Faralynn came back to the base point after going back to the checkpoint carrying Faynn's body on her arms. The staff members who were keeping watch on the instruments and sensory machines all looked at her with sad faces and concerned looks.
Faralynn stared daggers at Claudio who was there looking as creepy as he always looked. His face was inexpressive, his posture, unchanged. He looked at Faynn's body with clinical eyes. He smelled the faint smell of the poison still lingering on their clothes and hair. He studied the wound on the dad elf's chest.
"Where's Matthew?" He asked with his usual voice.
"You ran away." Faralynn ignored his question accusing him.
"You should've ran too." Claudio said unaffected by her tone.
"If we had help, Faynn would still be alive!" Faralynn shouted at him.
"Or I could be dead instead." Claudio was cold. "I will not apologize for thinking about my life first."
"You bloody coward." Faralynn hissed at him.
"So… What happened to Matthew? Is he dead?" Claudio ignored her cursing.
"I don't know." Faralynn held back her tears of anger and sadness. "If he doesn't return. I'll personally make the Tower suffer for your cowardice." She declared as she passed by Claudio and went outside the dungeon.
She saw Matthew mount the Bashmu when it was readying to pounce on her. She understood that he used the Witchcraft skill to make the huge snake change direction and dart away at full speed inside the Labyrinth with him riding it holding by its wings.
Faralynn thought about running after Matthew and the monster. But she was too weak to be of any help now. She also couldn't follow the speed of the Bashmu, and could only get lost. Matthew had Ffyr and could find his way inside the Labyrinth, so she thought the best course of action was to wait outside for him to come out, where it was safe.
Matthew held to the beast's wings with all his might while infusing a sense of deep dread in it. The Bashmu darted through the corridors at full speed hitting the walls and the ceiling as it desperately tried to get away from Matthew. It tried to hit him against the walls to make him let go. It used its claws to run, it slithered its body with speed and flapped its wings to fly as fast as it could.
Matthew still didn't let go. Hold fast as his body was slammed against the stones. Using his Anesthesia skill to dull the pain and the Healing Totem to heal himself. Adding to that his usage of Unholy Mana and the Witchcraft skill, his MP was almost empty.
But he just had to hold and keep holding. The unholy fire was now covering half of the Bashmu's face. Its wounds were bleeding profusely. It shouldn't take much longer now, he thought.
Faralynn sat down still carrying Faynn's body. She called her mother and told her what happened in the dungeon. She held her tears the best she could, but a lot of them still were able to flood her eyes and stream through her face.
Faralynn's mother said she would be coming to take her daughter herself. That she should stay put with Faynn's remains. Faralynn could tell how that news hurt her mother. Faynn was like a daughter to her after all.
When Faralynn turned off the call, she saw the notification.
"You leveled up!
You leveled up!
You leveled up!
You leveled up!
You leveled up!"
Five levels? This meant that the Bashmu was dead. Did Matthew survive?
Matthew could barely move. He was sitting on the floor laying against the wall. He had no more MP. He couldn't even cast Purification to get rid of the demonic mana in him nor the effects of the miasma he inflicted on himself.
He was no longer using Anesthesia, therefore he could feel all his body aching. He was sure some of his bones were broken, but he could not use Healing Totem anymore.
"Ffyr?" He called to her telepathically. "Are you alright?"
"I'm weak. But Alive." She answered.
"I think I'm dying." Matthew said partly joking and partly telling the truth.
"If you were, I'd know." Ffyr joked back. "And the snake?"
Matthew looked to his side. It finally died. The blue flames finally consumed its head deep enough to cause a fatal injury. Its body was now spread with the belly up while the unholy fire still consumed it slowly.
"Finally dead." He said. "We won." Matthew laughed with a creepy smile on his face.
Then he felt it. A surge of strength. A deep warmth feeling taking his insides. It was mana. The feeling when you receive XP. And it was a huge amount.
With Faynn dead, all the experience would be divided by Faralynn and him.
The Bashmu was a very powerful monster. It was only due to Faynn's sacrifice, luck and cleaver thinking that they managed to win. It was surely a monster of level 40 or above. To receive its experience at level 14, even if half of it went to Faralynn, would be a huge level boost.
But Matthew was not expecting that many.

Ten. Ten levels in a roll. Not only that. Two tier 4 classes.
Berserker was a dangerous class. It gave a lot of Strength and HP, but its skill, Berserk, was even more dangerous than the Demonic Mana. It traded the user's sense of self to increase all stats. The user could only return to normal after everything around him was dead or if he himself fell unconscious.
Miko was an extreme powerful class in the Priest tree. Its skill was an extreme powerful version of Summon Spirit. It was called Summon Lesser God. As the name said, it allowed the Miko to summon lesser deities.
Tautomancer was a spell-casting class that focused on imitation. The Tautomancer Copy skill allowed him to reproduce spells cast close to him. It was a class very sought by Enchanters that used the Copy skill to be able to create magical items without needing to know the spell themselves.
The second skill the Tautomancer had, was the Mimic skill, which allowed him to replicate the Stats of other creatures as his own. It was a very powerful skill, but not much used by adventurers since the MP consumption was very high.
Matthew smiled as he finally got the Mage class. He decided to pick the Lingering Mana skill. That way he could enhance his bulled with his Imbue Mana skill and even set them ablaze with unholy fire now.
With the Warrior class, he just decided to increase the level of his Imbue Mana skill he already had.
Lancer was a warrior class designed to improve rider's performance. Its main skill Heart of the Centaur created a bound between mount and rider that made both of them more powerful when together.
As Matthew had no beast to mount, he decided to pick the Stand Magic skill, the Lancer's other skill. It was similar to his Reckless Agility skill, but instead of reducing Vitality to increase Agility, it reduced Agility to increase Magic.
For Summoner, his third level on it, he picked Summon Pact. With that he would be able to summon Ffyr to him in case they got separated.
Swordsman was the same class Faralynn got for her level 11. Resist Electricity and Resist Weakness were good passive skills that increased his resistance against electric attacks and debuffs to his strength, respectively. However, Matthew chose the Sharpen skill, as his girlfriend did, to increase the effectiveness of his swords.
Scout was the main class Vanessa had. Matthew decided to pick the Sense Traps skill since he was now alone in the dungeon and needed to find his way back.
Lastly the Merchant class. A tier 1 class. A work related class.
Its first skill was Coinage. A skill that created a mark on an item that could not be falsified. As the name said, it was very useful to make money that couldn't be counterfeited, but it was also used as a way to ensure trademark and even copyright of works of art.
The second skill was Sense Market. Like all other Sense skills, it made the user be able to sense the mana in the atmosphere and its lingering sentiments giving a supernatural sense on the prices of things and the market overall.
The third skill was Identify, the skill Matthew chose. It allowed the user to know the properties of items and creatures by using mana. With it he could see things like level, stats and skills of other people and items.
The fourth skill was Secrecy. It made the use of Identify harder on the owner of the skill.
After picking his skills and distributing his stats, Matthew looked at his own stat screen I awe. He couldn't believe he was at level 24 now.

It's then that it hits him. The only reason he got so many levels is because Faynn gave her life for them. Most of this experience was supposed to be hers.
He drank a mana potion still feeling his body aching all over. Tears began to roll on his face. Why was he so happy about? He thought while using Purify to to drive away the demonic mana in him and get rid of those selfish thoughts.
Faralynn was probably a mess right now. He should go back to her. He thought getting up slowly and drinking a healing potion.
He stopped to look at the Bashmu burning in blue fire.
"Ffyr." He called to the fairy telepathically.
"Yes?" She answered with a tired voice.
"Your mom promised me a wish, didn't she?" He asked.
"She did."
"Can she bring Faynn back to life?" He asked. His voice was resolute.
"Depends. If the gods of Earth allow it and if not much time has passed since the death." Ffyr explained.
"How long is too much?" Matthew asked.
"A week? Less? I'm not sure."
"Ffyr." Matthew said turning around. "Let's conquer this dungeon."
