Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 186: The Morning After

The next morning I woke up to Isabella sleeping soundly on my chest, her chest slowly rising and falling with every breath.

The sight of her was breathtaking, but that wasn't what had my attention at this moment. I could sense something outside my room.

I laid Isabella down on the bed and dragged on my robe before walking towards the door. When I opened the door, I was greeted by a sight that left me a little surprised.

I saw Sylvie curled up outside my door sleeping. Her ears twitched slightly as she hugged her fluffy tail and slept like a doll.

"Don't tell me she spent the night here? This is just like her."

I reached out and began petting her behind the ear, which caused her tail to begin dancing excitedly before her eyes opened in surprise.

"Lee!"

She looked a little embarrassed when she saw me. Her ears drooped and her tail retreated between her legs.

"Sylvie's room was too far away and Sylvie can't sleep if she can't hear Lee's heartbeat. Sylvie was protecting Lee, are you mad?"

I gave her a kind smile to relieve her worry.

"No, I'm not mad. You did a good job at protecting me."

At my words, her earlier excitement returned as her tail began moving side to side more excitedly.

"But if you want to sleep, you should come inside," I said.

"But Lee…"

I lifted her up before she could refute and brought her inside.

"Lee, Sylvie still has to protect…"

"Yeah, yeah, you can do your guard duty from inside. I don't like the idea of you sleeping outside."

"Lee, no fair," she pouted, but the moment I brought her into the room, her expression changed when she saw Isabella sleeping soundly.

Her eyes glowed murderous orange. She bared her sharp fangs as her claws grew longer.

I slowly stroked the top of her head and immediately her claws and fangs retracted.

"Lee."

"Play nice."

"But the leech…"

"If you do, I'll give you a reward."

"A treat?!" She couldn't help but look at me excitedly. "Okay, fine."

I placed Sylvie on the bed beside Isabella while I went for a shower. A few minutes later, I came back into the room.

Isabella was awake. She was fondling the remote as I entered the room while Sylvie was on the bed glaring at her.

"What are you looking for?" I asked.

"The news station. I want to see if there was anything about Allucard's death. Something like that would make major headlines around the city."

I could see her logic, but I doubted that would be the case.

"The clan would want to keep it under wraps that the eldest son was murdered just like the youngest. They would certainly lose a bit of their reputation if word got out."

"Yes, you're right. I was just wondering…"

Just as we spoke, the headline flashed in front of our faces.

'THE ELDEST SON OF THE VELYMONT CLAN KILLED IN AN ASSAULT ON THEIR ESTATE LAST NIGHT!'

I could hardly believe it at first, but then it all made sense. The witches must've leaked the news.

Just as I thought this was it, something else appeared that caused my eyes to widen in surprise.

"That is…"

"Lee."

An image flashed on the screen. An image of the one who carried out the assault, an image of me clear as day.

'The image shown on the screen is of the perpetrator. A werewolf that has snuck into our city. A terrorist that had led several attacks so far. He has to be stopped. Anyone with information, please contact us immediately.'

This complicates things. The hotel staff… They saw my face. So did the people in the lobby. There will be an entire manhunt out for me at this rate.

For all I knew, they could've already contacted the vampires.

"We have to leave," I said.

"Yes, that is best before the vampires get here."

I quickly used my thermal vision to scan through the building to see if there was anything suspicious going on. I didn't see anything suspicious, but I would still have to be careful.

"Where will we go, Lee?" Sylvie asked.

"We'll go to Grey Waste. It's the safest place for us right now."

But before that, there was something else I needed to take care of.

This hotel currently had 350 heartbeats inside. Heartbeats that would've been useless if I left right now.

KNOCK KNOCK

Just then, a knock came on the door. Sylvie sprang to her feet ready to act while Isabella also took a battle stance.

"Don't worry, it's the others," I assured them as I opened the door to see Selthia, Kumo, Yuki, and Khalissi.

I ushered them inside and told them what I decided to do.

"I've decided. I want you to go to Grey Waste."

"Us? Just us?" Selthia asked, picking up on my choice of words.

"Yes. Khalissi and I will stay back here while the rest of you go to Grey Waste. I have a few errands to take care of before I return with you."

The girls looked hesitant, but they couldn't refuse my order, so after saying their goodbyes and quickly packing their stuff, they left.

I watched until they exited the building before I finally turned my attention to Khalissi who was standing beside me.

"I need you to make sure no one leaves or enters this building."

A satisfied smile bloomed on her face.

"Yes, I have just the spell for that. Is there anything else you need from me?"

"No, just stay out of my way."

"Very well."

This hotel was a rather luxurious one. Rich with high-quality blood, I could smell it.

It was the perfect hunting ground, which is part of the reason why I decided to come here.

It was all I could think about last night. My instincts were screaming at me.

That was all that plagued my mind. The thought of hunting the creatures here in this hotel.

The sweet release of power I used to get when I killed something was no more, and I found myself craving it. I needed to level up by any means, and this was just one step towards that goal.

My eyes glowed the same color of flames as my claws exploded through my fingertips. I raised my nose into the air as I located my first prey.

I found them just a few meters from where I was, and with a burst of power from my legs, I was off.
