My Notoriety Spreads Throughout the World

Chapter 124: Mimicry · Hundred-sided Dice

"This is..."

Xu Xiaoyou focused her gaze, picked up the bronze-colored dice from the washbasin, washed away the bloodstains, and observed it under the light.

Light refracted on the dice's surface, with a faint golden glow flowing. On closer inspection, this strange dice appeared normal in size but had a full hundred faces!

Each face's boundary was a polygonal prism, carved with intricate mysterious patterns. Xu Xiaoyou held the dice closer to her eyes, squinting to see that each face had numbers that constantly jumped!

She then placed the dice flat in her hand, leaned down, and from her angle, the blue numbers that kept jumping were projected in mid-air, not etched on the dice surface, seemingly floating blue mist.

Every change of number emitted a 'click click' gear meshing sound.

She couldn't describe the feeling, but after spitting out this dice, all the previous restraint and gloom vanished, her whole body felt much lighter.

A voice in her mind told her.

This dice is her Mimicry.

...

Inside the room, Xu Xiaoyou looked at the fist-sized, fluffy creature with white wings, soft like marshmallows, on the table and fell into contemplation.

This creature had a humanoid form, with a beautifully sculpted face, very cute. It was lying on the table, sleeping soundly, with Zzz symbols floating from its head.

"Is this Tang Xin's pet? When did this happen?"

She tried poking the creature's face, hearing it emit a 'Fuwa~Chu' sound, then it turned over and continued sleeping.

"It's quite fun."

Xu Xiaoyou grew interested, she went to the kitchen and found a leftover piece of cake, placed it in front of the little creature; its nose sniffed lightly, its eyes brightened, then it got up and ran dada-da to the cake, hugging it to munch, showing a satisfied expression.

"Hehe."

"Xu, Xiao, You!"

Just then, Tang Xin's angry voice came from outside the door.

Xu Xiaoyou's body trembled, turning around to see Tang Xin rush in from outside with an angry face, looking somewhat...mortified, gritting her teeth.

"What's, what's the matter?" She felt somewhat guilty under the girl's gaze.

Seeing the little creature on the table happily eating the cake, Tang Xin angrily pointed her index finger, repeatedly poking at Xu Xiaoyou's forehead: "This is my Mimicry, don't feed Xiaoxin randomly!"

Xu Xiaoyou's pupils trembled; she looked at Tang Xin, then at the table where Xiaoxin blinked her bean-sized black eyes, looking somewhat confused; she was still hugging that piece of cake, unsure whether to continue taking bites.

Xu Xiaoyou tried poking Xiaoxin's pink face again, and then saw Tang Xin's face slightly indent as if poked as well.

Xu Xiaoyou poked several more times, Tang Xin folded her arms with a cold eye: "Had enough fun?"

"I didn't know, I won't do it next time." Xu Xiaoyou blinked.

Tang Xin sighed, waved her hand towards Xiaoxin, who turned into a microphone, flapping her wings and flying into her hand.

Watching the girl walk away, Xu Xiaoyou spread her hands, deciding to study her dice further.

Having a hundred faces, let's name it the Hundred-sided Dice.

She held her palm upward, the Hundred-sided Dice reappearing in her hand.

From the storage room of the security booth, she took out an old-fashioned microscope with round lenses and an old style body adding a bit of punk flavor to this optical microscope.

Placing the Hundred-sided Dice under the optical microscope, after aligning the lens, she closed one eye and leaned close to the microscope, observing this dice.

Each polygonal junction of its faces had a small gap, through which one could see the precise internal structure, countless gears and mechanical parts meshing and operating within, almost like a shrunken mechanical workshop; Xu Xiaoyou thought of expensive luxury watches, those familiar watches had equally complex and precise internals but seemed inferior compared to this small dice.

After researching for a long time, she still couldn't understand how this dice operated or how it projected constantly changing numbers onto its surface.

Eventually, she gave up, deciding to directly test it.

"Heaven and earth spirits, Goddess of Fortune quickly manifest." Shaking the dice in her hand several times, Xu Xiaoyou threw it onto the table.

The dice continued rotating on the table, soon stopping, with light shining from the top face.

Like an electronic LCD screen, a display was projected above that face.

"Destiny Points: 53."

"Xiaoji: obtained an inspiration."

"Record or materialize?"

"Materialize."

Watching an inspiration condensing out of thin air, dropping onto the table with a crisp bouncing sound, Xu Xiaoyou was overjoyed.

She picked up the inspiration, putting it close to her ear hearing faint waves like tides hitting the shore, vaguely accompanied by some bird songs.

Without a doubt, this was a genuine inspiration!

Xu Xiaoyou planned to strike while the iron is hot, further researching her dice's specific abilities.

Another roll!

"Destiny Points: 78."

"Ji: next Skill Card power gets a slight boost."

"Record or materialize?"

Xu Xiaoyou felt a stirring inside, inconspicuously choosing materialize.

She tried using Fireball Bombardment, a storm of fiery vortex gushed out instantly, condensing like a Fire Demon sneering, sweeping the room with endless heat and destructive flames!

The commotion triggered the fire alarm, large mists cascaded from overhead sprinkler heads, drenching Xu Xiaoyou like a soaked chicken.

...

"Sorry, sorry, not sure what fault triggered the alarm, apologies for causing trouble, nothing happened, sorry!"

Several rushed residents outside relaxed their tense brows at the blue-haired girl's explanation; after expressing some concern, they finally left.

Tang Xin walked in from outside, speechless: "What are you up to again, triggering the fire alarm?"

Xu Xiaoyou guiltily glanced around, pretending to be busy.

Tang Xin shook her head slightly, not blaming the girl anymore.

She'd been quite worried about her these days, fearing she really had some mental illness, even thinking she was brainwashed by the Ascetic Sect, turned into a bad You.

Seeing Xu Xiaoyou's mental state much better today, she felt relieved.

"You can confide in me if you have any psychological issues; I'll listen patiently," Tang Xin said gently. "But please don't play with fire alone in the room, thank you."

"No problem, no problem, I'm really not sick." Xu Xiaoyou waved repeatedly.

After watching Tang Xin walk away again, she still felt a bit anxious.

You call this a slight boost? Almost blasted this small shabby room to the sky; she will never trust any description involving 'slight', 'minor', or 'some' introduced in any Card Maker ability again!

Xu Xiaoyou rolled the dice again.

This time, it seemed a bit different.

The projected screen turned a bizarre blood-red, with black blood oozing from the borders.

The room's temperature plummeted, countless crimson eyes opened on the screen, staring eerily at Xu Xiaoyou.

"Destiny Points: 11."

"Calamity: Master-Devouring Spirit Blade."
