As my speech concluded, the queen began to stir from her sleep. Her eyes slowly opened to see all her subjects staring at her, while she was in a compromising position wrapped around me. Her face turned into a bright blush. As if to retain whatever dignity she had left, she quickly separated herself from me while wiping my blood from her lips.
"My queen, is it true that you decided to hand over your rule?" A lamia asked as he lowered himself to his queen. His face was etched with worry.
The queen stared at me then back at her people in front of her.
"Yes, from now on this werewolf will be your alpha."
They had heard already from me, but hearing their queen's confirmation sunk their moods even more. Of course, most of them seemed opposed to her decision, but since she was their queen, they had no choice but to obey.
"By the way, a part of the reason we came here was to free the innkeeper," I said.
The queen looked at me and raised an eyebrow.
"The innkeeper? Do you mean the one that had his restaurant destroyed? I had him locked up for his carelessness."
"I want you to release him. I'm the reason why his inn got destroyed, so I'll pay for the damages."
"That's fine, not an issue."
The moment she said those words, Asia, who was standing in the crowd of lamia, smiled happily. Her excitement for her father's release was palpable.
The queen then called forth some of her men and ordered them to retrieve Asmond from where he had been held. A short while later, the innkeeper was reunited with his daughter, who greeted him with a passionate hug. The two embraced each other while crying tears of joy.
I felt satisfied that Asia could reunite with her father. At least part of the debt I owed them was cleared. I wouldn't be calling on them soon, so there wasn't anything else I needed in Little Eden.
"So what will we do now?" Khalissi asked, looking at the current situation with amusement.
"Now I go save Isabella. I've kept her waiting long enough."
My words only brought a smile to the demon's face as she nodded her head in satisfaction. She was probably happy about letting loose once more. Just then, the lamia queen approached us.
"Is what my people say true? Are you really going to assassinate the heir of the Veylmont clan?"
"Yes, that is the plan," I answered.
"If you do succeed with this, the entire city will be in an uproar. You won't be able to hide in the shadows anymore."
"Which is why I'll need a sizable force at my back."
From my understanding, all the noble vampires have forces loyal to them so they can threaten war at any time. It is because of those forces that they are able to stay at the top in the first place. The threat of war is all anyone needs to call for peace.
With the lamias and ghouls at my back, I'll have a similar power. I'll start by positioning myself as one of the heads of the city. I'll become a nobleman and slowly learn more and more about this city until I'm fully capable of making it fall.
"That's risky. Trust me, even I want to go against the vampires, but after what I saw in the great war, I'm smart enough not to. I'll advise you to do the same. Maybe in a few more centuries you can—"
"I've already made up my mind. What I need from you now is keep your colony in line."
Hearing my words, she only nodded.
After spending a while in Little Eden, we decided to head back. Asia and her father guided us through Little Eden after Asmond expressed his heartfelt gratitude. Even though I told him that I was the one at fault, he still insisted that he owed me.
I was beginning to like Asmond. He was a good person and loyal to a fault. People like him were rare nowadays, especially now that the world had changed drastically.
So far, my time in Purgatory had given me a vision as to what my pack could be like.
I loved a lot of things about this city, but I also hated a lot. I had a clear vision of what Ryomen could be like, and a part of me really wanted to go back, but there was still much to do.
"What are you thinking about?" Khalissi asked on our way back as she walked beside me.
"I'm just happy I didn't give away the mana crystals. Those treasures could be the key to transforming Ryomen."
"Oh really?"
"Look at this place. Mana crystals made it what it is. All I need now is a witch with the knowledge and expertise to use it properly. Most likely one of the four queen witches."
"You wish to create a thriving city like this in the apocalypse. That's a tough task. Why not just stick with what you have?" She asked.
"No, I want more."
What I had now is nothing compared to what it could be.
"By the way, you wouldn't happen to have the expertise I'm looking for?" I asked.
The demon shook her head.
"No, I'm sorry. My knowledge of mana crystals only extends to combat. I'm honestly impressed by what the witches built here. Of course, we demons have built similar structures, and our knowledge and technology using mana stones far exceeds anything you humans are capable of. But still… this city is quite impressive for a group so primitive."
"Oh, I would like to see some of these technologies you speak of. What makes us so primative?"
The witch smiled.
"You are like cavemen who just discovered fire."
I couldn't argue with that. We only just discovered the power of mana crystals since the witches kept them a secret.
"Also, let me remind you, you're just one man. Conquest is coming, and you need to evolve to even face him. Focus on one thing at a time; you'll burn out if you try to take on too many," she said.
"Noted. I'll deal with one thing at a time. Don't worry."
Khalissi and I talked for a little bit until we reached the surface. The moment we got back, I began setting things in motion. I needed everything to be perfect for me to even have a chance at saving Isabella.
