Legolas was visibly shocked. His eyes widened significantly upon the mention of the title, the Sword Saint.
He immediately pushed himself up from his seat, moving with the quickness of a trained warrior, and performed a deep, deferential bow toward Armin.
"Forgive my insolence, Saint," Legolas said, his tone genuinely apologetic. "I couldn't recognize you, as... you still look quite young."
There were very few individuals who commanded respect across the entire continent, regardless of their background or station.
These were the warriors who held the title of Saint—those who had pursued a single path to its absolute pinnacle.
Whether one was a King or a high-ranking Royal, protocol dictated that they must show reverence, as the Saints were recognized as some of the strongest existences on the planet.
"Haha! I've maintained it quite well, Prime Minister," Armin replied with an easy smile, accepting the reverence without changing his relaxed posture.
"No need for such formalities though, please speak freely." He then shot a teasing smirk across the room at Hamdal, as if silently asking, 'What do you say now, old friend?'
"We should have our chat there, then, Headmaster," Legolas suggested, pointing toward the sofas where Armin was seated, effectively including the Saint in the discussion.
"Why not, Prime Minister," Hamdal said, offering a helpless, slightly strained smile. There was no point in protesting now.
The two of them moved toward the sofas and took seats, the Shadow Guards remaining vigilant by the wall. Armin adjusted himself slightly to face Legolas.
"You're a busy man, Headmaster, and I apologize for the intrusion," Legolas began, his expression growing serious. "So I won't speak in a roundabout manner. Let me get to the point."
"Please send over Elena Moonshadow to the World Tree Palace. We would be taking her under our care," Legolas stated, his voice polite but firm, cutting directly to the purpose of his visit.
Silence descended upon the room, thick and immediate. Hamdal's face grew solemn, his expression unreadable.
"What is the reason for your obsession over this young girl, Prime Minister?" Hamdal asked in a stoic voice, ignoring the direct request.
"This is a concerning issue, Headmaster. Her life is in danger, as well as the future of the unified races," Legolas explained.
"I think you've got the proof from the attack on the academy a few days back. The girl is still in the infirmary, isn't she?"
Hamdal straightened slightly, his massive presence dominating the space. "Every student, professor, and officer in this academy is under my care. I don't just treat them as family, Prime Minister. I take that responsibility very seriously. As long as I'm alive, no harm shall come to them within these grounds."
"I understand, Headmaster. But this concerns the existence of the unified races as a whole. It is too grave a matter—" Legolas couldn't finish his argument as Hamdal cut him off, his voice getting distinctly colder, echoing with an underlying challenge.
"Do you not believe that I can protect my students? Am I this weak in your eyes, Prime Minister?"
Sensing Hamdal was dangerously close to losing his temper and making this negotiation impossible, Armin smoothly interjected, leaning forward on the sofa.
"I understand your concern, Prime Minister," Armin said gently, playing the role of the reasonable third party. "But a student can't be just handed over. You have to understand that."
"I know, Lord Sword Saint," Legolas conceded, nodding respectfully toward Armin. "But no place is safe for the girl right now. Only under the protection of the World Tree can she be truly secure."
"What is it, Prime Minister? What are you not telling us?" Armin pressed, his voice sharp and serious now. "At least explain why you are so concerned with that young girl."
Legolas released a deep sigh. He clearly did not want to delve into the details, but seeing Armin demanding an explanation, and realizing Hamdal would not bend without one, he knew he had no choice.
"Our Queen, the Saintess, had a vision," Legolas revealed, dropping the words like heavy stones. "It's regarding the future of the whole planet. And at the center of it all is that young girl, Elena Moonshadow."
Hamdal and Armin both opened their eyes wide in unadulterated shock.
They both knew exactly who the Saintess was. Her visions had never been wrong, and had saved them countless times in the past.
She was the very person who had first warned the world about the arrival of the Eclipse Beasts. Because of her foresight, the unified races were able to prepare in advance and stave off total annihilation.
Her words, and thus Legolas's request, could not, under any circumstances, be taken lightly.
"The girl holds the bloodline of the Moon God. Which is what the Eclipse Beasts are after," Legolas revealed, his voice dropping to a low, ominous tone.
"Why?" Hamdal asked, surprised by the divine significance of the revelation.
"The greatest weakness of the Eclipse Beasts, the one thing that has stopped them from pushing further into our territories, is their inability to survive sunlight," Legolas began, his gaze intense.
"But what if this weakness of theirs vanishes? They would be able to roam the lands even under the sun. Making it impossible for us to hold them back," Legolas said, his words painting a chilling picture of planetary ruin.
"But how would they achieve this?" Armin questioned, his earlier nonchalance completely gone.
"With the help of Elena Moonshadow. She is the solution to this weakness of theirs," Legolas stated gravely.
"Her bloodline can help them survive the sunlight when they incorporate it within theirs," he explained.
"But there are bloodlines of the Sun God that exist," Hamdal countered, his brow furrowed. "They could very well use that. Then why the bloodline of the Moon God only?"
"You think they haven't tried that?" Legolas asked pointedly.
Both Armin and Hamdal looked surprised by the implied answer.
"For some reason," Legolas continued, "they burn away instantly even with a trace of the Sun's bloodline. It's poison to them. But some time ago, a young child with the bloodline of the moon was born within the Dark Elves—one of their captured resources. They used it to test and, surprisingly, it didn't do them harm. Rather, they could even take on the sunlight to some extent." The revelation drew a collective gasp of shock from the two men.
"Then why do they need Elena now?" Armin asked, already anticipating the terrible answer.
"Because the bloodline they got from that child was a minor one; it was not enough," Legolas said, his tone turning grave and resolute.
"But Elena, she is blessed by the Moon God. Her bloodline is very pure. Which can make their wish come true."
