"Faynn!" Faralynn said loudly hugging her. "Thank god you found us."
"It's ok my lady." Farynn said hugging her back and caressing her hair.
"Thank god you came. We are in bad shape." Matthew said getting close. "Where are the others?"
"They stayed behind. It seems it was the correct choice, since we weren't teleported to the same place." Faynn said looking at Matthew.
"And how do we get back?" Faralynn asked.
"I have a radio. They can track us with it." Faynn said taking out the radio from her Inventory and communicating that she found them.
Erin's voice came back from the radio saying something grateful, but the signal was too weak to listen to her properly.
"So… How do we find our way back?" Matthew asked Faynn. "And how did you find us?"
"I can sense other people, much like your Sense Others skill. But not far enough to know where the others are." Faynn said looking around. "The radio signal travels farther than my mana detection. We pick a direction and follow. If the signal gets stronger we keep going." She added.
"Makes sense." Matthew said.
"At least we're close enough for the radio waves to reach them. That means we might be able to come back." Faralynn said. "How long do we have?" She asked Matthew.
"A little over 4 hours." Matthew answered looking at his watch.
"Then… Which way now?" Faynn asked looking at Ffyr.
"Me again?" Ffyr got surprised. "I might just take you to another death trap." The fairy said in a remorseful tone.
"If the signal gets weaker, we just go the other way." Faynn explained.
"Alright." Ffyr agreed, but didn't feign excitement this time.
They were soon walking again. This time, with Faynn with them checking for traps, much quicker than before. Ffyr's chosen pathways weren't leading them closer, however, but not farther either. It seemed like they were just circling the position of the others waiting for them in base.
When Lightning Lions appeared, Matthew fought one of them while Faynn took care of the other 4. The number of enemies there was much greater than in the other parts of the Labyrinth. That made them wonder if they were even in the same floor as the others as that dungeon got harder the deeper you delved into them.
Killing that lion made Matthew level up. It was taking longer and longer to level up now. The rate in which the XP needed to level up increased was exponential. It was well known in the adventurer world that the only way to keep leveling up constantly, was to keep fighting enemies as strong as you are. But the number of monsters with a level 20 or 30 were very low, which meant that over time, you'd level up less and less.
Matthew looked at his screen:
"You leveled up!
Rolling Gacha for class
Congratulations!
You draw a tier 3 class!
Assassin"
Assassin was a great class from the Scout tree. Normally you'd need to be level 5 Thief and at least level 30 to be able to pick it. That was a lucky draw.
As other tier 3 classes, Assassins had a pick between two different skills: Sneak Attack and Reckless Agility.
Sneak Attack was a passive skill, much like the Sense skills, that didn't require mana to use. It gave the owner a way to feel through the mana the best point in a creature's body to achieve maximum damage. It also gave a feeling on the structural weaknesses of buildings and objects. With a glance, an Assassin could now where to strike to make an armor useless, for example.
Reckless Agility was an active skill. It allowed the user the replace Vitality stat points into Agility stat points, though not permanently. The trade rate was 2 Agility points to every Vitality point. The upside of this skill from Agility Up or Agility Boost, was that it costed no mana. The downside is that you'd sacrifice your own defense to increase your speed.
Matthew thought a lot on what to chose while they walked. Sneak Attack was sure a great skill to have. But, when dealing with humans and humanoid creatures, their weak points were easy to know. You didn't need a skill to know that the neck is a weak spot.
It could help, however, on facing amorphous creatures or heavily armored enemies like the Dullahan as the skill would help to help weak spots on their armor.
Despite that, Matthew decided to pick Reckless Agility. He tried to justify his choice for not facing such kinds of enemies all the time and needing more speed. But, in reality, he liked the idea of being really fast and that skill would allow him to achieve that objective.
He then put all his free points into Vitality to make that skill more useful and still getting more protection when he would not be using the skill. His stats now were:
Matthew Lordstone – Level 14
Doctor (T2) – Level 1
Warrior (T1) – Level 1

"So what did you get?' Faralynn asked Matthew after she sensed he finished choosing his skill.
"Assassin!" Matthew said with a smile. "Check this out." He added.
He used the Reckless Agility skill and put all his Vitality points into Agility. That made him even faster than when he was with the demonic mana infecting his body. Matthew then moved side to side showing off how fast he'd become.
"Incredible." Faralynn said genuinely impressed.
"It does leave me wide open though." He said turning off the skill.
"Didn't you prefer to pick Sneak Attack?" Faynn asked him.
"I thought about it. Reckless Agility seemed more useful for the kind of enemies I'm fighting recently." Matthew explained himself.
Faynn just nodded. Not judging nor condoning. She knew those choices were very personal and didn't meddle in his choices.
After about an hour walking what seemed to be in circles, since the radio signal didn't seem to get stronger or weaker, Ffyr finally brought them to another room with no exit.
"There's something around here." The fairy said looking around. "Don't know where, but it something feels different here."
It took a long time. The 4 of them searched every stone around looking for something. Not even Faynn's senses that were equal to the Sense skills of the people who used the system could pick up any sign of a secret passage. It was Faralynn who found a loose rock in the wall. So small that most people would never look for it hiding anything.
Behind the rock, there was a small button. The hole too small to put a finger in. Luckily, the tip of the radio's antenna was able to fit inside the hole and press the button for them.
Doing so, made the wall in front of them tremble and open slowly. It showed them a room different from any other. The stones there were black and blue runes glowed on them. On the center of the room, there was a large altar with a similar teleportation circle they used before.
"Should we try it?" Matthew asked examining the altar without touching it.
"We don't seem to be making any progress. Might as well bet on it." Faynn said also looking around. "And this room is very odd. This might lead us to some treasure." She added.
"Looks more like it will take us to a boss." Faralynn mumbled.
"Yeah." Faynn agreed looking around.
"So what do we do?" Matthew asked.
"We only have one radio. If we get separated it will be unlikely to find the one left behind." Faralynn thought out loud.
"Ffyr. What do you think?" Matthew asked.
"I prefer not to say." The fairy answered.
"We came all the way here based on your feelings. What do you feel about this room?" Matthew asked her.
"I feel safe in here." She answered.
"Then I say we should risk it." Matthew declared.
"I agree." Faralynn said.
"Me too." Faynn agreed.
"But I might be wrong." Ffyr said worried. "We almost died last time."
"Don't worry. Faynn is really powerful." Faralynn consoled the fairy picking her on her hands gently comforting her.
"Ok then." Ffyr said and turned to Faynn. "I'm trusting you."
They all gave hands and got up the teleportation circle. They smiled at each other gaining courage to travel forth. And then, Faynn poured some mana into the circle activating the teleportation. A flash of blue light came and took them away.
