Reincarnated as a Lizard

Chapter 346: Creating the First Dream Magic Spell

Knowing that she needed the dream floaters to continue biting into her, Scaly had to keep up the battle for as long as possible without revealing the fact that she could now move through the sky of the dreamscape, a fact that would undoubtedly cause these dream floaters to give up and try to escape. After all, it was clear that the only reason they dared to attack her was because she hadn't been able to properly attack them while being restricted by the sky of the dreamscape. Even if hundreds of them perished, it was clear that these dream floaters considered it worth it if they could take down a large target like Scaly.

Still… Even if she knew that allowing the battle to continue was to ensure that she would be able to move through the sky of the dreamscape with ease in the future, it was still difficult to hold herself back from going on a rampage with all of the dream floaters biting into her and shattering a large number of her beautiful scales in the process.

Recovering was possible, but the fact that she would have to move around with shattered scales for the next few days was an unbearable idea that also meant her defensive strength would be significantly lowered.

But to ensure she could fly through the sky of the dreamscape in the future, it was worth it, as she understood from what little information that she had gathered so far, that it was difficult for adventurers to move through the sky of the dreamscape on their own. Meaning that if that powerful adventurer came to the dreamscape again chasing after her, she would always be able to leap into the sky of the dreamscape and escape. Ensuring her own safety against any powerful adventurer or group of adventurers who might think of hunting her down.

All this culminated in her holding strong in the face of the pain that was wrecking through her body with each new dream floater piercing into her flesh.

In the end, to ensure she could properly cover her entire body, she even had to endure two bites to her should and one to the side of her neck before she could fully circulate dream magic throughout her body. Managing to avoid having to get bitten somewhere on her head thanks to the bite to her neck that by far turned out to be the most dangerous bite from the dream floaters.

Of course, though it had been the most dangerous bite she ended up suffering, it was also the last bite she ended up having to endure before she could fully coat herself in dream magic and move freely through the sky of the dreamscape. The bite in question having been deliberately guided by her to happen from one of the weaker dream floaters that were still able to get through her scales to ensure as little damage as possible.

Swish-!

And almost the instant she felt herself capable of fully coating herself in a thin layer of dream magic, she had no intention of holding back against the dream floaters that had already caused her significant harm over the past few minutes. Exploding wildly as her claws swept outwards in a swift motion too fast for the dream floaters near her to react-

Ptsh-! Ptsh-! Ptsh-!

Allowing her to kill off over a dozen dream floaters with a single sweep of her claws, something that instantly caused the rest of the dream floaters to panic. Clearly sensing something wrong, the second her claws had swept out and reaped the lives of over a dozen of their companions-

Flap

Swish-!

Unfortunately, Scaly had no intention of allowing any of these dream floaters that had tortured her over the past few minutes to get away, as she flapped her wings that had already been coated by a thin layer of dream magic alongside the rest of her body. Allowing her to rapidly accelerate towards the now panicking dream floaters. Showing no mercy as she began to wildly slaughter the dream floaters that began scattering in panic to escape from.

Unlike before when Scaly had been stationary and unable to dodge or fight back with anything other than her magic, she could now make full use of her great speed and powerful claws that were more than strong enough to cut through the weak dream floaters that had no real ability to fight back against her.

Her magic that had been used entirely to fight back now being dedicated to taking down the dream floaters that were about to escape or to further help elevate her own speed to chase down the escaping dream floaters.

In a short time, an endless string of experience floated in, as the number of dream floaters falling to her quickly surged from a few hundred to several thousand. The original group of dream floaters numbering in the hundreds, having clearly grown several times over during their attack, something that Scaly now felt grateful for.

After all, though the dream floaters didn't provide her with much experience on their own, the strongest among them only barely giving her somewhere between two thousand and three thousand experience, the sheer quantity of dream floaters more than made up for it.

And as she cut down the last group of strong dream floaters attempting to work together to escape, she successfully managed to reach level 39, something she hadn't originally thought to be possible without finding an especially powerful monster to kill.

A truly happy turn of events, as she made her way back to the small floating island to assess her current situation. Knowing that while she could now easily make it to the floating continent, her current state was far from optimal and she might end up in a dangerous situation if she rushed to the floating continent immediately.

Not to mention, her need for food had been momentarily solved, as she discovered that some of the stronger dream floaters didn't turn into dream fragments upon death and dissipate like the weaker ones did. Leaving behind food for her, as she had quickly discovered that these dream floaters, while fierce, were rather delicious. Bringing back the dozen or so of them that hadn't turned into dream fragments before finding somewhere on the edge of the floating island to enjoy her meal while examining her current situation.

Chomp~

Deciding by first taking out a large bite of the fiercest of the dream floaters that had also been the first to break through her scales before shifting her attention towards her status. Curious about how much her dream magic had improved after she learnt the ability to coat herself in dream magic and move through the sky of the dreamscape. Creating what could have considered her first official dream magic spell.

Name: Scaly

Race: Dreamscale Dragon

Dragon blood: 31% (Uncommon)

Level: 39/40, 3%

Mana Heart: Second Circle

STR: 1047 |VIT: 2417 | DEX: 1349 | M: 4182

Magic: [Dragon Water Magic, lvl 9], [Ice Magic lvl 3], [Wind Magic, lvl 7], [Lightning Magic, lvl 4], [Dream Magic lvl 5]

Skills: [Dragon Bloodline, lvl 4], [Dragon Flight, lvl 8], [Poison/Venom Resistance, lvl 5], [Dragon Claw Strike, lvl 9], [Dragon Breath (Water), lvl 6], [Corrosion Resistance, lvl 4], [Pain Resistance, lvl 6], [Swimming, lvl 6], [Dragon Heart, lvl 1], [Endless Vitality, lvl 1], [Agility, lvl 1], [Brute Force, lvl 1]

Looking through her status, the first thing that stood out was the fact that her dragon water magic had managed to reach level 9, a similar level to her dragon claw strike.

Although surprising, thinking about the hundreds of dream floaters that had perished to her water magic, it wasn't that surprising. Especially considering how she was also using her water magic whenever she used her dragon breath attack. Making the increase in level understandable, though it was clear that it had taken significantly longer to reach level 9 compared to her dragon claw strike.

Outside of her dragon water magic, the one that had been the focus was her dream that had surprisingly gone all the way from level 3 to level this time around. Surpassing both her lightning magic and her ice magic in a single step. Showing just how amazing the new dream magic, she had come up with thanks to the assistance of the dream floaters was.

Of course, outside the improvement to her magic, another skill had also improved thanks to the battle… And unsurprisingly, that skill was her pain resistance. Showing just how painful the experience of being constantly bitten by the dream floaters had truly been…
