My Notoriety Spreads Throughout the World

Chapter 231: A Sorrowful World (Part 3)

"Are you fucking kidding me?" White Snake stepped forward, the butt of the gun suddenly hitting the girl's face. Tang Xin's body swayed back a few steps, collapsing down the wall; her beautiful face, which countless people dreamed of, swelled up.

She recognized the girl, and White Snake raised an eyebrow: "Look who it is, isn't this the big star of Star of Art?"

White Snake viciously pinched Tang Xin's face, lifting her off the ground, her eyes like two glass windows, once gentle as water, now dim, like a candle flame about to go out.

"You think these little tricks could fool me?" White Snake's voice was cold, glancing at the open window behind the girl, "We always have a companion left outside, those little brats must still be in the academy."

"Who hired you? I can pay double," Tang Xin rasped.

White Snake laughed as if she'd heard the funniest thing in the world, drawing the dagger from her waist and gesturing it on the girl's face.

"You really think you're some big shot star, huh? Those people from the families are all far more valuable than you."

Tang Xin wasn't provoked by these sharp words, continuing to ask: "Why are you after those kids?"

She understood very well that at this moment, she couldn't reveal any information about the kids to the thugs in front of her. The moment she lost her value, they would kill her without hesitation. She had to stall for time or wait for an opportunity.

White Snake fell silent, her gaze like two venomous snakes. She was just a lowly mercenary, walking the edge of the knife, doing shady deals for the rich, and the day she lost her value, she'd be disposed of like a dog; those high and mighty bastards didn't want their filthy deeds known by others.

But the girl in front of her was different, the brightest star in this night's sky, adored by everyone. Under the spotlight, she wore expensive bespoke gowns in rotation, each day wearing different high heels, all the starlight falling on her, following in her footsteps.

The stark contrast caused White Snake's inner resentment to grow, almost sinking her knuckles into the girl's ribs, slowly squeezing and twisting:

"I'm giving you one last chance, where are those kids?"

Tang Xin painfully furrowed her eyebrows, the emotional resonance from the severe pain blurring her vision. She struggled, kicking her legs wildly against the ground, yet her previously dim eyes grew brighter, a fire igniting within.

"They are in..."

White Snake halted her actions, yet found the blue-haired girl's eyes misted over, but her smile was like a broken mirror, reflecting and mocking White Snake's incompetence, her resentment misplaced on others.

"A place you'll never find."

"Taking out your anger on the weak, how amusing."

"Shut up."

"When you spoke of the family people, you sounded so proud," Tang Xin said. "As if just mentioning them made you feel emboldened."

The venomous snakes in her eyes were ready to strike, White Snake ground her teeth, increasing her grip, trying to forcibly break the girl's ribs.

"You can shoot them dead with your gun, but once the island's events are exposed, you'll have to slink back to the sewers." Tang Xin's lips were dry and cracked, the sweet, metallic taste constantly rising from her throat.

White Snake roared, throwing Tang Xin to the ground, lunging forward to punch the girl in the face, as if that could stop her from speaking further, changing the painful truths piercing deep into her heart.

"So, you're just a bunch of pitiful worms who cling to the strong."

Bright red blood oozed from Tang Xin's mouth, while a white-hot light illuminated White Snake's grotesque face. Under the mask, the woman's face bore dried bloodstains, scars a deep brown, standing out against her skin, clearly left by a blade in her childhood.

Tang Xin had succeeded, she managed to anger the woman, won more time, and made the woman let down her guard, coming closer.

The Starry Singer's voice could tug at people's hearts, not only healing them but also tearing the protective layers like a blade, exposing their true selves.

White Snake raised her Wolf Fang Dagger, suddenly stabbing toward the girl's face, no longer caring about the mission or commission; the girl's words shattered all her psychological defenses, she just wanted to tear up the girl's face before her.

Tang Xin tightly gripped the descending dagger, her knuckles stopped the sharp blade, bright red droplets fell onto her face like budding red roses. Though her Power was insignificant compared to the well-trained White Snake, she used all her might to slow the blade's descent, enough to adjust her angle.

The blade left deep bloody marks on Tang Xin's face, while her hand pressed against White Snake's chest, a sense of crisis surging wildly within, a card's dazzling golden light bursting between Tang Xin's palm and White Snake's chest!

——Candle Dragon Storm.

That was the skill card Xu Xiaoyou had handed her before departure.

The splendid explosive flames engulfed half the room, the deafening explosion shook the entire house to its foundation, a dragon of fire soared up, its molten eyes shining as bright as lightning, every flame-scaled plate pouring out fury!

If not for Tang Xin exerting all her Water Technique power at the last moment, it wasn't just this room, the entire academy would have been obliterated by the skill card's force.

The intense bright light shook Tang Xin's consciousness, numerous black spots danced across her retinas, the woman before her turned to charcoal, large chunks of blackened body dropping away.

Tang Xin smiled, the entire ceiling was ripped open by the explosive force moments ago, the pouring rain soaking her blue hair, even as she activated her Water Technique on time, her whole right arm was severely burned, covered in ugly charred scars. Her seemingly weak exterior had lulled others into lowering their guard, forgetting she was a Two Tier Starry Singer, also proficient as a Water Mage.

The mercenary team was composed of Two Tier members or higher, carrying the children out against them was unrealistic, she could only try this method to take out the entire team.

Unfortunately, in the end, White Snake was the only one in the room.

She didn't catch them all.

Tang Xin struggled to rise from the ground, picking up the handgun dropped by White Snake. Other mercenaries, hearing the commotion, quickly arrived, seeing White Snake's half-charred body in the ruins.

Almost as they appeared, Tang Xin extended the hidden gun behind her, swiftly pulling the trigger, a blood flower exploding from Hawk's head as the bullet whistled past. The other two didn't hesitate, stray bullets piercing Tang Xin's chest, shoulder, and neck, knocking the gun from her hand.

To them, the death of a comrade was nothing unusual, not worth mourning. Tactical boots splashed through the puddles, Lone Wolf swiftly approached Tang Xin. Her glass-like eyes completely dimmed, glass shards cutting into her skin, rainwater pooling beneath her, washing over her dust-covered, charred body.

Until the moment she passed out, Tang Xin still wondered if the kids had escaped, if her young fans could have a bright future, spread their wings, and soar freely into the sky?
