Chapter 167: Hell? No to Me This Is Heaven (20K Character Update 5/5)

The entrance of the Force Field.

The heavy echo of the alloy gate closing hadn't yet dispersed, and the cold metallic sheen reflected on Deputy Director Zhao Qiming's livid face.

He suddenly turned sharply.

His bloodshot eyes swept over the group of officers and advisors standing solemnly behind him.

His voice was hoarse yet scraped across everyone's eardrums like a blade:

"The battle inside has erupted!" He jabbed a finger heavily at the shut gate, "Now, it's our turn!"

"Those Creation Technology bastards dare to play dirty right under my nose! Using our brothers' lives to feed that monster!" Zhao Qiming's chest heaved violently, each word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, carrying a bloody taste, "An insider! There must be an insider! Otherwise, how did those Modified Martial Artists sneak in? How did they know the layout of the passages inside?!"

"Investigate!" Zhao Qiming's voice suddenly rose, like a thunderclap, "Dig three feet deep! The camp, the perimeter, all communication nodes, material transfer records! Every single person who had abnormal movements or contacted the entrance guard sequence after the quake, don't miss a single one! Sift through them! Better to investigate wrongly than to let them off!"

"Make our supporting brothers lose heart again, and I'll shoot you worthless lot myself! Move!"

The order, laden with immense anger and an undeniable intent to kill, dropped like a bomb.

Behind him, the officers shuddered, their eyes instantly turning sharp like hawks, saluted silently, then scattered like a pack of wolves, combing through every suspicious corner of the camp.

The air of killing intent quickly replaced the despair and chaos of last night.

And inside the gate, was another world.

The thick, cold, dark purple miasma churned, swallowing the light entirely.

Su Wanqing walked in the front, a layer of gentle, holy pure white light surrounding her like a lighthouse in the darkness, seemingly an invisible purification field.

Where the light reached.

The dense miasma retreated and dissolved like snow encountering a hot iron, making a faint "sizzle" sound, quickly melting away to form a relatively "clean" passage.

"Roar!"

Several Bone-piercing Corpse Guards, smelling the presence of humans, burst forth from the tumors on the side wall, growling as they pounced.

The Bone Blade tore through the miasma, flashing with a ghostly green cold light.

Su Wanqing didn't even turn around.

She merely lifted a finger nonchalantly, pointing lightly in the direction of the pounce.

Buzz!

A beam of concentrated, milky white brilliance shot out from her fingertip, moving faster than visual capture.

The moment the light touched the Corpse Guards.

There was no earth-shattering explosion, only a silent annihilation.

The monstrous Bone Blades and shriveled corpses dissolved and disintegrated from the point of contact as if dropped in strong acid, turning into the smallest dust particles, leaving not a trace of ash behind, completely vanishing in the miasma. As if they had never existed.

The might of the Divine Chosen is terrifying indeed!

Fang Qingyu's pupils contracted, a chill sweeping through his heart.

Wei Banmeng's cold eyes also flickered with a trace of solemnity.

Jiang Wei curiously glanced a few more times at the dissipating light spots.

The team advanced silently yet efficiently.

Every so often, when they reached a pre-set key point on the map, Su Wanqing would halt, and two to three people from the team would automatically split off.

"Coordinate S-7, set up the 'Seashell' node, hold your ground."

Su Wanqing's voice was cold and concise, indisputable.

Those named had no hesitation, immediately unloading the large metal boxes they carried, swiftly beginning to assemble complex instrument components.

Their mission was to guard these fragile communication nodes in a hell surrounded by Life Ghosts, until Su Wanqing reached the core area to find the four Grandmasters and successfully restore communication.

Or, die in battle...

The duration to hold?

Unknown.

This was the true cost behind Fang Qingyu's deposit box.

As they ventured deeper, the surrounding scenes transformed drastically.

The initially writhing membranes and slime covering the passages were gone, replaced by cold, hard, primitive rock walls riddled with large gouges and energy burn marks.

The air was no longer merely putrid.

It was mixed with a strong sulfur smell and the cold scent of deep underground rocks.

The people behind Su Wanqing grew fewer and fewer.

Finally, after passing through a narrow rock crevice barely wide enough for two people abreast, as if cleaved by a Giant Axe, the view opened up.

It was a natural, massive rock cave dome space.

Irregular in shape as if formed by the tears of a battle between ancient giant beasts.

The dome soared high, hidden in dense darkness, with only some pale glowing moss in the crevices of the rocky walls providing faint illumination.

The ground was relatively flat, covered with rubble and thick dust.

Several deep giant cracks, leading to unknown destinations, gaped like the throats of monsters around the cave.

Deadly silent, icy, vast to the point of inducing fear.

"We've arrived."

Su Wanqing stopped, turning around.

Behind her, only Fang Qingyu, Jiang Wei, and Wei Banmeng remained.

Su Wanqing's gaze fell on Fang Qingyu, the layer of holy white light slightly flowing, illuminating her stunning yet expressionless face: "'Seashell' main node, set it up here. Guard it until communication is restored, or I return."

After speaking, she paused, her voice seemingly colder and harder than the rocky walls, yet at the end, a barely perceptible fluctuation emerged: "Succeed, and the Su Family will pay an equivalent reward again."

Fang Qingyu had already unloaded his large backpack, filled with compressed food, purified water, spare energy, and resources.

He nodded calmly, without unnecessary words: "Okay."

Su Wanqing gave him a long look.

Her gaze swept over Jiang Wei's tense face and Wei Banmeng's cold demeanor, her red lips parted, uttering three words so light they were almost swallowed by the cave's echoes:
