(Lucy POV)

Late that night, I found myself curled up in a ball on my mind, paranoyingly glancing around the room. The shadows almost seemed to swirl into that goddamn demonic figure which continued to curse my life over and over again.

She was the reason my life went in this direction. She was the reason everything happened. She was the reason my life turned out like this. I was like the monkey king dancing in the palm of Buddha, unable to escape its set-in-stone destiny.

And as I slowly backed further and further into the depths of my bed, a long but cold sweat trickled down my forehead, and I found myself shivering with fear. I had never been so scared like this than when I first lost my mother.

It felt like nothing was in my control, and within only a matter of seconds, everything could be gone with just a snap of an omniscient being's fingers.

Ring ring… ring ring… ring ring…

The screen of my smartphone lit up, illuminating the darkness around me. So, I slowly brought myself to lay upwards and annoyingly reached towards the device sitting on my nightstand. It was cold and hard, but unlike my surroundings, it was bright.

Too exhausted to even look at who contacted me, I flopped back on the pillow below me and brought the phone to my ear.

Beep

"Hello? Sweetheart? It's me, Mia. Ada told me you were having a hard time, so I came over… can you open your door?" A soothing voice flooded my brain, causing a wave of emotions that I just barely managed to suppress to flood out from my eyes. "Oh… honey, don't cry."

As I hung up the phone and walked over to the door across the pitch-black room, I attempted to wipe the tears from my face. But just like the emotions that flooded through my body, the tears just wouldn't stop.

As soon as I unlocked the door, it opened wide, revealing my girlfriend, who was just standing there with a warm smile. Her presence was warm and comforting. I wasn't even hugging her yet, and I could already feel her presence caressing me.

I cried even more, breaking down into ugly tears. I dropped to my knees and was just barely caught by my girlfriend, who picked me up by my arms and brought me in for a warm and loving hug.

I only cried more. Her embrace was so warm and loving that it almost reminded me of my mother. If it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't have made it so far in this world. If it wasn't for her, I probably would have been in someplace else, completely overrun by the system and turned into a bloodthirsty killing machine, falling into the cold and manipulative embrace of the goddess watching over me.

"It's okay… It's okay… here, let's go to bed… okay? Can you look at me, Lucy?" Mia requested, so I slowly drifted my eyes upwards until our pupils connected. She widened her smile even more before picking me up by my thighs and laying me gently down on the king-sized bed behind us.

She stayed holding the back of my thighs as she leaned forward and gave me a light kiss on the nose while I attempted to stifle my tears. But before I could even suppress a few of them, Mia turned me over where I was lying in between her legs and laying atop her baggy sweatshirt.

"Do you like my highlights? I thought dyeing the ends of my hair would look cool," Mia smiled, lighting a pink flame from her right hand and grabbing the tips of her long hair with her left hand, gently bringing it towards me.

I only glanced at it before pulling back and shifting into her sweatshirt, lying against her bare stomach and chest whilst poking my head out the top. I was met face to face with the beautiful woman who extinguished the pink flame and began to gently rub my back.

"Want to tell me what happened? It's completely fine if you don't, but I feel getting a bit off your chest would be nice. I'm sure it would help…"

I couldn't tell if it was the drowsiness talking or my actual feelings talking, but I proceeded to tell Mia everything, down to the last tiny detail. It was most definitely a trauma dump, but Mia accepted all of it with a smile, continuously rubbing my back until I felt completely safe.

"Okay… that's a lot…" She lightly chuckled, bringing her eyes down from the ceiling to me, who just stared at her collarbone. My arms slowly rubbed upwards to her chest, allowing me to almost tuck myself into her sweatshirt whilst she continued to rub my back.

I was so sleepy now from getting everything out and Mia's sensual rubbing that I could hardly keep my eyes open. And Mia realized this, so she quickly gave me a kiss on the forehead before saying.

"I love you…"

"I love you too…" I murmured before drifting off into the land of dreams. The only thing in my mind now was my girlfriend, who continued to help me sleep. She was more than I could ever ask for, and she was more than anybody could ever want. "Sweet dreams…"

The next morning, I awoke outside of Mia's embrace but tucked into the sheets. I quickly darted my eyes around the room, trying to find my lover, and well, I didn't have to look much longer as soon found her beautiful figure lying right next to me.

She was awake, laying naked on her stomach whilst typing on her laptop sunk into the mattress below us. Tha fan was running crazy from the uneven surface, but Mia looked too invested in her work to even attempt to stop.

"Oh! You're awake!" Mia's ears perked up as she rolled over onto me and shut her laptop, making sure nothing could interfere with our intimate time. But I also came to the sudden realization that I was also naked, so I felt her pure warmth roll against my own chest, completely overwhelming mine. "Oh, come on, honey. Just focus on me."

As her lips slowly approached mine, I softened my own quivering lips and allowed her to deeply and lovingly kiss me on the lips, a string of saliva immediately separating as she backed up.

"Do you want to do it?" She slowly caressed my cheek. "Don't worry, I'll be gentle and soft. No kinds of play today… just some casual…." Her lips approached my right ear. "... fucking…"

"Okay…" I muttered, relaxing my body and looking up at the woman who gently smiled. Her lips looked softer than ever, and her eyes glistened with excitement. I mean, it's been forever, so I could assume she was excited.
