Jason drove his Escalade at full speed through the remainder of the woods until Sarah shouted at him to stop.
"Stop! We're too close, they'll hear us!" Sarah urged.
Jason slammed the brakes. "Everyone out! Move!" Jason barked. Behind them, the massive convoy of vehicles ground to a halt. The gangsters, all heavily armed, poured out and approached the edge of the forest, ready for war.
Officer Sparks gnawed on her lip. She was now in an even more uncomfortable position. If she thought she could easily walk away before, she doubted it now. She feared being declared an accomplice to a possible mass murder attempt. Although she still had the pistol Ethan had given her holstered at her hip, she didn't feel safe at all. Her arms trembled, but she made no rash moves, only breathing slowly, trying to avoid drawing attention.
The group reached the edge of the woods and spotted the cabin in the distance, only perimeter lights illuminating the grounds.
"Where is the boss?" Jason asked Sarah, lowering his voice.
"He told us to stay put," Sarah replied. "He was going to try to sneak in, so I'm not entirely sure where he must be right now."
"Shit," Jason hissed. "If we go in with everything we have, we might ruin his plan, or worse, get him killed."
As Jason hesitated, a single gunshot rang out near the cabin.
"Go! Go now, now!" Jason screamed, charging forward faster than anyone. Falcon One and Two followed close behind, rifles blazing.
The hundred gangsters erupted from the woods. Their sustained, heavy fire caught the guards by surprise, who scrambled to hide behind their vans to return fire. The sheer volume of firepower from Jason's forces was far superior, and the guards were easily overwhelmed.
(POV SHIFT: ETHAN)
In the cold, dark chamber, Ethan stood frozen. He knew that any combat, especially a shootout with professional guards, would immediately shatter the flimsy invisibility sphere and expose him and Cassandra. He had to be better.
Ethan thought: Hey, System, do you still have that 'human knowledge garbage' you talk about? Do you have anything to help me use the weapons I have? I need experience; I'm not even sure I can hit them if I fight.
[Of course, Champion, I have something very useful,] the System replied immediately.
[Special Agent - Gain the knowledge of a special forces agent, obtain their shooting skill - 100 Lux]
"Excellent, that's exactly what I need right now," Ethan thought.
[I also have this other one if you need it. It's a good complement,] the System added.
[Guerrilla Tactics Lvl 1 - Fight like a member of the Viet Cong or South American guerrillas, excellent for urban and swamp combat - 100 Lux]
Ethan looked at his remaining points—only 243 Lux. Buying both would leave him nearly broke, but he had no other option. He had idiotically walked into the lion's mouth, and now he had to use everything he could to get out.
He pressed Buy on both. A refreshing surge of knowledge, techniques, and experience flooded his mind. He felt as if everything was the most natural thing in the world. He gripped the pistol, and it was as if he had been using it his whole life.
Ethan turned to Cassandra. "Can you walk?"
"Yes," Cassandra whispered, still trembling but meeting his gaze. "It hurts a little, but I won't be a burden."
Ethan pulled her into a brief kiss and hug. "I will get you out of this, no matter what. I promise you."
"I know we will get out of this because I'm with you," she replied, returning his kiss deeply. "I trust you. I'm not afraid."
Ethan kept kissing her, his hand moving to stroke her buttocks, trying to console her, knowing he couldn't let her spirits flag.
The hatch door above rattled, about to open. Ethan pulled Cassandra roughly toward a shadowed corner, covering her.
A guard descended the stairs, carrying a pipe and chains. He looked around the empty room. "Damn it! Where the hell is that bitch?" he cursed.
He ran down the rest of the stairs. His scream had alerted his partner. With no other option, Ethan darted out of cover and fired one shot, aiming directly at the first guard's head.
The Special Agent skill was impressive; he didn't even aim, just extended the pistol, and blew the guard's head off. The second guard reacted, lowering his rifle and pointing it toward Ethan, but he received three rapid shots: one to the chest, another to the shoulder, and a third to the head.
[It looks like you need a little more experience, my esteemed Rambo 3000 limited edition from a flea market,] the System jested.
Ethan smiled faintly. "Don't worry, I'm just warming up." In front of him, two messages popped up:
[Living being (Human) assassinated - 100 Lux points]
[Living being (Human) assassinated - 100 Lux points]
Ethan thought "Hehe, looks like I recovered the investment. Excellent."
Ethan grabbed a rifle from the floor and positioned himself covering the hatch. The shots had drawn the other guards. He heard shouts, footsteps, a total mess. He was ready for them to stream through the door, ready to take them all out, when an astonishing volume of gunfire erupted from outside. Shouts and curses resonated incessantly.
Ethan smiled. "Jason is here," he told Cassandra, his voice filled with adrenaline and relief. "It's time. We're getting out of here one way or another."
Cassandra clung to him, the sounds of the massacre outside a constant, deafening roar. Ethan cautiously began to climb the stairs. The hatch was still open, and he slowly peeked his head through the opening.
Before he could properly assess the situation, two bullets slammed into the wooden floor near his head. The impact sent wood splinters flying, and the sound resonated painfully in his ears, but it wasn't enough to stop him. He quickly pulled back, motioning for Cassandra to stay behind him and wait for a brief moment.
Cassandra nodded, watching Ethan intensely, his body coiled in concentration. A brilliant, reckless idea struck her. She moved forward swiftly, getting close to his tight, dangerous body. She reached down, pulled his zipper down, and exposed his thick manhood, taking him into her mouth with one swift, hungry motion.
Ethan gasped, the shock of the sudden, hot intimacy momentarily overwhelming the chaos outside.
