A black streak pierced through the void…
The sinister claws of the Hand were heading straight for Roy's head, aiming to decapitate him in one fell swoop.
Belzebub wasn't in the habit of playing with his prey — he was a kill-and-rest predator, giving no chance for a comeback.
Roy's pupils constricted from fear. Lying limp, he hurriedly activated the newly received skill: Absolute Defense!
[Absolute Defense (SSS): Creates a force shield. Every 10 units of Genesis Ether infused can tank 100 damage points. Also creates a rebound effect, rebounding tanked attacks by 2×.]
Roy instantly burned 50 Genesis Ether units without blinking. A milky gold force shield formed right before his neck.
The claw strike collided directly into the divine obstruction. The force shield rattled and trembled under the sheer might of the attack.
Cracks rippled through the ethereal structure — but it held, rebounding a force twice as heavy back through Belzebub's arm.
The humanoid fly staggered backwards uncontrollably, each step sinking into the hard, crusty, rocky ground.
Meanwhile, Roy wasted no time. Already aware his life was literally on a timer, he summoned the Legendary Horn into his grasp.
"Please be useful…" he prayed hopefully, then bit into the nozzle, cheeks puffed, and blew as hard as he could.
No sound rang out. This time, he wasn't activating the Soul Stun trait — nor did he blow air into the instrument. What he infused was 100 units of Genesis Ether to activate the trait: Spark of Divinity!
This trait — one he thought he'd need during his dungeon raid — had never been pushed into activation.
Spark of Divinity would allow him to summon a divine creature. Permanently or temporarily, he wasn't sure. But he hoped whatever came would be enough to vanquish this bastard.
Pure Genesis Ether flowed into the golden horn, pulsing through intricate, interwoven inscription lines.
The horn shone brilliantly, and Belzebub sensed the unaccounted anomaly.
The monster's eyes glinted in shock and confusion.
"Another legendary item? But how?!"
As a Hand of the Seat of Evil Gluttony, Belzebub was a universally exposed figure. There were very few things in creation that could stun him — but this Lord didn't cease to surprise him.
Legendary items were rare Ether artifacts. Though not overly rare to someone of his caliber, to a minor character like Roy, they were supposed to be unreachable.
But he couldn't understand why this abnormal creature kept pulling out legendary items like candy.
Belzebub didn't dare doubt the might and mysteriousness of such high-grade items. His figure leapt far back warily.
A blinding, searing brilliance of divinity bloomed. Belzebub's black heart thudded heavily, his crimson orbs glued to the phenomenon, pensively waiting to understand what was happening.
Roarrrrrrrrrrrrr!
A heaven-shaking roar reverberated through the territory. Even the robust structure of the distant Aegis rattled in tremor. Cracks ran through the terrain, the fields deforming — some areas rising, others sinking, some forming torrents of landslides.
Dark, stormy clouds brewed wrathfully, streaking flashes of lightning clapping and lighting the atmosphere.
Heaven and earth seemed to shudder before the majestic roar.
[One-time trait: Spark of Divinity has been used!
Divine beast has been summoned into this plane…]
Roy stared hopefully, his body still sprawled helplessly on the ground — battered and bruised. Trion hadn't finished healing him before being taken out of the equation.
Slowly, the divine haze cleared, revealing the divine beast summoned — the beast that would be his only hope of turning the tide of battle.
Chit? Chit?
An adorable squeak rang out as the divine creature hopped around.
Roy's eyebrows trembled as he caught sight of the creature — almost spitting out blood from anger.
This blob figure… this slimy texture… this… wasn't this a slime?!
His teeth gnashed together, his eyes going dark — almost losing all will to live.
Meanwhile, on the other end, his foe Belzebub reacted starkly different.
On seeing the figure of the summoned divine beast, his frame trembled with nervousness. He quickly leapt back further to put more distance between himself and the little horror.
While others might see a cute, harmless little translucent slime — he saw a hideous existential threat.
This little abomination was a divine beast that struck terror in the hearts of other divine beasts — the insatiable counter to the Seat of Evil Gluttony: The All-Devouring Slime!
This little wretch, though small, was a tyrant that fed on planets — entire star systems whole.
Though this was a mere hatchling, the innate fear of such a predator was etched into Belzebub's blood. Just like a grown rat would freeze in fear on encountering a kitten — it was the same for the Hand of Evil.
Chit! Chit!
The small blob of slime hopped onto Roy's frame, squeaking in acknowledgement. It recognized its master at a glance.
"Whatever… since the system called it a divine beast, it shouldn't be bad… right?" Roy finally decided to inspect the creature. At least he should see if it had any useful abilities that could help right now.
[Name: ---

Roy frowned. He had to admit — judging a book by its cover like he did was wrong…
But what was he meant to do with a level 1 creature?
How could such a low-ranked beast help him win this battle?
He sighed regretfully.
"I should have summoned it long ago. By now, it should be at a higher level…"
Chit?
The little blob tilted its formless head, sensing its master's feelings.
Chit! Chit!
Huh? Roy watched as the creature slowly started deforming into a liquid state.
From afar, Belzebub saw this phenomenon — a chill ran down his spine. He leapt further backward, eyes filled with fearful apprehension.
He gazed at Roy, who was calmly watching the creature morph into liquid, and whispered to himself:
"Those who don't know the height of the heavens have no fear towards it…"
The small creature morphed for a second — then suddenly, its figure erupted into an engulfing torrent of multicolored liquid!
The sudden torrent raged through the surroundings, engulfing Roy and the limp frames of the two summoned heroes.
[All-Devouring Slime has activated Assimilation…
All-Devouring Slime has let its master, the host, keep dominant control…
All legendary items are being assimilated…
Two legendary heroes — Trion and Velra — are being assimilated…
Assimilation complete!]
The raging river suddenly receded, rapidly shrinking into nothing — leaving a single figure behind.
Belzebub watched this from afar and gulped hard…
Those surviving those five minutes didn't seem so impossible for Roy anymore…
