The security guards at the entrance were immediately thrown into chaos.
Wu Chen, however, acted as if nothing was amiss. He pulled out the photo once more, glanced at the address on the back, and a smile curved his lips. "Fiancée, I'm here!"
Soon, he was standing in front of Zhao Dejiang's old villa.
Yang Hu was the first to notice him. While sizing him up, he prompted Chen Yang, "Boss, look outside."
Chen Yang put his phone down. His calm gaze followed Yang Hu's direction and landed on Wu Chen.
At that moment, Wu Chen had one hand in his pocket and was running the other through his buzz cut. He tugged at the corner of his mouth, finally revealing a warm smile.
He's handsome and rugged. At the same time, very pretentious.
Chen Yang was amused but also intrigued. Setting aside the man's pretense, he could tell he had a robust aura, brimming with vigor and a sharp, deadly edge. He was clearly a man who had been tempered on the battlefield.
A true man of iron.
"My guess is that's the bastard Zhao Xiaoya was talking about, the one who wasn't worthy of her," Yang Hu speculated with a laugh. "Since they've never met, she must have mistaken you for him."
Chen Yang sighed helplessly. What terrible luck, getting chewed out by a girl for no reason. Those words were as nasty as they could possibly be.
Is this the first time in my life that's happened?
Just as Chen Yang was contemplating his own innocence, THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. The chaotic, heavy sound of footsteps approached from a distance.
It was a dozen or so security guards wielding plastic batons. With stern expressions, they immediately surrounded Wu Chen.
Chen Yang raised an eyebrow. How did this guy manage to provoke the security guards? From the looks of it, this is no small matter.
The leader was a middle-aged guard. Although angry, his tone was still polite. "Sir, you must register your information. We can't allow anyone of unknown identity to enter the community. Furthermore, you assaulted someone, which was wrong of you."
"Oh, so you're planning to use your numbers to bully me?" Wu Chen sneered. "A bunch of watchdogs. Do you think you're qualified to know my identity?
"I'll say this one last time: scram. Otherwise, what happened to that other guy will be a warning to you all."
The security captain forced a smile. "Sir, we're just doing our jobs. Please cooperate."
"Cooperate my ass!"
With a roar, Wu Chen sprang forward like a pouncing cheetah. A single punch sent the security captain flying several meters. He didn't stop there, instead charging toward the other guards. Using both fists and feet, he made short work of them. In the span of about three breaths, not a single guard was left standing; all of them were on the ground, groaning in agony.
Zhao Xiaoya and Chen Yuman, who had just walked into the yard, heard the commotion outside and rushed back out. They initially thought Chen Yang was causing trouble, but when they saw the spirited and distinguished Wu Chen, they instinctively exchanged a glance.
Could it be him?
Chen Yuman looked starry-eyed. "Xiaoya, that guy is pretty handsome!"
Zhao Xiaoya was also surprised—at the very least, he was different from what she had imagined. But she quickly pouted, "What's the use of being handsome? You can't eat good looks. Besides, he looks like a total thug. He's clearly not a good person."
Chen Yuman giggled foolishly. "But you can't deny he's handsome."
Zhao Xiaoya was speechless.
Rendered speechless by Chen Yuman's infatuation, Zhao Xiaoya finally realized she had truly mistaken the wrong person. She couldn't help but look toward the commercial van, a wave of guilt and self-blame washing over her.
"What's this guy's problem?" Yang Hu couldn't watch any longer. The security guards were just doing their jobs, but this guy had to go and attack them. He was being completely unreasonable and tyrannical.
Chen Yang lowered the car window and glanced at Wu Chen. "The security guards weren't in the wrong. Are you just trying to show off how tough you are by bullying the weak here?"
"I'll go teach him how to behave," Yang Hu said with a grin, baring his teeth.
Chen Yang nodded. "Break a few of his bones."
"You got it!" Yang Hu's grin widened. This was his favorite kind of task.
He got out of the car.
Yang Hu rolled his neck, producing a series of pops like firecrackers. A wicked smile spread across his face as he stared straight at Wu Chen, who was now looking his way.
"Sticking your nose where it doesn't belong? And now you're bothering me?" Wu Chen slowly lit a cigarette. He glanced at the commercial van before turning his gaze to Yang Hu. "Kid, you're just a henchman. Better call out the person in the car."
"I'm more than enough to deal with a punk like you," Yang Hu said, slowly stepping forward.
Wu Chen laughed and looked at the commercial van again, his interest piqued. If a mere underling is this impressive, then who could the person in the vehicle be?
THUD! Yang Hu stopped and crooked a finger at Wu Chen. "What kind of skill does it take to bully a bunch of security guards? Come on, let me teach you some manners."
"Tch!" Wu Chen sneered. He cracked his knuckles, a savage grin spreading across his lips. "Since you're a henchman, you should know your place and stay on the sidelines! Given my status, even your boss would have to bow respectfully if he met me."
He was a Sixth Grade Martial General, an outstanding Martial King. How could ordinary people even catch his eye? Just some lackey. Daring to spout such nonsense in front of me and teach me how to behave? How laughable!
Just as Wu Chen was about to walk toward the commercial van, SCREECH!
Seven or eight commercial vans screeched to a halt nearby. Young men began jumping out one after another. A quick count revealed fifty to sixty of them, every single one with a fierce, hostile expression.
Both Yang Hu and Wu Chen frowned. Who are these guys, making such a grand entrance?
It couldn't be that Zhao Xiaoya girl, could it? Yang Hu muttered to himself. She had threatened to have her boyfriend teach Chen Yang a lesson. That has to be it. With that thought, Yang Hu's hand moved toward the pistol at his waist. There were too many of them, and he didn't want to waste time on a rabble like this.
However!
"It must be that guy in the combat uniform!" After a quick scan of the area, the leader fixed his menacing gaze directly on Wu Chen. The logic was simple: a group of security guards lay at his feet, so he had clearly just been in a fight. Who else could it be?
"Brothers, see that guy in the combat uniform? Get him! All of you!"
Wu Chen was utterly baffled.
"That's the one!" the leader immediately confirmed. "Don't hold back! Someone will take the fall for this!"
With those words, it was as if they had been given an imperial edict. The dozens of men charged forward in an instant.
"Bro, this has nothing to do with you," someone warned Yang Hu. "You should get out of the way before you get hurt."
Yang Hu was speechless. I was just about to pull my gun, and you're telling me to step aside? Then, he let go of his pistol, a grin of pure amusement spreading across his face. These guys can't even find the right person?
Wu Chen's face, however, turned black as the bottom of a pot. Who the hell did I piss off? I was just standing here, minding my own business. Talk about disaster falling from a clear blue sky.
Standing by the gate, Zhao Xiaoya's eyes went wide with astonishment. What a bunch of idiots. If they weren't sure who to attack, why didn't they just ask me? She then covered her eyes. She kept consoling herself, Well, just consider this revenge for those poor, hardworking security guards.
