Luna returned to the room that had been prepared for her inside the headquarters building, while Ethan walked up to the third floor to reach Ashley's office.
When the door opened, Ethan could see clearly that Ashley still had a lot of work left, though not as much as when he had left earlier. Even so, it was still enough to exhaust her.
He glanced around the room and saw Ashley alone in her office, leaning back on her single-seat sofa.
Jill wasn't there. There was a good chance Jill had already left. On the low table by the sofa, Ethan noticed a half-finished bottle of wine and two small glass cups.
It looked like they had paused their work and chosen to relax for a moment. But because they drank too much, they couldn't finish their tasks for the day.
Ethan walked closer to Ashley. He lifted her and let her lie down on the long sofa. Then he grabbed a blanket and covered half her body so she wouldn't get cold.
With Ashley taken care of, Ethan walked to her desk. Since she hadn't finished her work, Ethan had no choice but to help complete as much of it as he could.
He sat down on the chair and looked through the folders stacked on the desk. The paperwork was simple, but the sheer amount made it exhausting and boring.
"This is easy enough," Ethan said.
Luckily for him, Ashley had already sorted the files between approved and not approved. The approved ones were in blue clips, the unapproved ones in red.
"Lyodra. Neryss."
[Soul Servant Mode Aggressive Activated:]
[Neryss Abyssborn || Lv. 10 || S-R Rank || Passive → Aggressive || 1000 MP]
[Lyodra Vulkanis || Lv. 10 || S-R Rank || Passive → Aggressive || 1000 MP]
Ethan called both of his servants and changed their modes. The two chibi forms floated in front of the desk, their bodies glowing in different colors.
A moment later, Lyodra and Neryss finished transforming. Now they stood in their adult forms, waiting for Ethan's orders.
"Neryss, take the blue clips."
"Lyodra, red clips."
Both of them were surprised by the stacks of paperwork in their hands. Ethan showed them two stamps, handing one to each.
"Stamp this part of the page. Only one stamp for each sheet."
"Not too hard. Don't use magic. Just normal stamping," Ethan said.
The two soul servants understood. They worked on the papers on the floor while Ethan handled the rest at Ashley's desk.
Ten minutes passed and their task was done. They returned to their chibi forms after their aggressive mode ran out.
Ethan walked toward the two completed stacks and could clearly see that Lyodra and Neryss had done their jobs well.
Now only Ethan's final bit of work remained. Before ten at night, he managed to finish everything for Ashley.
He left the finished documents on the desk. Ashley could turn them in tomorrow morning.
With the boring papers out of the way, Ethan walked over to Ashley. Half an hour had passed, yet she still hadn't woken from her drunken rest.
"She knows she can't drink much," Ethan muttered.
He bent down and picked Ashley up. Holding her in both arms, he carried her to her room so she could sleep properly.
***
The next day.
LionArk Headquarters.
He woke to sunlight breaking into his room. Ethan slowly opened his eyes, realizing he had forgotten to close the window facing east, allowing the morning rays to shine directly inside.
When he tried to sit up, he was surprised to see Ashley in his bedroom, still wearing her pajamas.
"Ashley?" Ethan said, startled.
She kept hugging him tightly, resting her head on his bare chest. Ashley smiled when she heard his voice, happy that he was finally awake.
"You're the one who finished my work last night, right?" Ashley asked.
"N-No. I went straight to sleep."
"Really? Then who helped me last night? And those two servants?"
"W-Wait. You were awake?" Ethan asked.
"I wasn't that drunk. I wanted to help, but you already had everything under control. I didn't want to interrupt," Ashley said.
Ethan smiled and let out a small laugh, not expecting Ashley to have been conscious the whole time. It meant she had seen everything he did.
Ashley opened her eyes and leaned her face closer to Ethan. She gave him a gentle kiss, her hands wrapping behind his neck as she lingered in the moment.
"We should get ready," Ethan said softly.
"Just a little longer. Please?"
They parted slowly. Ashley lifted the blanket and sat on top of him, leaning close as if wanting to stay in that quiet morning warmth.
One by one she loosened the buttons of her pajama top. Her pale and flawless skin, admired by many players in the game, came into view. Ethan was the only one allowed to be this close to her.
In the end, Ethan had gained what many others wanted: power, wealth, and woman.
They shared their quiet moment together in the room, not worrying about anyone hearing or interrupting. Ashley didn't hide her voice, and it carried faintly beyond the room.
Sherly arrived on the third floor with documents that needed Ethan's signature. But when she got there, she was startled to see Jill standing in front of Ethan's bedroom door, hands pressed awkwardly at her sides.
"M-Miss Jill?" Sherly asked.
Jill looked flustered, trying to act normal even though she couldn't hide the redness on her face. She was clearly embarrassed after being found there.
"What are you—"
Sherly froze, eyes widening when she heard faint sounds from Ethan's room. It wasn't the kind of sound normally heard in the hallway.
It was the voice of a woman who was very clearly close with someone inside.
She looked toward the room. It was indeed Ethan's. Seeing Ashley's door wide open, Sherly finally understood whose voice it was.
The rumors among LionArk members were true. Ashley and Ethan were dating.
"Is that for Ethan?" Jill asked, pointing at the documents Sherly carried.
Sherly nodded and explained that the papers needed Ethan's signature. But in this situation, delivering them was impossible.
"I-I'll wait by the stairs. People shouldn't be hearing this," Sherly said.
"Please, Sherly."
Sherly agreed. She hurried down to the stairs and stood alone, holding the documents. If anyone asked what she was doing, she explained that Ethan had ordered no one to go up to the third floor.
Jill remained by Ethan's door, still dealing with her own flustered emotions. She hadn't expected Ashley to sound like that, and it made her wonder how Ethan treated her.
"What's going on?" a few members asked when they saw Sherly waiting there.
"Nothing. No one is allowed to go up to the third floor, no exceptions."
