Unaware of the troubled thoughts of the human Archmage in charge of the defense against the monster stampede, Scaly herself had come to realize that the beastkin adventurer covered in blood from head to toe was far tougher than she had originally anticipated. Even after five minutes in what looked like a near death state from her point of view, he somehow still managed to hold back the terrestrial beetle lord.
This kind of durability was both terrifying and admirable, as outside of being somewhat annoyed at the fact that the beastkin adventurer managed to hold on in the face of the relentless attack from the terrestrial beetle lord, she did feel a sense of genuine admiration for this beastkin adventurer. After all, it was not everyone who could continue fighting in that kind of state, as she had already seen countless adventurers retreating from the frontlines after receiving far lighter injuries.
Not just the adventurers below, but Scaly clearly understood that she herself wouldn't be able to continue fighting like the beastkin adventurer after being beat up that badly.
However admirable as the endurance of the beastkin adventurer was to her, she still found it rather frustrating that the other party hadn't been forced back yet, as it meant that there wouldn't be a chance for her to take advantage of the situation when the frontlines broke and the adventurers were forced to retreat back behind the towering city walls and rely on the barrier to fend off the monster stampede.
Originally having thought that it would take no more than a few minutes for the beastkin adventurer to be forced back by the terrestrial beetle lord, she was no forced to realize that the other party wouldn't be breaking any time soon. Meaning that she would likely have to look for a slightly weaker target to ambush, as it would be difficult for her to kill an adventurer above level 100 or a similarly powerful monster without the chaos that would be created by the forced retreat by the adventurers when the terrestrial beetle lord pushed back the beastkin adventurer.
Of course, she understood that the beastkin adventurer couldn't possibly hold on forever and would eventually be forced back at some point. The problem was she had no idea just how long this tough little cookie could hold out. An hour? Two Hours? Or maybe even longer…
No matter what, she didn't plan to wait around for that long without doing anything, as she would have been able to kill enough monsters to be comparable to those powerful adventurers and monsters during such a long period of time.
Another target… Guess I will settle for those slightly weaker monsters about to retreat…
Silently thinking this to herself as she made up her mind and decided to stop lingering around above without doing anything, Scaly focused her gaze down towards three monsters already heavily injured and in the process of freeing themselves from a battle with a group of powerful adventurers. After which, they would retreat towards the gathering location for the other powerful monsters that had left the battlefield ahead of them to recover.
Although not the strongest monsters on the battlefield, these three monsters were by no means weak and would have been difficult for her to take on under normal circumstances but having the ambush advantage along with them being heavily injured, it shouldn't be too difficult for her to kill the three of them.
The only real problem was that those three were located close to the place where the beastkin adventurer and the terrestrial beetle lord were fighting with each other. Although she might not be directly interfering with their battle, she had no idea if the terrestrial beetle lord might suddenly turn its attention towards her during the ambush. Potential viewing her as a traitor to the great cause that was breaking out of the dungeon, after seeing her attack the three injured and weakened monsters.
Uncertain as she was, she didn't launch her attack immediately after her three targets began to retreat and instead observed the increasingly terrifying battle between the terrestrial beetle lord and the beastkin adventurer. Waiting for well over half a minute as the center of their battle shifted away from the three retreating monsters before she finally saw her opportunity to strike-
Rumble~!
However, just before she could dive down to take care of the three heavily injured monsters, a loud rumbling sound suddenly echoed through the first floor of the dungeon, causing her to momentarily pause before turning to look in the direction that the sound had come from. An act that was imitated by both the adventurers and monsters below, as the chaotic battlefield momentarily paused for a few seconds as everyone turned in the direction of the strange rumbling sound.
But… Compared to the monsters and adventurers below, Scaly could see farther than anyone else and was therefore the first one to see where the strange rumbling sound that had spread throughout the first floor of the dungeon floor had come from.
What… What is that… Another monster horde…?
Her first thought being that another monster horde had appeared and was currently charging towards her current location to join up with the one that was already attacking the city blocking the path out of the dungeon.
A thought that lasted for about three seconds before she realized that the thing she saw in the distance wasn't a monster horde but instead seemed to be a single massive creature.
The reason why she had mistaken it for a monster horde was because the creature was far too large and far exceeded the size of any monster she had encountered so far. Even making the baby kraken seem small in comparison.
As for what this monster looked like… Scaly honestly had no idea how to explain it, as it just looked like a moving mass of flesh, blood and bones that squirmed weirdly. Far from a living creature, it looked more like the carcass of a once living creature that had been brought to life and turned into this… Sludge of flesh and bones that now traveled in the direction of the dungeon entrance while causing loud rumbling sounds to echo throughout the first floor of the dungeon whenever it moved.
Feeling both a sense of awe and disgust at the appearance of this massive monster that looked far from ordinary, Scaly didn't waste any time as she inspected the strange monster. Curious about what it was, while at the same time also feeling a sense of excitement knowing that this strange monster would be able to break the stalemate between the adventurers and monsters. Potentially giving her the opportunity she had been waiting for…
[Living Dragon Amalgamation, lvl 1]
[Description: The corpse of an ancient dragon brought to life through the usage of necromancy, the living dragon amalgamation is far from simple and isn't a natural monster, but instead an artificial one that can only be created through the usage of necromancy or in certain special locations over long periods of time. Not normally favored by necromancers strong enough and with the ability to bring such a strange monster into the world because of its uncontrollable nature and the fact that most necromancers able to get their hands on the corpse of an ancient dragon would much rather create an undead dragon or a bone dragon.
The strength of this twisted amalgamation of flesh is far weaker than the dragon used in its creation but does still possesses a level of strength that is beyond the level of a normal S Rank Adventurers. However, this is not the most troublesome part about this artificial creation. Instead, it is its sheer size and ability to assimilate any corpses it encounters to grow stronger and heal itself. Difficult to deal with, only the strongest S Rank Adventurers are recommended to try and take on a living dragon amalgamation on their own.]
However, as she read through the description of this strange yet massive monster approaching the chaotic battlefield from afar, she couldn't help pausing slightly at the description and name of this monster. Having to look a second time just to make sure she had read the description correctly before looking back at the monster in question.
No matter how hard she tried, she really couldn't associate that living mass approaching the battlefield with a dragon. Even trying to sense the dragon bloodline inside the other party, there was nothing. Meaning that although the monster was apparently made up from the corpse of some powerful ancient dragon, it didn't carry the slightest hint of a dragon bloodline.
Carrying the name of a dragon in its name, yet not even having the slightest bit of dragon blood in it…
A realization that made her somewhat curious about where the blood she could see in that strange monster had come from, as it shouldn't have come from the corpse that had been used in its creation…
