Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 4: Arrival

Chen Wen's attitude made Sun feel quite comfortable.

The girl was no longer as distant and guarded as she initially was.

She chirped, "That's the right attitude, but don't be too afraid. We have a good relationship with the Exploration Association in the United States. They recommended their Rookie King this time, a guy named Adam."

"This guy is very capable and has come to our place to learn from Mr. Liu. He's pretty nice. If you establish a good relationship with him beforehand, you could team up with him."

"That way, you're guaranteed a top five finish!"

"The rest is up to you to work hard and move forward."

Chen Wen didn't take her words to heart after hearing them.

His survival skills are quite unique, and he can only fully unleash his abilities when surviving alone.

Therefore, Chen Wen laughed and said, "I'll give it a try."

After hearing this, Sun didn't say much more.

She opened up the two documents on the table, glanced over them, and handed them to Chen Wen.

"One is about the contestants and the program rules, and the other is an introduction to Sonora Desert. It was meant to be given to you; you should look at them now."

"Remember to pay extra attention to the rules."

Chen Wen nodded and accepted the two documents solemnly.

These are important!

However, he didn't look at them now but started probing for information about the Wilderness Survival Branch instead.

Soon, the guard-dropped Sun spilled all the beans to Chen Wen like a bamboo tube pouring out beans.

The Wilderness Survival Branch wasn't established long ago, and there aren't many people involved.

The branch president is Liu Yu, and there are three vice-presidents, but they all operate in the branch's office area.

These three offices are the Exploration Association's headquarters, and Liu Yu, being a vice-president, comes to the office in shifts.

That's why the meeting place was set here.

Chen Wen also figured out the location of the branch.

He also learned about the membership conditions.

According to Sun, after participating in this Deathmatch and achieving a top-three finish, he would barely qualify.

These are the conditions for core membership, equivalent to being an insider.

Amateurs can just pay.

Just as Chen Wen was continuing to dig for information.

Liu Yu came in wearing a brand-new tracksuit.

Judging by his hair, it seemed he had just taken a shower.

"How's the chat going?"

Liu Yu laughed and said, "Sun is known as Small Birdie, but in my view, she's more like a Little Crow; her mouth never stops!"

Indeed, if you come any later, this girl probably would tell me all your personal gossip.

Chen Wen smiled slightly and said, "Miss Sun is indeed good at communication; we had a pleasant chat."

Sun made a sound of disdain.

She didn't expect she was half a year older than Chen Wen.

"That's good then."

Liu Yu pointed at the documents in front of Chen Wen and said, "These are the files sent over by the production team. I had Sun print them for you last night. Take a good look when you get back, especially at the rules."

Upon hearing Liu Yu mention the rules as well, Chen Wen curiously asked, "Rules? Are there issues in that regard?"

Liu Yu nodded, "Being cautious never does harm. We've been targeted for quite some time now."

"Aside from the rules, knowing a bit about the contestants will suffice."

"Sonora Desert is different from other deserts. The terrain here is relatively complex, mostly consisting of arid plains with very little pure desert terrain, and cactus is abundant to the point where they're uncountable. Since the recording is happening at the tail end of the rainy season, everything is growing wildly, making movement extremely inconvenient."

"You don't need to worry about other contestants trying to eliminate you; just focus on survival."

Chen Wen quickly memorized this piece of advice in his mind.

The older generation is indeed wise; they can see the key to survival at a glance.

"But..."

Liu Yu stroked his chin, having Chen Wen turn to the first page of the contestant introduction: "Pay attention to Gina Benitez. She harbors extreme animosity towards us, is a racist, and has had disputes with Yun, who is your second recommender. She might actively seek you out."

"Also, for the sake of drama and to make the show more entertaining, the production team may instigate conflicts among contestants, so you should be prepared to be attacked."

Chen Wen nodded and glanced at Gina's personal introduction.

She and Hua Yun participated in "Wilderness Solitude: One Hundred Days" together.

While surviving, conflicts arose due to their proximity to Hua Yun's survival area.

The final outcome was evidently disadvantageous to her; she was forced by Hua Yun with a bow and arrow to relinquish the prey between the two of them and was eliminated third.

This led to her being criticized by fans for a while, losing followers significantly.

Many of the fans she attracted were racists like herself.

Just as the two were discussing Gina.

Hua Yun also arrived.

She walked in with a file bag and said, "Mr. Liu, I'm late."

"Haha, it's fine, have a seat."

Liu Yu waved his hand, "Didn't you notice the president hasn't arrived yet? It's set a bad example, and the root of the Exploration Association's habit of tardiness lies with the president, not you guys."

Upon hearing this, Sun burst out laughing.

Chen Wen also struggled to hold back.

As a vice-president, is it appropriate to make jokes about the president like this?

Hua Yun nodded expressionlessly and handed the file to Chen Wen, "Here's intelligence about Sonora Desert; give it a thorough look."

Chen Wen nodded, taking the file bag and keeping it safe.

Once everything was handed over to Chen Wen, Liu Yu didn't elaborate further: "Overall, perform well, stay steady, and I await your good news!"

Chen Wen nodded and earnestly said, "I believe you will definitely receive good news."

"Haha, you have the same confident demeanor I had when I was young!"

Liu Yu laughed heartily and waved his hand, "Go ahead, Yun, have a chat with Chen Wen; you young folks have lots of topics to discuss."

...

Leaving the Exploration Association headquarters.

Hua Yun took Chen Wen to the branch.

Mainly to introduce the two assistants who would accompany Chen Wen to the United States.

On the way, Hua Yun was relatively silent.

But just before reaching the branch and getting out of the car.

Hua Yun seriously reminded Chen Wen, "This survival attempt, stay steady, don't take risks. If you fail, it would reflect badly on Mr. Liu. You should... take care!"

"I thought Mr. Liu would, as he did before, have a vice-president from the branch recommend you, but unexpectedly, he personally wrote a recommendation letter."

"He really cares about his reputation; writing it himself means he is very optimistic about you and values you greatly."

"But you've never survived in a desert before; most of your life has been spent at the seaside, with island survival being your forte. This desert survival is going to be hard for you! That's what we all think, and we're not particularly optimistic about you. Hopefully, you can prove us wrong."

Listening to Hua Yun's words, Chen Wen took a deep breath.

He indeed lacks desert survival experience.

But so what?

As long as there's edible stuff around upon landing, he can turn the desert into his home in no time!

Chen Wen nodded and said, "Don't worry. I also understand what it means for Mr. Liu to personally write a letter."

It's an honor, but also pressure.

Yet Chen Wen excels at converting pressure into motivation!

Hua Yun nodded without saying more.

She introduced the two assistants to Chen Wen.

One assistant was in his thirties, the other in her twenties, one male and one female.

The older male assistant was named Lin Jiawei, and the female was Jiang Chang.

Both were polite to Chen Wen, but there was a subtle aloofness.

Chen Wen felt a bit helpless; this recommendation letter from Mr. Liu brought him inexplicable hostility!

However, Chen Wen believes that once the show starts.

On the first day itself.

He could make all those hostile attitudes vanish completely!

Transform into friendship!

Due to the program's timing, to adjust for jet lag, Chen Wen went to handle his passport and visa the next day, accompanied by assistant Jiang Chang.

Once all formalities were settled, Chen Wen quickly flew to the United States, Arizona.

After landing, the Wilderness Deathmatch crew picked up Chen Wen and raced.

Taking him to the production team's camp.

Here, Chen Wen would partake in the preliminary filming.

Seven days later.

He and nine other challengers would be helicopter-dropped into Sonora Desert, commencing a thirty-day survival and deathmatch!
