Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 297: Law of entropy

Whrmm!

The instant Grey's fist was about to collide with the Abyssal Mistress's head, the world flashed crimson for a split second. A dense, distorted red corruption spread across space itself, then vanished just as abruptly.

Time resumed.

The Abyssal Mistress's eyes widened. The moment she realized what had happened, she twisted her body aside with everything she had, narrowly avoiding the blow by a hair's breadth.

Boom!

Heavenly tribulation lightning burst from Grey's fist and slammed into the ground below. The impact detonated instantly, the earth collapsing inward as a massive mushroom cloud rose into the sky.

But Grey did not even glance at the destruction beneath him.

His gaze was locked onto the Abyssal Mistress.

Time had resumed on its own.

Not only that, his time stop had been forcibly canceled before reaching its six second limit. The ability entered cooldown without his command, as if something external had interfered with it directly.

Grey's expression shifted slightly.

Something had overridden his authority.

Just what kind of power was that?

His thoughts accelerated as fragments of what he had sensed replayed in his mind. That brief flash of red was not energy in the conventional sense. It was decay, collapse, disorder layered directly onto the structure of the world.

Then a system notification echoed in his consciousness.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens.]

[By observing an abyssal being, you have gained insight into the Law of Entropy.]

A flood of information surged into Grey's mind.

It was vast, heavy, and difficult to digest, like forcing open a door that should not yet exist. Concepts of degradation, irreversible loss, and systemic collapse intertwined with natural laws, forming patterns that went far beyond simple destruction.

This knowledge was not given freely.

It was extracted from the residual law fluctuations the Abyssal Mistress had left behind when she forcibly disrupted time itself.

Yes. It was her doing.

She had disrupted the time stop.

"You…" The Abyssal Mistress stared at him, disbelief flickering across her face. "What did you do?"

Her gaze sharpened as she continued, her voice turning cold.

"How did you cross the distance between us so quickly?"

She paused, then spoke again, this time with certainty.

"I clearly threw the spatial nodes in this area into disorder."

Hearing those words, Grey's expression changed.

Spatial nodes… into disorder?

Without hesitation, he activated his spatial perception.

What he saw made his pupils contract.

The spatial nodes around him were unstable.

They flickered erratically, phasing in and out of existence as if the world itself could no longer decide where space should remain fixed. Threads of red corruption seeped through the land, clinging to the fractured structure of space.

More alarmingly, several spatial nodes were beginning to collapse inward.

Crashing into themselves.

This was not simple spatial distortion.

It was structural failure!

That realization sent a chill through Grey's mind.

This was terrifying.

She clearly did not comprehend spatial law. That much was obvious to him. There was no precision, no control, no understanding of spatial layering or anchors.

And yet, she was still able to force spatial nodes into disorder.

Then, slowly, a smile spread across Grey's face.

Excitement filled his mind.

"Could this be…" he muttered, his eyes gleaming with realization. "The prevailing law of the Abyss?"

He lifted his head and spoke clearly.

"The Law of Entropy."

His voice echoed across the battlefield, loud enough for both the Abyssal Mistress and the bald headed expert nearby to hear.

"Miss! He knows about entropy!" the bald headed third rank expert exclaimed, his face drained of color. "How is that possible?"

The shock was not exaggerated.

The Law of Entropy was the core law of the Abyss. The fundamental principle that governed decay, collapse, and irreversible disorder. It was not merely powerful. It was forbidden knowledge.

Even among the high order, it was considered a top level secret.

In the entirety of the Southern Region branch, only a select few were aware of its existence.

The Abyssal Mistress.

Her future husband.

And him.

Yet now, an outsider had spoken its name openly.

"Hahaha." Seeing their expressions, Grey burst out laughing.

"Interesting. Very interesting." He smiled faintly, his eyes calm yet sharp.

"Who would have thought that I would encounter a law from the Abyss." His gaze lifted slightly. "This was truly unexpected. Looks like coming here was not a waste of time after all."

Boom!

Nexus energy erupted from his body at full output. Complex Nexus Overclock patterns spread across his form as his halo expanded, amplifying his power layer by layer.

The infernals scattered across the battlefield reacted immediately.

Their auras surged, their bodies stabilizing and strengthening under the influence of Grey's Nexus energy.

Grey glanced at them briefly, then issued a simple command.

"Eliminate the grey robed dogs over there."

The order carried the weight of authority.

The infernals moved without hesitation.

As for the two third rank experts.

Grey alone was enough.

It was time to put his Law of Life to use.

Whrmm!

The shapeless ability activated.

A massive sword manifested in midair, its form still vague, yet its presence unmistakable. It was nearly as large as Grey's draconic body, hovering silently above him as space trembled faintly around it.

Grey slowly spread his wings. His silver purple horns pulsed softly, a restrained pressure radiating outward.

"Alright," his voice rang out, distorted slightly by overlapping laws. "How do you want to do this?"

His gaze swept across the Abyssal Mistress and the bald headed expert.

"Both of you at the same time," he continued with a short laugh, "or one by one. Either is fine."

Grey was genuinely looking forward to this battle.

Fighting a wielder of the Law of Entropy was rare. Its influence over the world had always been exaggerated in records, but exaggerations were often rooted in truth.

He wanted to test it.

And then understand it.

Just by observing the Abyssal Mistress earlier, he had already gained considerable insight into the law.

She was clearly at major succession.

The bald headed expert beside her was no different.

Their comprehensions differed. Their manifestations were unstable in different ways.

If he observed both simultaneously, overlapping yet conflicting entropy fluctuations, Grey was confident.

He could grasp it.

"You are far too arrogant, Grey Lockhart," the bald headed expert shouted, his abyssal eyes blazing. "If you truly understand the Law of Entropy, then you should know its effect on both the individual and the world!"

In the next moment, entropy erupted from his body.

The surrounding space began to distort, structures decaying, order unraveling as corruption spread outward in waves.

"It is not something a mere human like you can stand against!"

With those words, he charged forward.

The Abyssal Mistress watched for a brief instant before moving as well.

Their figures flickered through the air, entropy surging in unison as disorder and corruption began to dominate the battlefield.

"Something I cannot win against?" Grey smiled faintly as he watched them approach. "That just happens to be where you are wrong."

Purple lightning crackled violently around his body.

"The law that i utilize," he continued calmly, "is very good at dealing with things that refuse to remain stable."

The sky darkened.

Clouds begun to gather rapidly, rumbling as oppressive pressure descended upon the battlefield.

It was time.

The heavens were about to pass judgment on the mortal world.
