coming to check up on us, I took the dark elf's hand and jumped down from the mountain, plummeting through the air.
As we skydived, I looked over at my girlfriend, who had her eyes shut and was screaming in terror, making me chuckle just a bit more before closing the gap between us and bringing her into my embrace.
"W-We're gonna die, idiot!" She cried out, her tears rapidly flowing upwards into the air.
As I chuckled lightly once again, my hot-red ice spread from my back, creating a pair of wings that carried me upwards, shooting us through the clouds.
"Are you sure you wanna leave?! We can always stay with this civilization since it seems like a variety of monsters are already down there!" I shouted through the rapid sound of wind tearing past us.
And just as we reached above the clouds, we felt the hot sun beam down on us while the cold atmosphere was a familiar sensation that seemingly served as a blanket that wrapped kindly around us.
It was peaceful, silent, and, best of all, romantic as we hovered in the air, my girlfriend in a princess carry that made her continuously blush.
"Do you want to kiss?" I asked the dark elf for consent, and as she removed the hands that covered her embarrassed expression, she slightly nodded.
We immediately locked lips but didn't dare to make out here as we soon separated.
"Let's get going… I'm sure we'll be chased until the end of this plane, but will you marry me?" I asked, a blush slowly creeping up my neck and to my face as I couldn't hold back my nerves.
"Y-Yes! I want to marry you! Please let me marry you!" She cried out with tears flowing from her eyes but a beautiful and large toothy smile making my heart beat so quickly that it felt like it was about to tear out of my chest.
"I love you Synzer,"
"P-Please don't call me by that name,"
"Well, you'll have to get used to it since we're going to be marrying," I chuckled before flying off into the distance, escaping the quick watch of the kingdom's aerial force.
