My Notoriety Spreads Throughout the World

Chapter 219: Siren King Statue

Dust whirled in the air, the scent of old mildew wafting in as Tang Xin covered her face to fend off the approaching cloud of dust, shining her flashlight as she walked deeper into the mansion, surveying the surroundings.

The interior of the mansion was rather Chen Pu-like, with the exhibition hall on the first floor stretching forward, doors leading to other areas positioned every few meters, separated by Roman columns. The facilities, neglected for years, were coated in thick dust. The glass showcases were empty, and some glass had been smashed, leaving gaps, while it seemed as if the mansion had been forgotten; the owner's collections had been taken away by the family, and the remaining items had been stolen by local residents.

The few Roman columns gathered around emitted an indescribable oppressive aura.

Light descended from the three-layered atrium above, illuminating the circular center area of the mansion's first floor. There, they saw an enormous pentagram design; five red lines like blood intercrossed, extending along the ground in five directions, with corresponding symbols for sky, earth, wind, water, and man on the walls. As soon as Amy saw these symbols, she blurted out:

"Pole Star Association?"

Tang Xin asked, "What kind of organization is that?"

"A bunch of lunatics eager for destruction, similar to the Ascetic Sect. Actually, most of the Pole Star members in Star of Art are also part of the Ascetic Sect. Dawn Society has dealt with these lunatics numerous times."

"This Siren Mansion is connected to those Pole Star Association people," Amy said with a hint of caution.

"This is trouble; I'm afraid this matter isn't as simple as mere coincidence. We must talk to Everme first."

Amy opened the communication curtain only to find that the signal on the island had somehow been cut off, showing no service area.

"Damn, this is bad."

Amy felt an inexplicable sense of unease, as if an invisible net had enveloped the island, and a storm was about to arrive soon.

Tang Xin saw the seriousness in Amy's eyes and suddenly remarked:

"Speaking of which, the photographer has been missing since earlier."

Amy turned back and discovered that the photographer was indeed nowhere to be seen on the path they came, swallowed by the surrounding darkness, with the mansion's door shut tight, an invisible silence spreading overhead.

"Let's keep moving forward," Tang Xin said.

While unable to inquire directly about the details of the Siren Miracle, she could infer some things from Amy's reactions.

The script from the production team probably wasn't merely fictional, matching the reality of the Siren Miracle situation, and Amy was willing to bring her to this mansion, suggesting that the clue or the Anchor Point itself might be hidden inside.

"We can only keep going forward," Amy nodded.

They traversed the front exhibition zone and veered right into the mansion's sculpture gallery, where they were met by a towering statue of the Siren King, nearly ten meters tall, its head almost touching the ceiling, merging with the shadows.

The statue depicted a human-bodied, fish-tailed figure, with eighteen octopus-like tendrils sprouting from its back, cradling an infant. Looking closely, they discovered three faces on its head, facing left, right, and straight ahead respectively, with large bloody cavities replacing the top half of each face, filled with densely packed fangs; below, lips were shaped into serene, smiling, angry curves, as if accommodating all the world's emotions, like countless faces overlapping at once.

Pale light fell on the Siren King statue, cloaking it in an oddly sacred, loving white veil, bearing an inexpressible beauty.

Particularly when gazing at the three faces filled with fangs, the two girls felt they were being watched.

"Siren King..." Amy murmured softly.

Tang Xin did not linger on the Siren King statue but instead shone her flashlight around, her pupils contracting slightly upon seeing the nearby scene.

Nearly a hundred mermaid statues were positioned on both sides of the sculpture gallery, most hidden beneath red drapes covering their upper bodies, while exposed statues were dilapidated, their edges ominously jagged, with broken eyes casting cold gazes.

These mermaid statues had been abandoned here after the mansion was deserted, with a large crack in the gallery's skylight exposing them to the elements for years, transforming them into their current state.

A barely perceptible fishy smell permeated the air, drawing Tang Xin's gaze to one particular mermaid statue, quickly locking onto it.

Moments ago, had that statue moved?

A sphere of water coalesced in Tang Xin's palm, scattering towards the area around the statue, causing it to collapse with a dull noise, some statues shattering into stone fragments, including the peculiar mermaid statue.

Amy asked, "Xin, what is this?"

Tang Xin shook her head, "Nothing, let's go."

Was it just her imagination?

The two girls advanced towards the second floor of the mansion, delving deeper into darkness. Meanwhile, in Mermaid Town's courtyard, Xu Xiaoyou hurried along the corridors, colliding with a group head-on.

"Miss Xu." Chichu Hong greeted her with a smile.

Xu Xiaoyou nodded in acknowledgment as she passed the Special Sixth Class team, Bai Zhou's nose twitched slightly, instantly alert, calling out to her:

"Hey!"

Xu Xiaoyou halted, glancing sideways, her brows knitting slightly:

"Is there something you need?"

"You…" Bai Zhou hesitated, momentarily forgetting what he wanted to say, about to speak when a fist landed on his forehead courtesy of Chichu Hong.

Chichu Hong pressed Bai Zhou's shoulder, his knuckle drilling into Bai Zhou's forehead like a poison dart, apologizing profusely as if addressing someone whose child had misbehaved: "Sorry, please don't mind this guy, Miss Xu."

Bai Zhou was about to retort but was silenced by a glare from Chichu Hong: "Can you be polite? How many times have I said not to shout 'hey hey hey' at people?"

Bai Zhou shrank back, pausing a moment.

"Even if you notice something strange, tell me first, shouting so loudly as if afraid others won't know?"

Chichu Hong was used to Bai Zhou's sudden reactions, considering Bai Zhou's heightened olfactory senses from genetic modification could detect scents others couldn't. This ability allowed their team to issue warnings early, avoiding many troubles.

"Go ahead, what did you smell?"

Bai Zhou opened his mouth but couldn't voice it.

From the blonde girl, he sensed a familiar scent, reminiscent of having seen her someplace before, as if she had left an indelible mark on him.

Yet he couldn't recall where they'd met, instinctively calling out to her.

To be precise, the scent was linked to a luxury perfume called 'Golden Rose Garden,' mingling musk with hyacinth, honey notes, and culminating in a sweet aftertaste following a faintly bitter herbal scent, popular among the young in his family line. This fragrance had filled the air during cocktail parties aboard the cruise.

He scratched his head: "Maybe, maybe I smelled wrong."
