I Will Teach You How to Hunt Gods

Chapter 95: The Mastermind

The forest on the outskirts of Yangshan Town was eerily quiet.

Yun You's imagined scene of "creatures swarming" did not appear.

All there was were lush trees and fragrant, secluded paths.

What was even more strange was that here, Yun You didn't feel any eerie atmosphere; not even a hint of the Death Domain appeared.

Earlier, when in Yangshan Town, the town leader Kong Xian said the forest outside town was an unmistakably dangerous area where all who entered had died, and their deaths were tragic.

He depicted the forest as the Demon Cave and the town as the world's only paradise.

But upon truly entering the forest, Yun You and the other two discovered that the reality was entirely opposite to what the town leader said.

Not only was the forest not as bad as he claimed, but it was actually quite a safe area.

It is Yangshan Town, buried with the Undying Internal Organs, that is the truly terrifying Demon Cave.

However, since they already knew the true identities of Kong Xian and the others were brainwashed miners, Yun You could understand if they said even more outrageous things.

...

The walk through the forest lasted about half an hour.

When Frost Moon, the leader, stopped walking, he had clearly found the answer.

"Here it is."

He traced the footprints and finally pointed to a small hill ahead.

The mound was small, no taller than a few dozen meters, and only about half the size of a small town. Calling it a "mountain" was more like calling it a small hill.

On the surface, the hill appeared to have no special features...

The rock surface was covered in moss, the top layered in thick soil, with small saplings growing here and there.

But upon closer inspection, one could find some clues, such as the grayish damp soil that seemed like it was frequently turned over, or the poorly nourished saplings growing weakly, as if they were deliberately planted rather than naturally grown.

"All the footprints converge here, and I detected a private network signal inside the hill."

Frost Moon tapped the hillside with his hand, but the echo was a crisp "bang," sounding like it was hitting a door.

"It's a biological security door disguised."

Jack immediately recognized the true nature of the hill and quickly gestured to Frost Moon and Yun You to step back.

"Find some cover."

The two nodded and hid behind a large rock.

Once they were in place, Jack rummaged through his backpack, pulled out three grenades, linked them together, pulled the safety pin, and tossed them under the hill, then turned completely away.

Boom—!

With a loud explosion, the "mountain body" at the front of the hill collapsed, revealing its true form as the surface disguise entirely failed.

Frost Moon hadn't misjudged—the hill wasn't a real mound but a semi-circular fortress hidden under the soil and rocks, fully disguised in ecological camouflage, making it look like a normal hill.

And Jack didn't blow up the mountainside itself but rather two metal doors.

Through the doors, Yun You could see a dark corridor exuding a sinister, chilling aura.

"Let's go, see inside."

The young girl emerged from the cover, inviting her companions to follow.

"Be ready for battle; there may be security systems or enemies inside."

"Yeah..."

Jack and Frost Moon replied simultaneously, drew their knives and pistols, and followed behind Yun You, stepping into the corridor with her.

...

"Pa...pa...!"

Exposed pipes led to lamps half-attached to the corridor walls, flickering on and off occasionally with arcs of electricity.

Under the harsh fluorescent light, the full view of the corridor gradually unfolded before Yun You and her two companions.

It was a medical facility resembling an underground laboratory, with walls and ceilings made of silver alloy that were bitterly cold and reflected light, casting reflections of Yun You and the others.

The air was thick with a suffocating smell of chemicals, reminiscent of disinfectant fumes mixed with a hint of rust, making one involuntarily furrow their brows.

Around them, complex wires twisted like abandoned snakes across the silver floor, irregularly strewn, with faint electrical sounds escaping from certain wires, accompanied by bluish glows flickering incessantly.

Numerous rooms lined the corridor, their doors ajar, not locked.

Yun You casually pushed open a door, intending to explore it casually.

But this push caused her pupils to shrink as she unconsciously gripped her hands tightly, deforming the door handle.

"What's wrong?"

Seeing Yun You's unusual behavior, Jack was startled and hurriedly asked, "Did you find something?"

"See for yourselves."

Yun You did not explain much, only shaking her head slightly, fully opening the door.

Instantly, an overwhelmingly intense smell of blood rushed into Jack and Frost Moon's nostrils like a tidal wave, making their scalp tingle!

"...!"

Both were momentarily stunned, quickly looking around.

Soon after, they too were shocked by the "scene" in the room.

In sight was an experimental lab resembling an "emergency room."

An iron workbench was cluttered with various strange instruments and jars. Some lay quietly on the table, but more were shattered on the ground, broken into pieces.

In the corner, bundles of yellowed files were stacked, covered in dust, like memories forgotten by time. On the opposite side, several shelves carried vague meat specimens, faintly visible in semi-lit jars.

But none of these were key.

The true eye-catcher was the bodies lying on the floor.

Or rather, the "remains" that couldn't be called complete bodies.

Several adults in lab coats lay scattered, with limbs spread everywhere. On tables, beside specimen jars, among instruments, these indistinct flesh and blood were everywhere.

Judging by the tear marks on the limb stumps and blood splattered on the ceiling, these people must have died terribly, not leaving a single complete torso.

"Such ruthless methods..."

Jack frowned, moved cautiously to a piece barely recognizable as a "head," and examined it carefully.

"Judging by the tissue, these lab coats should just be ordinary people."

"Each wound on their bodies is enough to kill an ordinary person...in other words, they likely died after the first blow."

"But the attacker didn't stop, instead continuing to tear their bodies apart."

"So I think, rather than murdering, it's more like...it's venting anger."
