Dawn of a New Era

Chapter 364: The Book of Knowledge's Stirring

The forest at night is not tranquil.

Strange insect chirps and beast roars are everywhere.

The two moved quickly, and after about half an hour, they faintly heard the rumble of a helicopter in the distance.

"We're almost there." Luo Jingwen's voice was full of excitement.

Chen Shouyi, with his somewhat dizzy head, also tried to perk up after hearing this.

Luo Jingwen finally noticed Chen Shouyi's abnormal state and hurriedly asked, "Chen Shouyi, are you okay? I saw you bleeding earlier but didn't ask!"

"You must have mistaken it for someone else's blood!" Chen Shouyi hurriedly said, such a thing is impossible to admit.

Never admitting in a lifetime!

"Maybe I'm just too hungry!" Chen Shouyi disguised.

Of course, he's hungry, so hungry it burned, but not to the point of dizziness. He understood in his heart that the Book of Knowledge had some problems affecting his mind.

"Then you stay here, and I'll get some prey for you!" Luo Jingwen didn't think much; the Giant Transformation's terrifying power naturally couldn't come without consumption.

Last time, his appetite increased significantly; this time, it's evidently more serious.

"Thank you!" Chen Shouyi said gratefully.

"No need for thanks!"

Once the other disappeared into the forest, Chen Shouyi quickly closed his eyes and entered the Book of Knowledge Space.

Upon entering, he found the entire space filled with a dark and evil aura, with a hint of ominousness, as if countless resentful voices cursed and swore.

Chen Shouyi was not unfamiliar with this black mist.

This is the Curse of the Gods.

He had experienced it once during the encirclement of the God of Courage.

Back then, he fainted, had nightmares repeatedly, and nearly fell into eternal perdition.

This time, maybe because of killing up close with his own hands, the curse was more severe.

The entire space was filled with black mist, and the area of the World Tree was a pool of darkness as thick as ink. Fortunately, his will was much stronger than before, remaining conscious throughout, at most a bit dizzy.

Seeing this, Chen Shouyi breathed a sigh of relief.

He's experienced this once, after all.

He hesitated a bit and walked towards the World Tree's location. After a few steps, he was swallowed by the darkness. Countless black mist like tentacles grabbed towards him, reality was rapidly peeling away, and vaguely a fierce female giant roared towards him.

Chen Shouyi shook his dizzy head, focused his mind, and the surroundings instantly returned to normal, and he continued forward.

"Damn, not afraid of the living, why be afraid of the dead, let alone it's just a curse!"

After a dozen steps, a small tree surrounded by dense black mist appeared before him.

All its leaves were trembling slightly, occasionally shooting out fragments of light from the darkness, emitting pleasing celestial sound, yet the sound propagated little distance before being swiftly swallowed by darkness.

Seeing this, Chen Shouyi couldn't help but worry if this weak and small mutant World Tree could absorb these dense black mists as black as ink.

But after watching for a while, he completely let go of his worries.

He found that as time passed, the World Tree was visibly growing larger.

Absorbing all these black mists was only a matter of time.

Staying here didn't have much use, so he immediately left the Book of Knowledge Space.

Taking advantage of Luo Jingwen's absence.

Chen Shouyi took off the clothes and pants tied around his waist and looked down briefly.

Luckily, the wound was fully healed, recovering perfectly.

He swiftly put back on his clothes and pants.

After waiting for a few more minutes, Luo Jingwen returned, carrying a prey.

Midnight.

The two had just walked down the mountain forest when a team of soldiers stopped them.

Nanshan City had already become a military camp. Under the moonlight, the road was filled with tanks and armored vehicles lined up like dragons.

More than a dozen helicopters were constantly circling in the sky, guarding all around.

It was completely a battlefield air.

Guided by the soldiers, the two headed straight for the command headquarters.

Though it was already midnight, the place was still brightly lit.

With South City having no electricity yet, they used gasoline lamps.

Upon hearing the soldiers report that two martial artists had returned from in-depth intelligence gathering in the East Sea Province, the command headquarters immediately paid great attention, surrounded by a heap of large and small officers, even alerting the once-resting commander of the war zone.

High up, their understanding of East Sea City's intelligence was limited, almost blind.

Time was really tight.

To prevent the cult from gaining nukes, this war could be described as hastily commenced, without time to wait for detailed intelligence to emerge.

Upon a few consultants' inquiries, Luo Jingwen began to speak about the situation in Qujiang City and the survey's findings. When he talked about the demigod already slain by Chen Shouyi en route.

The commander who had been mostly silent beside finally couldn't hold back, "Killed, are you sure!"

He glanced at the seemingly dazed young man beside Luo Jingwen, incredulously.

The demigod, though not as terrifying as a True God.

But if killed easily, wouldn't be called a demigod.

Even now with planes back in the air and various mechanized weapons gradually resuming, a demigod is extremely hard to kill.

Such a terrifying being, with mighty strength and amazing reaction capability, freely avoiding bombs, is completely reliant on concentrated and extensive attacks to aim, not to mention luck.

Besides, even if hit, many times they wouldn't die, just be injured somewhat, with the intent to escape, couldn't chase up.

Luo Jingwen lightly nudged Chen Shouyi.

Chen Shouyi came to from trance and said, "I cut off her head, she should be dead right!"

Suddenly the surroundings quieted down.

The commander's eyelid couldn't help but twitch.

Realizing he couldn't only focus on personal glory, Chen Shouyi supplemented, "Actually the main credit is the air force, the demigod was heavily injured by the air cannon, otherwise I wouldn't have the chance to take him down."

The commander instantly breathed a long sigh of relief, now it made sense!

How could an unacclaimed young, civilian martial artist take down a demigod!

"Rest assured, we the military won't claim your civilian martial artists' credit, what's yours is yours!" He was in a good mood and generously said, "It's late now. You've been lurking in the occupied zone for a week; probably don't want to stay here. I'll dispatch a helicopter right away, to fly you back!"

The two walked out of the tent.

Luo Jingwen looked at Chen Shouyi as if he were an alien.

"What's the matter?" Chen Shouyi asked puzzled.

"I say you're really honest, how could you humbly let others seize this credit! Otherwise, they might think you killed a dying demigod, luckily this commander is magnanimous, or your credit would shrink!" Luo Jingwen whispered.

"Is there such a thing?" Chen Shouyi was amazed, apparently still too young!

"Ordinary tasks can't be seized by others and are unimportant, but slaying a demigod is a huge credit, never be humble in the future!" Luo Jingwen kindly advised.

Chen Shouyi nodded, accepting the counsel.

Thinking inwardly: Only once is enough!

This was mere coincidence and luck; if met with a full-strength demigod, escape would be overwhelming.

Quickly, a helicopter launched into the air and flew off into the distance.
