As soon as the AV docked, Grey stepped out.
He looked around curiously. The first thing he noticed was the law enforcers of the city, stationed in every corner of the fortress, fully alert and ready to take action if anything went wrong.
Aside from them, several mechas were also stationed here.
Mechas were combat-ready, destructive forces of technology. Depending on the grade, the strongest third-tier mecha could easily unleash firepower equivalent to an early-stage Third Ranker. Their versatility was immense, capable of adapting to countless situations.
Grey had always wanted to build a mecha for himself. It could prove useful in dangerous times, and with his mind interface, he could even control it remotely.
Of course, that was something only he could do. Normally, mechas were piloted manually, the user had to sit inside and synchronize their mind with the machine, similar to how one entered virtual reality.
Speaking of virtual reality, Grey had only entered it once to design his mansion. He had never really bothered exploring it since then. Perhaps after all of this was over, he should check it out again, and maybe even create a towering, one-of-a-kind mecha.
Then, Grey turned toward his AV and waved his hand. Instantly, the AV turned into a flash of light and disappeared into his spatial ring.
That's right, it entered his spatial ring. During the past few days, while handling important matters, he had also paid a visit to the Golden Chamber of Ashspire City.
It had been a solid two months since he bought his spatial ring, known as the Prototype Ring. It possessed twenty cubic meters of internal space, but after two months, it was nearly filled with formations and all sorts of other items. He figured it was time for an upgrade, that way, he could even store his AV inside.
He swiftly modified the ring's space from twenty to two hundred cubic meters. It was simply a matter of swapping the spatial formation inside for a more powerful one, so it didn't take long, half an hour at most. However, it cost him a whopping 10,000 Union Credits. Still, it was worth it. Now he wouldn't have to worry about space again, unless he decided to start storing megastructures and skyscrapers.
Which he obviously wouldn't…
Speaking of the Golden Chamber, the one here in Ashspire was doing extremely poorly compared to the branch in Nova City. There were almost no customers inside, and most of the shelves were empty.
In this city, neither the Golden Chamber nor the Evolver's Association held much influence. Everything was effectively controlled by the Corporation, and most of the resources for Evolvers came directly from them rather than from the Chamber.
Grey then glanced at the numerous AVs and cars parked around him.
There were hundreds of them, and plenty of people as well. With a single glance, he could tell that most of them were from the City Lord's Mansion, top families of Ashspire, and major corporations. Altogether, there were about a hundred or more participants.
"But the majority are from the City Lord's Mansion," Grey snorted.
Wherever he looked, he saw the Light Saber insignia, the mark of the Ardent Family.
It was obvious that the City Lord was favoring his own kin. While other families barely received two or three entry permits, his own family probably received over fifty. It was blatant favoritism, using his authority to give his family special treatment.
Grey finally turned his eyes toward the Secret Realm.
The Secret Realm floated slightly above the ground, suspended in the air. Steps had been built beneath it for people to climb up.
It resembled a cracked piece of glass, as if reality itself had glitched. It looked like someone had wiped away a portion of the world's canvas, leaving behind jagged fractures that shimmered faintly.
The cracks pulsed with a void-like hue, distorting the air around them. It was beautiful, yet unsettling, like a doorway that shouldn't exist.
The moment Grey laid eyes on it, his ability stirred to life.
[Your Comprehension defies the heavens! By gazing at the Secret Realm, you've gained insight into the 'Law of Space'.]
"The Law of Space!" Grey's eyes widened.
He realized that he had actually gained comprehension of the Law of Space, he had more knowledge about it in his head now.
What was the Law of Space? It was the fundamental structure that bound reality together, the invisible framework that defined distance, direction, and existence itself. Without it, there would be no up or down, no here or there, only chaos, where even reality couldn't find a place to stand.
The Law of Space was something only Fourth Rankers could comprehend. Everyone knew that much. As for how or why they comprehended it, no one truly understood.
What was certain, however, was that Fourth Rankers could tear apart space and travel great distances in moments. They were beings capable of perceiving the very fabric of space and bending it to their will.
Those below the Fourth Rank couldn't even sense its existence. It was reportedly proven that a Third Ranker had absolutely no chance of comprehending it.
But Grey…
He had actually managed to gain insight into the Law of Space.
"Is it because of the spatial distortion?" Grey mused.
There was no other explanation. He definitely wasn't capable of perceiving it normally like Fourth Rank experts. If he could, then all he would need to do was stare at the sky for a while, and he would have already grasped it long ago.
This revelation opened several new possibilities for Grey.
Comprehending the Law of Space, it wasn't easy, but it wasn't as impossible as facing a Heavenly Tribulation either. He believed that with enough exposure to spatial distortions, he would eventually gain true mastery over the Law of Space.
"This is great!" Grey exclaimed, excitement flashing in his eyes as he began walking.
There was still nearly an hour left before the Secret Realm opened. Since that was the case, he decided to spend the remaining time staring at the spatial distortion without blinking, and gain even more insight into the Law of Space.
Nothing could stop him from doing so.
