Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 14: Pulling Bone from the Tiger's Jaw

"Chen, I remember there's an anesthetic needle in the vet's office, I'll go break open the door."

Mr. Li didn't let Chen Wen get hands-on immediately.

Instead, he suggested using anesthesia.

Chen Wen glanced at the poorly-conditioned Northeast Tiger and the two people with no anesthetic experience.

"Alright, let's not make it too complicated."

Chen Wen took a deep breath, took the tiger enclosure key out of his pocket.

"I'll go in and try first, keep trying to contact the director and the vet, see if they have time to video call."

Hearing this, Mr. Li shivered a little.

Although he watched Big Orange grow up under his watchful eyes, Mr. Li still didn't dare to enter the tiger enclosure for close contact.

But seeing Chen Wen fearlessly open the tiger enclosure and stride in without hesitation.

Mr. Li gritted his teeth: "Damn it, can I be outdone by a newcomer?"

He clutched the phone tightly and walked into the tiger enclosure.

...

Inside the tiger enclosure.

The large Northeast Tiger Big Orange lay on its side on the ground, weakly gasping for breath.

Seeing someone approaching, it immediately let out a wailing roar.

"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, it's me, I've been feeding you these days, remember me?"

Chen Wen took a deep breath, gently waving his hand.

All the entries on his body were ready to go.

The Northeast Tiger Big Orange stopped roaring and instead stretched its head a bit closer.

"Good cat, good cat."

Chen Wen looked at Big Orange as if coaxing a child, slowly approaching.

Mr. Li followed behind, sweating all over.

He held two phones, contacting both the vet and the director.

Soon, he got through to the vet.

Through the video call, the vet roughly saw the situation inside the tiger enclosure.

The vet couldn't help but say, "Mr. Li, get closer, don't shiver."

Mr. Li just wanted to curse at the vet.

Was he shivering on purpose?

Luckily, Chen Wen took over the phone and said to the vet, "Mr. Liu, it looks like it was that half chicken it ate, probably stuck."

Hearing this, the vet's scalp tingled.

"What bad luck, it just had to happen at this time, Chen Wen, don't get nervous, I'll think of a way."

Chen Wen agreed and came closer to the Northeast Tiger.

This was the closest Chen Wen could get.

If the Northeast Tiger made any move from this distance, he would be able to respond.

The vet was silent for a moment, then said, "Alright, Chen, use the flashlight and shine it in its mouth, I'll try to get it to open its mouth and see what's going on in its throat."

Chen Wen followed the instructions.

He held the flashlight in his left hand, the phone in his right, aiming the light at the Northeast Tiger's mouth.

The vet on the phone gently said, "Big Orange, Big Orange, it's me, open your mouth, let Uncle Liu see what you ate."

Hearing the familiar words, the Northeast Tiger Big Orange seemed to react.

It wheezed loudly, inhaling sharply.

Mr. Li's legs turned to jelly, almost collapsing.

"Good, good boy, Big Orange, open your mouth, ah~"

Mr. Liu continued, but the Northeast Tiger still couldn't understand human language, especially in its pain.

It didn't cooperate at all.

Seeing this, Mr. Liu gave up on solving it over the phone.

He quickly said, "Chen, you and Mr. Li... never mind, you two go outside, I'll drive over now, hopefully, I can make it."

That said, Mr. Liu hung up the phone.

Hearing this, Mr. Li immediately backed up a few steps, "Chen, let's go out."

Chen Wen heard him put down the phone.

He originally intended to just leave, but for some reason, when he shone the flashlight into Big Orange's amber eyes.

Chen Wen's heart quivered.

Those eyes were full of pleading, full of the desire to survive.

Chen Wen hesitated, "Mr. Li, I want to try again, you hold the light."

Mr. Li was shocked.

He clutched the doorknob, persuading him, "Chen, let's listen to Mr. Liu, once he arrives, it can be treated..."

Chen Wen interrupted Mr. Li, "Mr. Li, we can wait, do you think it can wait?"

Hearing this, Mr. Li glanced at the dying Northeast Tiger.

Mr. Liu's hometown was about a five-hour drive from here.

Considering the snow on the road, and the late night.

It might be morning by the time he arrives.

Whether the Northeast Tiger would still be alive by then, no one could say.

Mr. Li stomped his foot, shrugged off his jacket, and tossed it aside.

Then tossed the phone: "Alright, I'll help you! You tell me what to do!"

Chen Wen turned back, grinning at Mr. Li: "Relax, I've even killed bears weighing hundreds of pounds, this fellow can't hurt you."

"You hold the flashlight, help me shine it, I'll just pry open its mouth and see what's going on."

The first sentence reassured Mr. Li quite a bit.

The young man before him wasn't just any freshly graduated intern keeper; he had his own profession.

But the next sentence raised Mr. Li's worries again.

"Pry... pry open its mouth?"

Mr. Li's mouth slipped, as if someone was prying at it.

"Yes, come on."

Chen Wen didn't say more, instead taking a step further, breaking the safe distance.

He was almost in contact with the Northeast Tiger now.

If this Northeast Tiger went on a rampage, its wild nature triggered, there was no way Chen Wen could escape.

Mr. Li was very nervous.

But seeing Chen Wen's calm expression, somehow, Mr. Li also gathered some courage.

He stepped forward and aimed the flashlight at the Northeast Tiger's head: "Do it!"

Chen Wen nodded, reaching out towards the Northeast Tiger's head.

The Northeast Tiger's head was relatively large, and Chen Wen was a bit nervous as he reached out his hand.

But as Chen Wen's hand made contact with the Northeast Tiger's skin.

The motionless stance of the Northeast Tiger relaxed Chen Wen a bit.

This was a Northeast Tiger with very little wildness; it wouldn't even hunt!

Chen Wen repeated this sentence in his head continuously, reaching for the Northeast Tiger's mouth.

The mouth with black and white fur was moist, carrying a bit of a foul smell.

Chen Wen held his breath, starting to exert pressure.

The Northeast Tiger lifted its eyelids, its deep tiger eyes locking onto Chen Wen.

Chen Wen said softly, "Big Orange, don't be afraid, I'm helping you. Open your mouth, I'll remove the obstruction, and you'll feel better, come on, open up!"

With his calm voice, he began to exert pressure.

Soon, Chen Wen pried open the Northeast Tiger's large mouth with his hands.

Ignoring those sword-like canines and backward-facing tongue papillae.

Chen Wen leaned his head, peering into the depths of the Northeast Tiger's throat.

"Well, looks like we guessed it right, Mr. Li, that half piece of chicken is stuck in its throat."

Chen Wen squinted, spotting through the white mist in the Northeast Tiger's throat the root of its pain.

"What do we do now?"

Mr. Li saw Chen Wen's head mere ten centimeters away from the Northeast Tiger's mouth, his tongue got tied.

Chen Wen remained unfazed: "We can't wait, this thing's stuck, making it hard to breathe, I'll try to pull it out!"

...

Clang!

Accompanied by a clattering sound of equipment collision.

In a low-key but luxurious private room, a group of well-dressed individuals glanced toward the source of the noise.

Jiang Xue, in a fuchsia dress, forced a smile, explaining, "Sorry, I got distracted."

With that, without waiting for anyone to speak.

Jiang Xue apologized and left the private room early.

...

"Pulling a tooth from a tiger's mouth, no, we're pulling a bone from a tiger's mouth."

Chen Wen flexed his right arm, roughly testing it: "Mr. Li, stand back a bit, I might swing and hit you."

Hearing the words 'pull a bone from a tiger's mouth' truly scared Mr. Li.

"Chen, you've done enough, don't take any chances, this is no joke, the bite force of this cub is strong, if you're slow pulling out, it bites down, you could lose your arm!"

Mr. Li earnestly persuaded.

But Chen Wen was eager to try: "Don't worry, Mr. Li, I'm fast, as long as it doesn't close its mouth when I reach in, I'll pull it out faster than it can close its mouth."

"No, you can't do it like that, at least have some safety measure."

Mr. Li's mind was racing.

He took off his pants, layering down his cotton pants and thermal pants.

Mr. Li handed these clothes to Chen Wen, saying, "Use these clothes to cushion its mouth, that way even if it bites down, you'll have a chance to react."

"Alright, let's do it."
