Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 308: Xia Empire

"Where were you from? The Xia Empire?" Grey tilted his head slightly as he asked.

Grey's name matched perfectly with the one he had carried in his previous world. If that correspondence held true, then Lin Fang's name in this world should also align with his identity back on Earth.

That meant the Xia Empire.

"That's right. I'm from the Xia Empire," Lin Fang replied with a nod.

"What about you, Big Bro Grey?" Lin Fang asked curiously.

To think he would actually encounter another transmigrator here.

The thought alone made his heart race.

No wonder Big Bro Grey possessed such strange and unreasonable abilities. Now that he thought about it, everything made sense.

At first, he had been shocked.

Never in a million years had he imagined that someone like him, someone from Earth, would exist in this world alongside him.

And yet, here they were.

Grey hadn't explicitly revealed anything to him, but once he mentioned the year of transmigration, he fully revealed it to him.

Because the timing of their transmigrations was identical.

That fact alone could not be ignored.

Grey's voice broke the brief silence.

"I'm from the NUSA," he said shortly, a thoughtful look in his eyes.

Lin Fang immediately understood what he was thinking.

So he voiced it.

"Why do you think we transmigrated, Big Bro Grey?" Lin Fang asked.

"The timing of our transmigration isn't a coincidence," He added. "You arrived five days before me, and the year matches exactly."

"That can't be random."

Lin Fang fell silent.

"I don't know," Grey said after a moment. His eyes flickered with a faint glint of light.

At first, he had believed his transmigration was purely accidental.

His death had been painfully ordinary.

After a long day of college lectures, he had returned home, socialized briefly, then tried to fix a malfunctioning water heater. Irritated, he struck it, and the resulting electric spark had ended everything.

When he opened his eyes again, he was already on Blue Star.

Back then, he had dismissed it as bad luck.

But now…

It no longer felt that simple.

Grey had already asked Lin Fang how he had died.

The answer had been the same.

Electrocution.

A thought surfaced in his mind.

Could it be that those who died by electrocution were being sent to Blue Star to begin a new life?

Or was electricity merely a trigger, a medium, rather than the true cause?

And there was something else.

Something Grey had noticed about Lin Fang earlier.

A notification resurfaced in his memory.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens. By observing a Golden Finger, you have gained insight into the World-Scale Causality Engine and the Dao of Machinery.]

[Error. Your existence is too shallow to comprehend the Dao of Machinery. The insights you received have been diminished to safeguard you from falling into madness.]

Golden Finger.

That term was far too familiar.

Grey had read countless novels back on Earth. He knew exactly what it meant.

Golden Fingers were cheats.

Unreasonable advantages granted to protagonists.

Just like his own Comprehension Lotus.

Grey's gaze sharpened slightly as he looked at Lin Fang.

If Lin Fang possessed a Golden Finger as well, then their transmigration was not an accident.

Maybe someone had deliberately selected a group of beings and implanted them with Golden Fingers before sending them to Blue Star.

The possibility existed.

If so, then there was a mastermind behind all of this.

That thought lingered in Grey's mind for a brief moment before he moved on.

He raised his gaze.

"You have a Golden Finger, don't you?" Grey tilted his head slightly as he asked. "Something like a cheat. Or a system."

Lin Fang's eyes widened instantly.

"Y-You sensed it, Big Bro Grey?" His voice trembled with disbelief.

But the one truly shaken was not Lin Fang.

It was the system itself.

[???]

Three question marks appeared in Lin Fang's vision.

Even he could tell that it was confused.

[Host, be on alert.]

[This Grey Lockhart is no ordinary individual. He has perceived the system's existence.]

[Proceed with extreme caution.]

What the system did not realize was that every time it spoke, Grey's comprehension surged sharply.

Notifications rang out in rapid succession within Grey's consciousness, fragments of understanding assembling themselves almost instantly.

Grey's eyes narrowed slightly.

A pattern formed.

"Is it reacting to me," he asked calmly, "or is it talking to you?"

Lin Fang froze.

Grey could not perceive it directly. He could not sense it through energy, law, or spatial fluctuation.

Yet his Comprehension Lotus detected it effortlessly.

That alone spoke volumes.

The Comprehension Lotus existed above Lin Fang's Golden Finger.

"…," Lin Fang fell silent.

His mind was in complete chaos.

What was even happening?

Could it be that Big Bro Grey was some kind of omniscient existence?

How else could he describe what was happening inside his system so accurately, down to its reactions?

"You… Brother Grey," Lin Fang finally asked, his voice hesitant, "what kind of power do you have? How can you sense my system?"

"You don't need to know," Grey replied with a faint smile.

Lin Fang posed no danger to him.

That much Grey had already confirmed.

As a fellow citizen from Earth, Lin Fang was one of the sensible ones. Grey had already reviewed his background records before this conversation.

In the past, Lin Fang had been arrogant. During the championship events, he had always carried himself as if standing above others.

But after entering the High Order, reality had tempered him.

The arrogance was gone.

What remained was someone grounded.

Grey's gaze sharpened slightly.

"Joining the High Order," he asked casually, "was that part of the mission your system gave you?"

By now, Grey's intuition had reached a frightening level.

His ability to deduce patterns was razor sharp. Given enough information, he could reconstruct motives, structures, and hidden frameworks with terrifying accuracy.

If he claimed second place in pattern-based deduction, no one would dare claim first.

Unless they had already touched Nexus energy and Origin Imprints before him.

In the field of recognizing occuring patterns, he alone was the honored one!
