Chapter 73: The President's Summons

Jax stepped outside the studio lot, frustration still simmering in his chest.

'First attempt wasted. Fucking wasted.'

The cool evening air did nothing to calm him. He shoved his hands into his pockets, eyes scanning the street for a taxi.

Then he noticed them.

Two guards. Professional. Sharp suits, earpieces, hands clasped in front. Standing beside a sleek black car with tinted windows.

They weren't looking at their phones. They were waiting.

For someone.

Jax stared as he walked past them. One of the guards turned his head.

"Wait, sir."

Jax stopped. 'Sir?'

The guard stepped forward. "Sir Jax, we're here to fetch you."

Jax blinked. "Me?"

"Yes. Madam President sent us to fetch you, sir."

'President? What the fuck?'

"What do you mean by president?" Jax asked slowly. "President of Neo Veridia or..."

The guard's expression didn't change. "Sir, I mean the President of the World. President of Aeroria. And there is no president of Neo Veridia, sir. I'm not correcting you. Just so you know this knowledge."

Jax's mind went blank for a second.

'President of the world.'

'Wants to meet me.'

Then he grinned. 'New adventure. Let's go.'

"Okay," Jax said. "Let's go."

Inside the car, Jax sat in the back. The two guards took the front seats.

He pulled out his Starlight Pro, scrolling through the web.

'President of Aeroria.'

The search results flooded his screen.

Articles. Photos. Headlines.

And then he saw her.

Light red hair cascading over her shoulders. Brown eyes warm and gentle. A smile that radiated authority mixed with motherly care.

She looked... kind. Beautiful. Powerful.

'But why is she calling me?'

Then his eyes landed on her name again.

Katherine Rayne.

'Rayne.'

His jaw dropped.

'The same person who texted me.'

He remembered the message from after the tournament. The one who'd delayed Emma's enrollment. The one who'd called him family.

'She's the fucking President?!'

Jax scrolled frantically, searching for any clue about their relationship.

Thirty minutes passed. Nothing.

Just her work. Her popularity. Her good deeds. Praises from all five nations. Articles about how she was chosen unanimously by all five nation heads.

Her background section was vague. No mention of Jax. No mention of family ties.

The latest news caught his eye: President Katherine Rayne Pregnant, Husband Murdered in Tragic Incident.

'Pregnant. Husband murdered.'

Jax leaned forward, eyes locking onto the older guard in the passenger seat. He looked around fifty. Graying hair. Weathered face.

'He might know something.'

"So," Jax said casually. "What do you think of me?" Jax said as if to fetch information without letting him know.

The guard glanced back, surprised. "Jax... I mean, sir. I've known you since you were five years old."

'Bingo.'

"And from what I think," the guard continued, voice soft, "you were always a kind, love seeking child. Innocent. No inferiority complex."

His tone turned sad on the last part.

Jax caught it immediately. 'This man cared about the original Jax. And he's noticed the change.'

Time to play innocent.

Jax made his face soft, vulnerable. "So, uncle, tell me more. How do you feel my relation with Aunt Katherine is?"

The guard's face lit up instantly. He paused, then said, "If I had to say it in one word, it would be her world."

"World, huh?"

"World would be too short a word," the guard added. "For her, you are the only thing that matters. The only thing."

Jax leaned back, processing. "Why? Why is she so caring for me from the start? There has to be a reason, right?"

The guard was quiet for a moment. Then he spoke, voice heavy.

"You want to know why she liked you? Why she took you in? Why she cares about you?"

He paused, eyes distant.

"I still remember when Miss Paige left you outside the house in the rain. You were only five. By God's grace, we happened to run into you. Madam Katherine saw you, a mere child, wet, crying. She grabbed you. Carried you. Then she fought for you."

Jax's chest tightened. 'Paige left the original Jax in the rain?'

"She got pissed when she learned Paige's actions were because of your father," the guard continued. "Your father ruined Madam Katherine's reputation. Before she could punish him, he was gone. Which left you."

'My father. The original Jax's father.'

"Then there was chaos between Madam President and your mother. Madam fought for you. She realized there was no place for you there. She brought up the idea of taking you in, but Paige refused. Conversations escalated. Ultimately, it led Madam to lose all her shares of assets from the Rayne family."

Jax sat up. "What do you mean?"

"Kiera's father and Madam Katherine had their names on all the Rayne family assets given to them by their mother. Mrs. Paige saw the opportunity. She took it all, making you the deal."

'That bitch.'

"From there, Mrs. Paige multiplied her empire," the guard said bitterly. "But Madam Katherine never regretted her decision. In fact, she was too happy to have you. She'd trade millions of that empires for you. She's told me that hundreds of times."

He smiled sadly. "From there, you were raised with us. Away from riches. Away from everything. Just Madam Katherine, you, me, a maid, and her husband."

His voice cracked on the word husband.

"We lived together until Madam took charge as President a year ago. That's when you were sent back to your mother temporarily. But Paige never returned you after Madam came back from her meetings abroad."

Jax frowned. "Uncle, I heard her husband was murdered. Didn't the President find out who did it?"

The guard smiled faintly. He pulled out a piece of paper, scribbled something, and handed it to Jax.

[How can Madam find herself?]

Jax stared at the words. "What do you mean?"

The guard glanced at the other guard, then put a finger to his lips. Ssh.

The car stopped.

They'd arrived.

The mansion loomed before them. Pristine. Massive. A golden nameplate read: President's House.

The second guard stepped out. The older guard put his hand on Jax's shoulder.

"Now we're alone," he whispered. "So I should tell you. You might be very curious."

Jax leaned in.

"Madam Katherine killed her husband a few months ago. She found out he was cheating on her. She was already angry. First, Paige wouldn't let you go. Then him. Madam was busy with her work while your uncle did those things. So wasn't it fair?"

Jax's throat went dry.

'She killed him.'

'For cheating.'

'And I've taken over Jax's body. Killed him, technically.'

'Paige couldn't find out because she didn't raise me. I was just her sex toy.'

'But Katherine? She's a real mother. She'll definitely find out.'

His mind spiraled.

Before he could process further, the car door opened.

A figure rushed toward him.

Arms wrapped around him. His face was pressed into two massive, soft cushions.

Something wet. Sticky. Warm.

'Milk?'

The hug released. Jax stumbled back, blinking.

Katherine Rayne stood before him.

Light red hair framing her face. Brown eyes glistening with tears. A radiant smile.

Her belly was swollen, heavily pregnant. Her breasts, enormous and full, had visible wet spots on her blouse.

'She's lactating.'

Katherine cupped his face with both hands, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Jax," she whispered. "My boy. You're finally here."
