My Notoriety Spreads Throughout the World

Chapter 205: Night of Wind and Tides (3)

"Fate?"

"Dark Golden Rose?"

Countless possibilities flashed through Bai Zhou's mind. Only when a Cleaner possesses the ability to reflect the brilliance of the world will they be given a code name by the association. Two-character code names like Que Ling, Calamity, Ghost, or four-character code names at the Light Prism Tier; Deep White Midnight, Gloomy Blue Tide, Cyan Sage, Crimson Dancer.

Without a doubt, every Cleaner listed here is a monstrous being over a hundred years old, capable of single-handedly destroying a Nest City. The definition of destruction isn't purely through violent means; rather, it refers to their ability to fully exert their social influence and personal capabilities, leading directly or indirectly to the collapse of a Nest City's regime.

For example, Deep White Midnight, whose wealth is unimaginable to ordinary people, is the true power holder behind Cosmic Heavy Industries' Sequence 0. If he so wished, he could cause any Nest City's economic system to collapse.

Or Cyan Sage, who can resonate with the "Mysterious" domain to manipulate the minds of the governing body of a Nest City millions of kilometers away, or make them glimpse the "Mysterious" and be driven insane.

As for Crimson Dancer and Gloomy Blue Tide, these two are capable of overthrowing the regime of a Nest City directly through force. But the former was rumored to have died in battle during the 'Eight-Spider Nest Mother' event several centuries ago in Chichu Heaven, and is missing to this day. The latter is extremely mentally unstable, regarded by most people in the association as a reckless lunatic.

He had never personally seen a Cleaner at the Prism or Light Prism Tier. The most formidable Cleaner in his memory was his immediate superior, the head of the Special Sixth Class, Chichu Hong. The Head's strength is recognized by all; he possesses the combat capability to lead them in confronting world-class myths.

And this guy in front of him, shamelessly talking about "Fate" and "Dark Golden Rose," he had never heard of such a person.

"Stop acting so mysterious."

Bai Zhou snorted coldly, kicked up the Heavy Blade from the ground, and shouldered it. Abyssal White Flower was causing chaos in the Opera Layer right now, and he couldn't reach his superior or his companions. He was the only one who could take over the battlefield; he didn't have time to waste on a pretentious guy.

After a simple standoff on the narrow path, they simultaneously charged toward each other, and the battle was about to commence. Neither used any abilities; instead, they used primitive methods, wielding cold weapons in their hands to probe each other.

Bai Zhou's Heavy Blade swung in a semicircle, hacking fiercely toward Xu Xiaoyou's shoulder. The latter nimbly shifted her steps, dodging the blade's strike at a subtle angle. Meanwhile, she lashed out with the whip in her hand, ensnaring his wrist and pulling to the right.

Bai Zhou reacted quickly, his hand entangled by the whip around a railing. His waist twisted swiftly, and he suddenly lifted his leg to sweep horizontally toward the girl's head with immense force. A solid hit would leave an ordinary person either dead or severely injured.

Xu Xiaoyou couldn't dodge in time, she could only raise her right arm to block the attack. With a muffled grunt, she was sent crashing into a pile of debris nearby. The rack made of twisted steel bars collapsed under her impact, and her whole body was numbed by the terrifying force.

With her current physical condition, trying to go head-to-head with a Fourth Tier Cleaner was indeed impossible, and she took quite a hit from this blow.

She shook her head, dodging Bai Zhou's straight kick again, rolling slightly as her dagger whistled up, repeatedly slashing at his leg. However, it was like hacking into a piece of steel, the sound of metal collision echoing.

Xu Xiaoyou backed away from Bai Zhou, creating some distance. Looking at her dagger, noticing the notches on the blade, she decisively threw it away and began searching through her outfit.

Bai Zhou forcefully broke the steel bar wrapped around his hand, pulling his hand out and reaching for Xu Xiaoyou's whip. Unexpectedly, bone spurs emerged from the eerie whip, leaving a wound so deep on his palm that the bone was visible.

This eerie whip could actually hurt him?

Suddenly, he noticed the girl aiming a silver-white metal box at him. Before he could react, a flash of cold light brought immense danger, prompting him to grab the railing beside him for cover.

Blinding white light flickered in the darkness, the deafening sound of gunfire echoing. Bullets ricocheted and clanged between the scattered steel bars.

Xu Xiaoyou repeatedly pulled the trigger until the bullets in her Desert Eagle were spent, then threw it aside, brandishing her whip to clash with the advancing Bai Zhou.

The blades gleamed as they tested each other, and after a few simple exchanges, both gained an understanding of each other's capabilities.

"Ha, I thought you were something exceptional, but you're just a weakling. Next, I'll deal with you as quickly as possible!" Bai Zhou shouted.

The Heavy Blade, with an overwhelming momentum, crashed down toward Xu Xiaoyou, slashing solidly onto the girl's body. Bai Zhou exerted force with his hands, trying to drive the blade into the girl's body. However, no matter how hard he tried, the blade didn't move an inch, as if it was hitting a rock.

Upon closer inspection, the scene in the darkness became clear; the strike hadn't truly hit Xu Xiaoyou's shoulder but had been caught by her raised arm, embedded in the sleeve of her outfit.

How could someone whose strength he judged to be at most an early Three Tier withstand his well-prepared strike?

Bai Zhou widened his eyes, refusing to believe, and continued to exert pressure. But Xu Xiaoyou simply patted his Heavy Blade with her gloved hand, sending a tremendous force back through his weapon, sending both man and weapon flying backward.

Xu Xiaoyou noticed the astonishment in Bai Zhou's eyes, feeling no emotion. This was the effect of the Skill Cards {Diamond Skin} combined with {An Eye for an Eye}. As long as the opponent's attack couldn't break her defense, she could return all the aggression unchanged.

Bai Zhou landed on his hands and bounced up immediately, a strong sense of vigilance rising. The previous disdain in his eyes vanished.

Watching the figure standing tall, though her aura wasn't strong, she walked with exceptional steadiness. He realized something was off, very off.

Clearly, she didn't give off a strong impression. In terms of power, speed, combat awareness, and nerve reflexes, he far exceeded this person. Her body even seemed to carry some illness, he could sense the weak and sickly aura.

But whether it was that whip or her previously displayed series of abilities, they all felt extremely bizarre.

This person, what was her deal exactly?

"Thunder's Fury."

Xu Xiaoyou didn't give him time to think, silently chanting as she used another Skill Card, quickly compressing the space between them.

The surrounding violent Thunder Element began to stir, tiny white bolts of lightning creating cracks in the air. Blazing thunder appeared in her hands, causing all nearby electronic devices to flicker and spark, one by one failing.

Bai Zhou slashed toward her, sensing no solid contact, as if he had cut into cotton. The girl's entire body seemed covered in a grey-black mist, her outline flickering. His weapon seemed lodged into Xu Xiaoyou's body as if a program had glitched; this was the effect of {Attack Deflection}.

Bai Zhou was horrified. Suddenly, the ground beneath him disappeared, and he fell into a spatial rift once more. Upon reopening his eyes, he fell from above the path, colliding solidly with the thunder in the girl's hand, his entire body was blown away.
