Once they were far from the bookstore, "huff... huff... huff," Dylan and Amy stopped, breathing heavily in front of a family restaurant. Then Dylan pulled Amy inside and led her to the furthest booth, which had no window but offered a view of the entrance.
"We'll stay here for a while," Dylan said.
"Yeah... thanks, babe. But how did you suddenly split into two like that? I nearly passed out when I saw it," Amy replied.
"Haha... sorry, I was forced to show you because it was an emergency," Dylan replied.
"But... how could my family's people find me at the bookstore? Why were they there? Am I always being watched?" Amy asked.
"I don't think so... but someone must have seen you going to the bookstore often, and when those people asked, they answered," Dylan replied.
Suddenly, "dling," a message came into Amy's smartphone. She immediately looked at the message, and her eyes widened. The message was from Clara and contained only one word: "sorry." Not long after, "driiiing," Amy's smartphone rang. Clara was calling her when she saw the message had been read. Amy immediately stared at Dylan across from her. Dylan picked up the call and turned on the speaker.
"Hello... is this Amanda?" a man asked.
Amy immediately trembled because she knew who the man speaking on the phone was. Her hand reached for Dylan's hand and held it.
"Hey... answer, is this Amanda?" the man asked roughly.
After a long silence, "click," the call was ended, but not long after, "dling... dling," three messages all came into Amy's smartphone at once. Dylan opened them. The first message showed three photos of a married couple, their heads covered with sacks, deceased and seated in chairs, taken from various angles. Seeing those photos, Amy immediately began sobbing and covered her mouth with her hand. Dylan immediately moved and sat next to Amy. He instantly hugged Amy.
"Who are they, Amy?" Dylan asked.
"Dad... Mom... they killed Dad and Mom," Amy answered, her voice trembling.
"Huh... what?" Dylan asked, looking back at the photos on Amy's smartphone.
Then, "dling," another photo came in. This time, it showed a woman wearing only underwear and Clara also wearing only underwear. Both were tied to chairs with their eyes blindfolded. Several shirtless men covered in tattoos and holding weapons surrounded the two, as if ready to kill them on command. The background looked like a large warehouse full of rusty old cars. The background was different from the previous photo.
Dylan clenched his fists when he saw the photo. He turned to look at Amy, who looked very terrified, pale, and trembling. He immediately hugged Amy, who was sobbing uncontrollably, but suddenly, "dling," another message came in, and a video arrived. Dylan pressed play.
"Hey... let go... don't hurt Clara!" a young man yelled.
Dylan's and Amy's eyes widened when they saw Aaron, bruised and still in his school uniform, being led over to where Clara was. Aaron then struggled when he saw Clara, and with a limp because his legs were covered in blood, he approached Clara. Then he immediately hugged Clara while the men pointed weapons at him. Aaron stood in front of Clara and her mother, spreading his arms. Then the video ended.
"Damn it, they captured Aaron. I don't know what happened to Aaron," Dylan muttered, furious.
"I'm sorry... this is all my fault... I'm sorry," Amy cried.
"It's not your fault," Dylan replied, continuing to watch the video and holding Amy close.
Suddenly, Dylan noticed a blue brooch on Aaron's tie. He immediately stood up and grabbed his smartphone, then played the video once more. After that,
"CATS, can you track Aaron's location?" Dylan asked in his head. [Yes, sir, he is wearing my brooch. As long as he is near Clara and her mother, they will be safe because my protective radius covers them.] "Okay, tell me where they are quickly," Dylan replied.
"Bwooong," a screen displaying a city map appeared, with a blue cat head symbol as the pointer. Dylan immediately turned to look at Amy and sat back down, holding both of Amy's shoulders.
"I need you to go home and lock the door. I'm going to save them. Trust me," Dylan said.
"No... I'm coming with you. This is my family's business. There's no way I'm going to stand by and let my sister be in danger," Amy replied firmly, wiping her tears.
"But you're pregnant... you shouldn't be in danger," Dylan countered.
"Our baby is strong, just like its dad and mom... don't worry," Amy replied confidently.
Dylan looked into Amy's eyes, which were full of certainty and trust in him. Finally, he nodded and smiled.
"Alright, let's go," Dylan replied.
"Yes, let's go, my husband," Amy replied.
They immediately left money on the table for their drinks and walked out of the restaurant. Then Dylan picked up Amy princess-style and, "byuuup," he immediately teleported and disappeared with Amy. Dylan ran across the rooftops of buildings and kept running while continuously teleporting, following the map to where Aaron, Clara, and her mother were. Half an hour later, "byuuup," Dylan and Amy appeared at a warehouse separated from the complex of warehouses in front of it.
The warehouse looked abandoned and unused. Dylan held Amy's hand and approached the warehouse entrance, passing five sedans parked in front. Dylan used his 'vanish' skill and made Amy disappear with him by holding her hand. They entered, and "bam... bam... bam," a sound of gunshots echoed from inside. They immediately ran towards the direction of the shots at the back of the warehouse.
It turned out two men were shooting at Aaron, who had his arms spread and his eyes closed, shielding Clara and her mother, who were tied to chairs and seemed to be screaming with their eyes covered. Dylan turned to see the two men who had come to the bookstore where he worked standing frozen and looking confused.
[My dome shield is working, sir. Please eliminate them.]
Without hesitation, Dylan immediately carried Amy on his back, and Amy instantly held Dylan tightly from behind. Then he immediately charged toward the seven shirtless, tattooed men who were confused because their bullets weren't hitting Aaron. "Thwack," Dylan kicked straight to the side and punched a man's face without revealing himself. Both men were immediately sent flying, leaving the others completely confused.
But before they could register their shock, "thwack," Dylan smashed the back of his hand into the man behind him as he spun and, "thwack," he kicked the man in front of him again, sending him sprawling under Aaron's feet. The remaining three men immediately pulled out their pistols, but "tap," "boom," Dylan jumped, and his hand caught a man's face, slamming his head to the ground. He swept the man next to him, then slammed his elbow into his neck as the man fell.
"Gh-ghos-ghoooost!"
The one remaining man immediately ran, and "blam," the man with glasses, slicked-back hair, and the pinstripe suit shot him, sending him tumbling to the ground.
"What is this... why did you suddenly fall?" the man asked.
"Click," "click," Dylan and Amy suddenly appeared. Dylan pointed a pistol at the back of the glasses-wearing man's head, and Amy, whom Dylan was carrying, pointed a pistol at the other man.
"Oh... how are you, little princess," said the man Amy was pointing the gun at.
"Little princess, huh? Sorry, we were forced to do this so you would show up. Mr. Marco is waiting for you to marry you and become the new family leader," the man with glasses replied.
"Blam," Amy suddenly shot the man she was pointing the gun at, and "click," she pointed the pistol at the glasses-wearing man from behind. Dylan was shocked to see this. He turned to look at Amy's face, which was cold and cruel, unlike the Amy he knew. She didn't hesitate at all, and there was no remorse after shooting someone, acting as if she were completely used to it. And the terrifying part was, she was silent but acted and planned without saying a word.
"A-Amy?" Dylan asked, not believing it.
[This is Amy's true face. She's the one I spoke to that night, and the one who proposed and carried out the plan to trap you without any hesitation, causing the others to follow her lead.]
"I-is that true?" Dylan asked.
[Of course it's true.]
