One block away, in stark contrast to the tranquil surroundings of the Di Family estate, this area was particularly bustling.
The Yin Family's residence was located right in the center of the city district. Its mottled walls and ancient courtyard exuded an air of profound history. It was said that the residence had a history of over a hundred years. Two stone lions stood proudly at the entrance, exuding an air of supreme authority.
A number of tourists had gathered at the Yin Family's main gate, pointing and chattering amongst themselves.
"I heard that this family has produced several Martial Champions, and they even have a gold-plated signboard bestowed by the emperor himself!"
"That's not all. Even this very residence was a gift from the emperor back in the day."
"If only I could see that gold-plated signboard with my own eyes," an old man remarked, his gaze fixed on the Yin Family residence. His eyes gleamed with longing as he shook his head and sighed.
"Sir, it's just an old signboard. What's so special about it?" Yang Hu asked curiously as he walked over, eating an ice cream cone.
"Young man, you don't understand," the elder explained. "Since it was bestowed by the emperor, it must bear His Majesty's own calligraphy. What an incredible honor it would be to witness the emperor's handwriting!"
"Tch!" Yang Hu scoffed. "Honor? What's so great about that?"
"You..." The elder, irritated by Yang Hu's arrogance, turned to Chen Yang. "Is he your man?"
"He's my little brother," Chen Yang replied with a smile, his hands clasped behind his back. "Sir, if you really want to see that gold-plated signboard, how about I go get it for you?"
The elder was speechless for a moment. Then, his interest piqued, he asked, "Young man, are you a member of the Yin Family?"
"No."
The elder's face fell with disappointment. He shook his head. "If you're not one of them, how could you possibly show it to me?"
"Because I promised someone I'd come and take down the Yin Family's gold-plated signboard," Chen Yang said with a casual smile. "Once it's down, I can certainly let you have a look, sir."
The elder stared at Chen Yang as if he were a complete idiot. "Young man, the Yin Family is an ancient martial arts clan. Don't talk such nonsense here. You should go home." He then leaned in and added in a low voice, "You can't say things like that. If the members of the Yin Family hear you, it'll bring you endless trouble."
Chen Yang just smiled and instructed Yang Hu, "Finish up and get to it."
"You got it!" Yang Hu grinned, opened his mouth wide, and shoved the rest of the ice cream in. The intense cold made him shudder.
BOOM!
With a single kick from Yang Hu, the Yin Family's main gate exploded into splinters. He then strode inside as if he owned the place.
In an instant, half the street fell silent. Everyone froze, utterly dumbfounded.
The old man was frozen to the spot, staring at the shattered gate. He rubbed his eyes vigorously, unable to believe what he was seeing.
This is the Yin Family, and they just kicked the door down? That's... that's beyond reckless!
Looking bored, Chen Yang took out a cigarette and offered one to the old man.
The old man waved his hands frantically. "I... I don't smoke."
Chen Yang lit one for himself and smiled faintly. "Sir, I take it you're a calligraphy aficionado?"
The old man nodded numbly.
"Then remember to take a picture later. You can study it closely when you get home. Who knows, you might even be able to reproduce it."
The elder was once again speechless. Where does this kid get such confidence? Does he really think he can just take the Yin Family's gold-plated signboard?
The thought alone made the old man instinctively back away from Chen Yang. If the Yin Family decided to retaliate, he didn't want to get caught in the crossfire. It just wasn't worth the risk.
However, less than two minutes later, Yang Hu returned. He sauntered out with one hand in his pocket, the other hoisting a large signboard.
In an instant, everyone on the street was stunned silent.
The gold-plated signboard, the Yin Family's most prized treasure... he actually took it down?
BANG!
Yang Hu tossed it casually, and the signboard clattered onto the ground a meter away from the old man.
"Hey, old man, come and get a good look," Yang Hu said, clapping his hands and grinning widely. "You're welcome."
GULP.
The old man swallowed hard, completely at a loss for what to do. It was only after a reminder from Chen Yang that the terrified old man shakily took out his phone and snapped a picture of the signboard. This simple act left him drenched in a cold sweat, his whole body trembling.
Suddenly, the sound of dozens of hurried footsteps erupted from the Yin Family residence. Soon, a group of fifty or sixty people rushed out, led by two men who appeared to be in their thirties.
"Who is it?!"
"Who dares to cause trouble at the Yin Family residence? I'd like to see how many heads you have on your shoulders!"
The two leaders bellowed one after the other. They were the two Yin Family brothers Qin Qiu had mentioned: the Boss, Yin Zhiqiang, and his younger brother, Yin Zhishan. As they roared their questions, their dark gazes followed the shattered signboard on the ground, finally landing on Chen Yang and Yang Hu.
The damage was so severe that it was obviously beyond repair.
Barging into our home, tearing down our prized signboard, and then tossing it on the street? How is that any different from taking a shit on our heads in public?
Yin Zhishan stalked forward, his voice chillingly furious. "You piece of scum! I don't care who you are. Kneel before the Yin Family's gate and kowtow in apology right now!"
"After you apologize, we'll discuss how you're going to die," Yin Zhiqiang added with a savage grin, stepping up beside him.
As the brothers advanced, the surrounding onlookers scrambled backward, terrified of being caught in the impending clash. This was especially true for the old man who had just taken the photo. He bolted, his movements so nimble they belied his advanced age. He didn't stop until he was several meters away, where he hid in the crowd to peek at the unfolding scene. He was thoroughly spooked.
As the crowd retreated, Chen Yang and Yang Hu were left standing alone, making for a conspicuous and stark sight. Yet, faced with the aggressive Yin brothers, neither Chen Yang's nor Yang Hu's expression flickered.
"Are you deaf?! Kneel down now!" Yin Zhishan roared, his voice rising as his face twisted into a cruel, bloodthirsty mask.
Chen Yang calmly flicked the ash from his cigarette. "So you're the ones who were talking big at the Qin Family's home, saying you needed to go home and discuss who should propose to Qin Qiu?"
"Who are you? What's it to you?" Yin Zhiqiang sneered. "Or what, you've got a thing for Qin Qiu too, so you came looking for trouble with us?"
Chen Yang didn't say another word. He had his confirmation.
With that, Chen Yang hooked the edge of the signboard with his toe, flicking it into the air. Then, he lashed out with a kick.
BANG!
The gold-inlaid signboard instantly exploded. The shattered fragments, carried on a fierce gust of energy, shot straight toward the two Yin brothers.
Yin Zhishan roared and charged at full speed toward Chen Yang. Yin Zhiqiang did the same.
But before they could take more than a single step, the blast of energy slammed into them. As if struck by a massive blow, they were both sent flying backward. Not only that, but the dozens of Yin Family juniors behind them toppled like dominoes, falling in droves.
