Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 246: A beast with Halo?

Xia Qingyue's expression changed drastically as she sensed the cosmic energy stirring more than ever.

"Is it not over yet?" Xia Qingyue was in disbelief. "Does he need more?"

It had been quite a while since cosmic energy kept pouring into his body, yet it still showed no signs of stopping.

On the side, Evan could not sit still either, because by this time, no cosmic energy was flowing toward him.

"What is happening?" The instant he opened his eyes, he saw a man completely covered in light and energy sitting where he once sat, with his master standing not far from that person.

Hearing him, Xia Qingyue gestured toward him casually with her slender fingers.

Evan immediately moved toward her, a questioning gaze still lingering on his face.

Seeing this, Xia Qingyue chuckled and spoke. "It's him. Grey."

"Oh." Evan nodded with a blank look.

It made sense. Irregularities in his life only happened when this Grey Lockhart was nearby.

Then, in the next moment, both the master's and disciple's faces fell.

"This... what the hell?" Xia Qingyue could not help but murmur.

The cosmic energy that once flowed from underground began turning foggy, and immediately after, a storm of cosmic energy formed around Grey as lightning-like effects flashed across it.

The cosmic energy was being drained nonstop, to the point where the water-like cosmic energy started turning entirely into fog.

On the upper floors.

"What's happening?" A man wearing a bathrobe who had been relaxing in the White Spring froze as the water completely evaporated and turned into fog before shooting downward.

It was not just him. Others were experiencing the same thing as well.

"Kya! The water disappeared, someone help!" A fine-looking lady who had been enjoying the spring alone screamed.

She had been completely naked, but because of the density and specialty of the cosmic energy water, one could not see through it.

Now that it was gone, she was completely exposed.

"What are you men looking at!" the lady screamed in shame and anger as she saw stares directed at her from nearby men.

One by one, all the spring water in the White Spring was completely drained.

"Did the three cities turn off the water? I heard the water from the lower floors is gone too! What is this! I demand my money back!"

"I can only stay here for a short amount of time, and you're telling me I won't get to experience it fully?"

"Give us our money back! Contact the three city council!"

...

Three City Council Law Enforcement Bureau Headquarters.

"Chief Williams, an irregularity has been found in the White Spring." A law enforcement personnel came barging into the main room of the headquarters.

Chief Williams, the head of the law enforcement bureau, was seated there alongside other important officers, as a meeting was underway.

With the sudden interruption, everyone turned to look at him.

"Irregularities in the White Spring?" The chief immediately reacted.

The law enforcement bureau had stationed two council elders there to maintain order, and they were extremely powerful.

How could an irregularity arise under their watch?

"It must be some guy barging in to hoard cosmic ore embryos again. I'm sure the elders have already dealt with him."

A woman wearing a police uniform and sharp glasses spoke calmly.

"Regardless, we should contact the elders before continuing the meeting." Chief Williams said seriously.

"The White Spring is our greatest asset. We cannot allow anything to happen to it."

However, even after ringing for several minutes, no one picked up.

The faces of the officers and the chief fell when they saw this.

Immediately, Chief Williams pressed a button beneath the table, and a holographic projection appeared.

It showed the White Spring, with multiple views displaying different levels of the facility.

Every floor had surveillance coverage except the lowest one, which was usually reserved for noble families or royalty.

From a single glance, they identified the irregularity.

The spring was gone.

"My officers." Chief Williams spoke with a grave expression.

"Prepare for dispatch. This is not an ordinary occurrence, especially since we cannot contact the elders."

"Yes!" everyone shouted in unison.

Just as they rose to leave, they froze.

VRRRAAAAAUM!!

A bone-chilling, out-of-place roar erupted from the direction of the White Spring.

All the officers turned toward the holographic screen in terror.

They knew one thing. The projection system had no sound capability.

That roar was loud enough to reach deep into the city itself.

The next moment, silver-purple brilliance erupted across the White Spring, covering it entirely.

...

"What is this?" Civilians and evolvers inside the spring panicked as they felt the entire structure shake with power.

Then, they heard the roar.

"W-what is that?" A 1st ranker trembled, and in the next moment, collapsed unconscious.

Others shook in fear. The 2nd rankers fared slightly better, but those below them fell unconscious instantly.

Boom!

The following instant, an explosion rang out.

The silver-purple brilliance shone even brighter than before, and a violent gale swept through every floor.

Those on the upper levels fell silent as the sunlight above vanished.

They were mute.

They simply could not process what had appeared before them.

"M-mommy." Some even cried out in fear.

What stood before them was a dragon.

An obsidian dragon, with purple light coursing across its black body, giving it a terrifying presence.

Even more shocking was the massive purple mechanical halo above its head.

It twisted and rotated constantly, as if calculating the secrets of the universe.

...

Inside the Law Enforcement Bureau, all the officers stared at the projection of the majestic dragon in disbelief.

"Just what is this...?" Chief Williams' throat went dry.

This could not be normal.

He would not have been half as shocked if the beast lacked that cold, calculating halo above its head.

Yet it had it, and the instant he stared at it, his energy stirred uncontrollably.

"Everyone, heed my words." Chief Williams spoke grimly.

"This is a red alert. I repeat, this is a red alert."

"That thing is not ordinary. I can feel its presence even from here."

He was not the only one.

They could feel it too.

Just how strong was it for its presence to reach the underground levels of the city's law enforcement bureau?

"Deploy the barrier and unleash all power weapons." Chief Williams added.

"This threat..." His voice stiffened.

"I'm afraid not even our City Lord can handle it."
