Chapter 199: The Evacuation Process

The negotiation results were agreed upon. Ethan wrapped it up and asked everyone to return and calm themselves. He did that purely to lower the tension between both sides.

Jacques and the other representatives of the red faction walked out of the city hall toward the east, while Ross and the representatives of the white faction left toward the west.

There was a chance the Avalon Guild Master had already received the letter Ethan sent.

That was because Ethan had asked for a signal indicating whether the man had read the letter or not.

The signal was simple: the representatives who came must all be women and all be mages. Ross arrived with five female mages, so nothing about it surprised Ethan.

Women and mages taking part in a negotiation was not normal. No one else would think of something like that — only Ethan.

Without saying anything, Ross and the others left the city hall. Ethan was pleased they didn't greet him; it helped build his neutral image in this conflict.

"Why didn't you propose stopping the war?" Sherly asked.

"Both sides are already tense. The pressure is rising. Luckily we arrived in time to ease it," Ethan replied.

"Porco City is still far from peaceful. As long as both factions oppose each other in ideology and principles, conflict will continue," Ethan said.

"Have you decided what you're going to do?" Sherly asked.

Ethan went silent. He walked out of the city hall chamber and stopped in the front courtyard of the building.

There were around forty-five LionArk members stationed in Porco City. They were clearly assigned to guard the four gates of the city.

"We'll observe the situation for the two days of the ceasefire."

"Who's in charge?" Ethan asked the forty-five LionArk members.

A man stepped forward and explained that Hans had assigned him to lead the LionArk unit in Porco. His name was Zidan.

"Organize the guard shifts for the four gates. Make sure you place your people at the high-risk spots around the city, especially the border zones," Ethan said.

"I understand, Sir Ethan."

"Sherly. Tell Hans we need more people, at least a hundred to two hundred more LionArk members," Ethan said.

"Should I recommend new recruits?" Sherly asked.

"If their abilities are good enough, I don't mind."

Sherly understood what Ethan meant. Zidan started forming small teams to handle three tasks: guarding the gates, guarding the evacuation process, and guarding the border areas.

Hans had already received Sherly's message. He would prepare the reinforcements by tomorrow morning. Sherly informed Zidan about it, and Zidan accepted it without objection.

For now, until tomorrow morning, Zidan would rely on his forty-five members to follow through on the negotiation results.

As for Ethan's accommodations, Zidan and his team had already prepared everything.

There was an inn near the city hall. Sherly and Ethan would stay there until the evacuation was carried out and completed.

Regarding safety, Ethan had nothing to worry about. If he stayed in that building, no force would be able to destroy it.

Day turned to night. After resting, Ethan and Sherly stood on top of the city's north gate.

They watched the evacuation process taking place, with the LionArk soldiers protecting the evacuees until they were out of the city.

Everything went smoothly. The citizens already knew Ethan had arrived. They had packed their belongings and fled to the north.

Sherly had informed Ashley about the mass exodus from Porco City. If the city became too crowded, Ashley was instructed to set up refugee tents south of the city.

"Miss Ashley has responded. She'll prepare everything," Sherly said, and Ethan nodded.

Ethan cleared his throat. His attention remained fixed on the massive migration of Porco's citizens leaving the city, the consequence of the two factions' war.

Once the evacuation was complete, Ethan could discuss a peaceful resolution for them. What mattered most was evacuation and their safety.

[Congratulations!]

[The system detected a good deed!]

[PK penalty duration reduced by 1 year]

Ethan laughed. He didn't expect his PK penalty could be reduced by doing good deeds. Even so, the penalty he had received was only one year in total.

But Ethan was sure the more good deeds he did, the more reductions he would receive.

Seeing the large number of citizens, Ethan guessed the evacuation would last until night.

Zidan and Sherly explained that they would keep watch over the evacuation and asked Ethan to go rest.

Ethan agreed. He would return to the inn and rest, but he told Zidan and Sherly to keep him informed if anything happened.

The streets around the city hall weren't crowded anymore. Only a few LionArk members were there picking up supplies and the like.

Ethan entered his room at the inn and removed his LionArk cloak. Inside, the quiet and stillness gave him a sense of peace and coolness.

KNOCK!

A knocking sound came from Ethan's door. Ethan, who had been sitting at the edge of his bed, immediately stood and stared sharply at the front.

Who is that?

"Neryss!"

[Soul Servant Mode Aggressive Activated:]

[1. Neryss Abyssborn || Lv. 10 || S-R Rank || Passive → Aggressive || 1000 MP]

Chibi Neryss flew forward and transformed into an adult woman. Ethan told Neryss to open the door and let the person outside enter.

The door slowly opened, and no one was there. Ethan grew curious and stepped closer. But he was shocked when a voice called him from behind.

"Sir Ethan."

Ethan turned around and saw three assassins dressed in black cloaks and clothing. They were the small team Hans had sent last night.

They had clearly completed their mission. They had retrieved the letter sent to the Guild Master.

"What is it?" Ethan asked.

"We want to report the situation between the two factions, Sir Ethan."

Ethan nodded, allowing them to explain what they had learned. He listened carefully.

They explained that the Eagle War Guild Master was sick. Without that man, Eagle War had no courage or strength left.

"Have you found the location of the Eagle War Guild base?" Ethan asked.

"Yes, Sir Ethan."

"Hold your attack. Follow the ceasefire."

"At the next negotiation, your job will be to execute the Eagle War Guild Master."

"We understand, Sir Ethan."
