Elder Qiu?
In all of Qingqiu Dao, there was only one Elder Qiu: the big boss, Qiu Han. It was just like how Lingjin City had only one Lord Hu. However, Qiu Han, both in terms of personal strength and his network of connections, was far beyond anything Zhao Yinghu could ever compare to. In Qingqiu Dao, even the great financial magnates, let alone powerful clans like the Zhou and Li Families, had to show him some respect.
One could only imagine how profoundly disrespectful Li Chenfeng's arrogant words had been.
Zhao Xiaoqing covered her mouth and staggered back three steps in fright. The others also turned deathly pale, struck by the realization that they were dealing with Elder Qiu.
Dazed by the punch, it took Li Chenfeng a long moment to come to his senses. "I-I'm sorry!" he stammered, trembling. "Elder Qiu, I was blind and failed to recognize your greatness. I apologize! Please, be magnanimous and spare me!"
Qiu Han didn't spare him another glance. Instead, he stared at Zhou Yufei, his eyes glittering as if he had just discovered an priceless treasure. He raised a hand and pointed. "Are those people your friends?"
"Yes, yes!" Li Chenfeng nodded hastily, confessing, "One of the girls is Zhou Jingyuan's granddaughter!"
"Oh?" Qiu Han paused for a second before waving his hand dismissively. "I'll be taking both of those girls with me. You don't have a problem with that, do you?"
"This..." Li Chenfeng froze, his face flushing crimson.
BANG!
The young man beside Qiu Han struck him again. Blood streamed from Li Chenfeng's head as darkness swamped his vision. He crumpled to the floor in a miserable heap.
"Elder Qiu asked you a question. You dare to hesitate?" the young man snarled, wiping the blood from his fist.
"Cough, cough..." Li Chenfeng spat out mouthfuls of blood, propping himself up with his hands and shaking his head frantically. "No, I wouldn't dare! As you wish, Elder Qiu!"
"Go on, bring them over," Qiu Han ordered, leaning back on the sofa and puffing on a cigar. The more he looked at Zhou Yufei, the more pleased he felt.
"Yes, yes, I'll go right now!" Li Chenfeng nodded repeatedly. He struggled to his feet, one hand clamped to his head, and limped toward Zhou Yufei's group.
Due to the distance, Zhou Yufei and Zhao Xiaoqing hadn't heard the exchange between Elder Qiu and Li Chenfeng. Seeing him approach, Zhao Xiaoqing was the first to rush forward.
"Young Master Li, are you okay?" she asked, her voice filled with guilt. After all, he had only been beaten like this because of her.
"I'm... I'm fine." Li Chenfeng waved a hand dismissively, lowering his head, unable to meet her gaze. "Elder Qiu... he wants you and Yufei to go over there."
Zhao Xiaoqing froze.
"So, Young Master Li, you're just here to be a messenger for that old degenerate?" Chen Yang chuckled. "Who was it just now boasting about their powerful family? If this is the result, your Li Family isn't all that impressive, is it?"
"You..." Li Chenfeng gritted his teeth. "That's Elder Qiu! Kid, do you have any idea what you're saying? In all of Qingqiu Dao, who would dare to defy him?"
"He's just an old degenerate, isn't he?" Chen Yang snorted, then smiled. "Since you're the messenger, then please be so kind as to tell that old degenerate to get the hell away from me!"
Li Chenfeng was speechless. Has this guy lost his mind?!
In truth, there was no need for him to relay the message. Chen Yang had spoken loudly enough for everyone in the bowling alley to hear him loud and clear. In an instant, every eye in the place was fixed on him.
An old degenerate?! But... that's Elder Qiu!
Li Chenfeng lurched forward, glaring at Chen Yang. "If you want to die, go die alone! Don't drag us down with you! Elder Qiu said he only wants Xiaoqing and Yufei. As long as we hand them over, the rest of us will be fine!"
"Trading two women for your own safety? And your good friends, at that. Young Master Li, is this your code of conduct?" Chen Yang asked with a placid smile.
Li Chenfeng fell silent. He just wanted to save his own skin, that was all.
"Haha!" Qiu Han roared with laughter. "Are all young people so audacious these days?"
Chen Yang said nothing. He simply picked up a bowling ball and hurled it directly at Qiu Han.
BANG!
The coffee table in front of Qiu Han exploded into splinters. Tea and fruit flew everywhere.
The entire alley fell into a terrifying silence.
Qiu Han wiped the tea from his face, his expression darkening at a visible rate as he rose menacingly to his feet.
But just then, a sudden rush of footsteps tore through the heavy atmosphere. A man in martial attire appeared, his posture ramrod straight, radiating an imposing aura.
Hmm? Qiu Han frowned. He recognized the man, of course. The question was, what was a high-ranking figure from the Martial Department doing in a place like this?
The newcomer was, naturally, Tang Jiren. He held a delicate wooden box and walked straight to Chen Yang. "Sir," he said with a beaming smile, "I acquired a Three-Foot Green Peak Sword in my early years and felt it would be a fine match for you, so I brought it over."
Qiu Han, who had been about to step forward and greet the official, felt his face go pale. A cold sweat beaded on his forehead as he hurried over instead. "General Tang, what brings you here?"
Tang Jiren turned his head, and his gaze fell upon the blood-soaked Li Chenfeng. His voice turned stern. "Qiu Han, are you causing trouble here?" His tone then grew icy as he gestured toward Chen Yang. "The Governor is present, and you dare to act so presumptuously!"
Qiu Han's pupils constricted. He stared at Chen Yang again, his face a mask of disbelief. "You... you're saying he is the Nine Gates Admiral?"
"Who else?" Tang Jiren retorted grimly. "What, did you think I was lying?"
"No, no!" Qiu Han was terrified. From Tang Jiren's initial address of "Sir," he had guessed the young man's background was significant, but he had never imagined it would be this monumental.
The Nine Gates Admiral, the Zhennan Prince.
Qiu Han knew he was in an impossibly deep mess. At that moment, he wanted nothing more than to strangle himself.
Seeing his reaction, Tang Jiren guessed what had happened. He turned to Chen Yang for confirmation. "Governor, what did this man do?"
"Him?" Chen Yang said flatly. "First, he harassed my friends. Then he arrogantly demanded I hand over my other friend and my girlfriend."
Tang Jiren sucked in a sharp breath. This damned fool had dared to openly try and steal the Zhennan Prince's girlfriend?
