Grey's hands moved. With Nexus Overclock surging, black lines formed once more as he deflected the first sword with ease. The moment he deflected the first one, he used his other hand to deflect the second.
Clank! Clank! Clank!
Grey deflected each sword and crossed the distance between him and Alissa in less than a second. Ordinary mortals would not even be able to see him move.
"I broke your sword, little dragon. What's your next move?"
Grey laughed as sword light emerged. Bubbling, fiery sword energy shot toward Alissa with immense speed.
Alissa only glanced at him indifferently. She was never the type to back away from a fight.
Although she had lost horribly before, she refused to believe that she could not beat him at her current level.
Her competitiveness rose sharply as she moved.
Her figure blurred, and several afterimages appeared around Grey. This was a simple illusionary art meant to confuse the enemy and catch them off guard.
"An illusion art?" Grey smiled as shapeless energy converged into his hand, forming a dark sword.
Without hesitation, he shot it toward the afterimage to his right.
The illusion immediately dispersed, and Alissa wore a slightly surprised expression on her ice-cold face.
"My eyes are special, you see." Seeing her surprise, Grey explained with a smile. "They can see the life aura of a person, and only the real you has one."
As he spoke, he waved his hand, and the dark sword returned to his grasp.
The next moment, he swung.
"Maybe next time, try integrating a wood technique into that illusionary art to make it more believable."
Sword energy surged out like a tsunami. Within seconds, the storm of sword light rose higher than a mountain not far from them.
Seeing this, Alissa was not afraid.
Her pupils abruptly distorted into slits as chilling draconic power burst forth. Two long dragon wings unfurled from her back, and she flung them forward with force.
From the wings, True Source Dragon energy and law power emerged, completely fused together.
Boom!
The two forces clashed instantly. For a split second, the entire secret realm was bathed in white and silver-purple light.
The next moment, the nearby mountain shattered.
Alissa only glanced at it before shooting toward Grey with a powerful flap of her wings.
Boom!
Without giving Grey time to react, she used her superior speed and landed a fierce strike on his chest.
"Ouch." Grey's playful voice rang out. "That hurts, you know."
Alissa's expression changed as she immediately retreated, putting distance between them.
Only then did she realize that Grey was completely unharmed.
"You monster." She huffed.
To be completely honest, she had poured all her power into her legs to amplify that strike.
As a True Dragon, her strongest aspects were her body and energy, and she could continuously strengthen both.
But Grey...
Boom!
A terrifying mental fluctuation erupted from Grey. For a split second, he looked like a laughing devil as the ground cracked and rocks began defying gravity.
Telekinesis!
She knew Grey had not used any energy to block her attack just now.
His body alone had been strong enough to take it!
Not only that, he was also using energy offensively at the same time.
"Just what are you?" A frown formed on her cold face.
"What am I?" Grey's laughter echoed throughout the secret realm. "I'm just an ordinary human. For now, at least."
As soon as he finished speaking, crushing pressure descended upon Alissa.
She gritted her teeth. If she did not transform immediately, she would be crushed.
However, just before she could transform, everything reverted, and the pressure vanished.
"Alright, that's enough." Grey clutched his head painfully as he swiftly took out a healing potion and drank it in one gulp.
Overclocking with Nexus Overclock was truly dangerous.
Now that he had become a second ranker, his resilience was higher, allowing him to push it further. Still, exceeding even that limit caused a splitting headache.
"Let's fight after I officially reach the first level." Grey said with a half-smile as he dispersed the Shapeless ability.
Seeing this, Alissa stared at him silently for a moment.
"You are not to say anything or mention anything about what happened a few days ago."
Her intent was clear. If he refused, she would attack him again.
Grey merely shrugged.
"I had my fun."
Only then did Alissa retract her power. The source law returned to her body, and her rampaging True Source energy calmed.
"That incident..." she spoke indifferently. "It was because of my draconic instinct. It wasn't me. I wasn't rational."
Her cold voice cracked slightly as she spoke.
Thinking about it made her cringe in embarrassment. She had acted like a newlywed in heat, and she genuinely wanted to curse all the dragon gods for that so-called dragon instinct.
Still, that dormant instinct had its uses. If she fell unconscious, it would take over and fight with everything it had.
The might of a True Source Dragon was far more terrifying in a life-and-death battle.
Then Alissa noticed Grey standing there with a thoughtful expression. Then, she saw him hesitate slightly.
The instant she noticed that hesitation, she sensed something was wrong.
Instinctively, she asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's about our father." Grey sighed. "Richard is gone."
"What...?" Alissa's cold expression cracked.
"What do you mean he's gone?" she asked urgently.
"As in, he broke through the skies of Blue Star and left this planet." Grey shook his head.
He himself did not feel much from Richard's departure. He had treasured the man during their brief time together, but he was not the old Grey and lacked deep attachment.
But it was different for Alissa.
"There are some heavy spoilers ahead, so brace yourself."
After saying that, he took out the crystal.
"Come, hold my hands." Grey wanted to make both of them comfortable before he showed her the recording.
Alissa didn't hesitate, she swiftly took his hands, fully believing it was for something important and immediately their vision shifted as they were transported into the small open pagoda that Lia and Grey conversed in before.
He put the crystal onto the table and spoke. "This was left behind by him."
