Hidden Moth

Chapter 178: A Common Man's Wrath Cannot Be Quelled (Part 3)

The father was both anxious and angry, and fell ill in the hospital. At just twenty-three years old, having recently graduated from university, Ye Liangcheng had no choice but to take over his family's company.

In order to pay for his father's medical bills and, more importantly, to settle debts, he even sold their family home.

The main reason Ye Liangcheng later stayed at the construction site and refused to leave was certainly that the project funds had not been received. Another objective reason was that he had nowhere else to live.

After selling the house and paying off the debts, his father also passed away. The Ye Family originally had considerable savings, and Ye Liangcheng had a hundred thousand remaining in his hands. He could have sought other opportunities, starting a new life.

It made no sense for him to waste his youth in this wasteland, but he ultimately couldn't let go. Not getting the project funds was one matter, but how his father got this project was another.

While on his sickbed, his father had recalled carefully that the middleman Hu Shulue was someone he met in the business field, who averred that there was a way to secure the project and hinted for him to pay to grease the wheels.

His father also inquired discreetly and found out that this Hu Shulue was quite reliable at handling affairs before proactively going through him to acquire this project.

Hu Shulue collected his kickback, yet the project turned out this way.

It was said the developer ran into trouble, and it seemed Hu Shulue, the middleman, wasn't to blame. However, by some unspoken rule, taking such a payoff implicitly obligated him to ensure the contractor received the project funds on time.

Additionally, Ye Liangcheng later discovered that issues with the developer's funds had been known long before by its high-level executives.

Before the Ye Family Company took up the project, many senior executives silently handled the bonds and financial assets issued by the group, clearly attempting to offload risk.

Hu Shulue had insider relationships and channels and was aware of the situation. He did the same as well.

Originally, a company that Hu Shulue had partnerships with intended to take this project, but he later handed it to the Ye Family Company, collecting substantial benefits from it.

The father must have been sold out by Hu Shulue, yet he still proactively offered him a large sum of money.

The hot-blooded Ye Liangcheng confronted Hu Shulue, demanding that he at least cough up the three million in public relations fees before even mentioning the project funds.

However, Hu Shulue entirely denied it, claiming he was just a helpful middleman. The bribe money Ye Liangcheng's father spent was all pocketed by the developer's internal personnel, and had nothing to do with him.

He also suggested if Ye Liangcheng was not satisfied, he could hire a lawyer and sue him whenever he pleased!

Ye Liangcheng, brimming with anger, wanted to strike him, but ended up being thrown out by the bodyguards accompanying Hu Shulue, literally thrown out. In contemporary Eastern Country, who else has regular bodyguards if not someone with too many secrets?

Homeless and growing in hatred, Ye Liangcheng stuck to his resolve to exact his revenge, consequently beginning to silently track Hu Shulue... Surely he could find a moment when Hu Shulue was alone?

Heaven does not let down those who toil, and he soon found an opportunity. Looking back, it was likely a chance deliberately given by Hu Shulue.

During that time, Hu Shulue took up a habit of morning runs in a riverside park near his residence.

That day, Ye Liangcheng hid a steel pipe in his trench coat. When Hu Shulue jogged down a secluded path, he sprang from the roadside bushes and struck from behind with the pipe.

Despite suffering losses from his two "bodyguards", Ye Liangcheng, whose physique was certainly formidable due to his enjoyment of fitness and participation in clubs like free fighting during university, remained agile.

He refused to believe he couldn't take down Hu Shulue even when equipped, but the outcome shattered his worldview and even led him to doubt life itself!

As soon as he brandished the steel pipe, Hu Shulue turned and looked at him. Out of nowhere, a rope seemingly came alive, binding and hoisting him onto a roadside tree.

Using just a wave of his hand from several meters away, Hu Shulue summoned a sharp piece of ground stone. It floated in the air, steadily aiming for Ye Liangcheng's throat.

The rope constrained tightly, leaving Ye Liangcheng unable to breathe or make any sound. All he could see was the murderous intent in Hu Shulue's eyes as the sharp shards approached...

The sense of oppression and terror, unimaginable without personal experience!

Just when the stones were about to slash his throat, a gust seemed to fly by, shattering the stone with a crack, leaving scars on his face from the fragments.

A voice then echoed, "Spare someone when possible! He is just an ordinary person; offer a lesson if needed, but taking a life is unnecessary."

Startled by the sound, the rope binding Ye Liangcheng suddenly loosened and whizzed behind a tree, only to rapidly recoil, being tucked back into Hu Shulue's sleeve... It seemed he engaged someone in a remote confrontation.

Hu Shulue seemed no better off, wary and apprehensive of the newcomer. He stared coldly in the direction of the bushes, locked momentarily in confrontation, but eventually subdued his aura.

He glanced at Ye Liangcheng, saying, "Count yourself lucky today. Try causing trouble again, and I'll make sure you die without even knowing how!" With that, he turned and left.

As the rope flew off, Ye Liangcheng also fell to the ground, dazed and disoriented, unable to get up for a while.

Once he struggled to his feet, Hu Shulue was long gone, yet a masked figure slowly emerged from the bushes… This marked his first encounter with Master Kucha.
