I Will Teach You How to Hunt Gods

Chapter 107: Limitations

Divine Extraction, the second sequence trait of the Invisible Sequence.

Its effect and principle are simple: activate the Sequence Power, concentrate it at the fingertips, and then extract a piece of body tissue from the target out of thin air, placing it at the fingertips, no larger than the finger itself.

Perhaps, others might think this trick is powerful... after all, the concept of "obtaining out of thin air" is indeed very broad.

However, only Yun You knows the limitations of this move.

Like the vast majority of superpowers, Divine Extraction has two "activation conditions" that must be met simultaneously to be used.

The first is physical contact.

Yun You must touch the target's skin or muscle with her own hand to fulfill this condition.

This means Yun You cannot wear gloves or armor and must touch with her unprotected hand, which is why she had to cancel the Red Scale Scimitar earlier to touch the muscle under the ribs of the Headless Giant with her fist.

Similarly, if the enemy is wearing armor or protective clothing, Yun You must penetrate this layer of protection before Divine Extraction can take effect.

The second is she must know in advance the location of the part she wants to extract and visualize the possibility of extraction in her mind.

For instance, when she knows that most human brains are located in the head, she can obtain the brain out of thin air; knowing the lungs are in the chest cavity, she can obtain the lungs.

In other words, if she does not know the location to "extract," Divine Extraction cannot be activated.

The heart of the Headless Giant is an existence lacking clear information.

This thing is not even the size of a walnut and is hidden under the rib near the liver, not in the heart area.

Without Aurora's hints, Yun You couldn't find its position at all.

Such significant limitations make Divine Extraction a difficult technique to use.

Moreover, even if the limitations are set aside, its own power is not considerable; it currently can only extract tissue the size of a fingertip.

Considering this accidental success aside, Yun You thinks the best use of Divine Extraction is secretly extracting parts of the spine, heart, or brain during combat.

For these three places, suddenly losing a piece of tissue might affect the enemy somewhat.

But honestly, this impact might not be lethal...

Missing spinal tissue, a ruptured heart, may be fatal for ordinary people, but the problem is, she has numerous ways to deal with ordinary people, so why use such a troublesome technique?

And if the target is not ordinary but creatures like Apprentice Death God or mercenary monsters, then this damage is probably insignificant.

After all, the life force of Apprentice Death God is witnessed by everyone.

A wound the size of a fingertip not only cannot decide the outcome of a battle but might put Yun You in danger due to the strict activation conditions and close proximity requirements.

Perhaps in the future, when Yun You advances in Sequence Class, the damage effect and activation conditions of this move might be optimized; but at least for now, it is somewhat impractical.

This is also why Yun You did not use it initially.

But anyway, at least this time, Divine Extraction, by chance, secured Yun You's victory.

"Is this... the final Undying Heart?"

Using the laboratory's grim light, Yun You carefully examined the piece of flesh in her hand.

It is entirely black, with a rough surface, and its shape barely resembles a heart with six apertures like a normal one.

Despite its tiny size, resembling a bird's heart, it is extremely vibrant, pounding continuously even when separated from the body.

For some reason, Yun You seems to feel "its" emotions through the heart's rhythm.

It is a rather complex emotion: fear, shock, confusion, and a desire for life...

It does not want to die; it wants to survive, to keep living, willing to use any means for survival, much like it has done over thousands of years.

The instinct of living beings is to avoid harm and seek survival, to use any means for survival, forsaking any moral boundaries.

It is said that a tiger doesn't eat its cubs, but if starved to the point of death without eating, then whether a beast or a human, they cannot escape the fate of mutual slaughter.

Plainly speaking, the Undying Internal Organs are the same.

Its reason for killing is not to satisfy a malicious psychological desire but simply to extend its own life.

This is purely a matter of standpoint, with no right or wrong involved.

Only a schemer like Xie Kang, who uses the lives of innocents to seek fortune and fame, can be considered truly wicked.

But then again...

Even if there is no right or wrong, from her own standpoint, Yun You will not let the Undying Internal Organs continue living.

Because its existence means more need to die, it also means Yun You cannot complete the task and might be poisoned to death by excess "Arisu" in her body.

The little girl is not so noble as to sacrifice her life for some unrelated person.

"I still have unfinished business; I cannot die now."

"So, I'm afraid I have to let you die."

Yun You gently shook her head, then clenched the heart tightly, activating the "Eating" ability—

Buzz~!

A sound similar to an electric saw cutting wood resounded from her palm.

The black Undying Heart seemed to be being burned by invisible flames, even emitting wisps of blue smoke!

However, when the electric saw sound gradually dissipated, the heart in Yun You's palm still lay there, unharmed, with an even stronger beat.

"Eh?"

For a moment, Yun You was a bit puzzled.

Although the Undying Heart is still active now, in theory, it should meet Yun You's eating conditions and be devoured by the little girl.

But for some reason, Eating just cannot take effect on it.

"Master Zero, any thoughts?"

The little girl couldn't help but ask softly.

But Master Zero remained silent, substituting silence for an answer.

Obviously, it too does not quite understand.

This leaves Yun You somewhat stumped.

"Chica!"

Just when the little girl was at a loss, Jack spoke suddenly.

He tosses a bloody set of documents to Yun You, explaining, "I just found this in Aurora's pocket, take a look and see if there's any useful information inside."

Hearing this, Yun You was slightly taken aback, subconsciously accepting the documents.

Earlier, when searching for Aurora's bloodstains, she passed a special storage room whose door was extraordinarily sturdy, made from rolled steel that barely meets advanced police standards, theoretically capable of resisting high-yield bomb impacts.

But no matter how sturdy it is, it can't withstand the door-knocking accumulated by the Headless Giant over the years.

It eventually was smashed open, and everyone inside became meals for the monster.

And through the safes displayed behind the door, Yun You can determine.

This, in all likelihood, is the base's [archive room].

It might contain all the records from the research base over the past 20 years.
